Well I think Landis has talent and is also a hipster (and this time... It REALLY applies it's not just being thrown around for the sake of it) doofus *****ebag. He can write great stuff.... But so far what he's produced with Supes has been problematic to say the least in comics. That Joker story is all sorts of wrong for a variety of reasons. And as for his supposed insights? Sorry... Saying that the Death Of Superman arc and his return was either in general pop culture terms or for comics in particular something which broke all kinds of dramatic rules or "took death off the table ect." is just... Well it's dumb, and shows a total lack of a command of the facts. Looking back on pop culture and comics, deaths and resurrections were common in the decades prior to the 1990's and the DOS story.Jean Grey, Alfred, Spock and Sherlock Holmes all say "Hello" Max. For all his genuine talent, and he is talented, his posturing (so evident in that DOS YouTube vid and in his recent Tweets about SUICIDE SQUAD) is what turns people off and shows that while he may be a good writer, he lacks self awareness.

Yup, apparently everyone who has ever made stuff worth watching are all cool bros.

That's silly. Im sure 90% of the famous people you like have *****ebag personalities but they're also great at what they do. So why let that get in the way?

Maybe they do, but most of them don't shoot their mouths off every chance they get. And the ones that do (Billy Corgan, for example... I'm a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan) have at least turned out enough amazing material that I'm willing to ignore their stupidity. Landis has written some good stuff, but let's not pretend it was so earth-shattering that it absolves him of any and all judgment whenever he says something asinine.

I'm with Rows. I don't care if his writing makes God cry, he's such an obnoxious prick.

Privileged *******s shouldn't get a free pass because they're privileged *******s.

And that's the other thing. I don't believe for a second that Landis would be anywhere close to he is if his daddy didn't happen to be a damn-near legendary director. He's a byproduct of Hollywood nepotism and he has the d***ish personality to prove it.

Apparently Nemeres thinks he's wonderful though, so there's that.

“People think Kryptonite can beat him. No. The only thing that can really beat Superman is Superman. His own noggin messing with him. His own moral choices,” Cavill told The Guardian.

SuperHero Feeds thinking that could be a tease to bizarro perhaps?

i know i know superhero feed isn't that legitimate in journalism and speculation :p

I wonder sometimes if there really isnt a true muscle villain in this, that it really is just a Vs film, with WW stepping in and helping them see who the true villain is, Lex.

Lex is around the same age as Clark. What if the water scene that made some of think aquaman... what if it's a kryptonite rock. And the swimmer is a young Lex, who gets sick & loses his hair as a result. He remembers the location and makes the connection with superman and finds it

Bizarro or not, Cavill has hit EVERY nail in the head when it comes to Superman. He REALLY knows the character well inside and out. He's very much in tune with the character he portrays. I agree 100% that Superman's biggest strength AND weakness is his ability to give and lay his heart out on the line for others. His morals, though sometimes indestructible in their own right, can also be a form of weakness when trusting and believing the best in another being when there are odds against that.

I don't follow. This version isn't like Smallville. We didn't see Kal's ship land with a big Kryptonite meteor shower.

Putting personality over talent?
are you serious?

Well Mr. west I suppose you would take that position. ;)

But seriously, I did say he's talented did I not? I just pointed out:

1) He has a history of being a hipster *****e doofus in public.

2) Despite his talent I found a lot to be desired in his Superman/Joker story.

3) That the thing that launched him into the public consciousness has a highly flawed premise, owing to said hipster doofus *****e personality lacking self awareness as well as a seemingly no command of the facts that in pop culture and in comics in particular, death and resurrections were actually old hat by the time the DOS story hit, thus the reference to Jean Grey, Alfred, Sherlock Holmes and Spock all deaths and resurrections that predate the 90's Superman. I can think a creator of entertainment is talented but not LIKE their work just as I can think they are talented AND also asshats. This seems to be a strange concept to many on the Hype for some reason.

Don't know where that comes from either seeing as I said Landis had talent but that I found his Superman story lacking but as was mentioned in the "Skeptic" thread, for whatever reason points need to be made multiple times on the Hype before they tend to sink in for many. :)

Then maybe it wasn't directed at you specifically. It's a dumb principle to approach someone's work X way just because he/she happens to have shared more of his personality than other writers. If you think that excluded your comment, let it bounce off.

Zack Snyder knows how to bring the comicbooks to life.

Found this pic from the 'Watchtower' facebook page (if anyone remembers that ordeal here :funny: ) and it looks really interesting, i really like the little tidbits and attention to details the Snyder puts in the film, oh man!

Good catch! I was re-watching the animated film and I believe the image below is also a direct reference to their fight in TDKR.
Just look at the positioning of Superman's "S" curl and his facial expression, Snyder really pays attention to the smallest detail.

I've been thinking and I believe we're getting Bizarro and not Doomsday (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember the latter being able to shoot off laser beams).

The Metropolis event is being called the Black Zero.

As in B-Zero (B-0).

As in Bizarro? :cwink:

B-0 is also the Bizarro project that Lex created during one of the recent JL arcs: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Subject_B-0_(Prime_Earth)

That huge beam thrown at Batman seen in the trailer is probably Bizarro's heat breath. So yeah, I'm going with him as the big bad.

If this ends up happening...

OR...

B-0 could also be a code for B.O. (body odor). Who's name begins with a "B" and ends with an "O" and probably has B.O. due to years of passing out drunk on the floors of Metropolis bars? BIBBO!!! THAT'S WHO!!! BIBBO IS THE MYSTERY VILLAIN!

POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR BvS

I was looking through the cast page on IMDB and noticed that there were 4 roles named "Nairomian Crying Woman." Not knowing what that was, I googled it and found an archived thread from 4chan that contained possible spoilers for the movie.

It's a Superman cult that's been spreading in the Middle East. They attack a war-torn place, Nairomi, where Superman is forbidden to go by the local government. Lois Lane is there covering the conflict and, when Superman intervenes to save her, the cult bows to him, and the Nairomian government believes Superman to have been part of their campaign and threatens retaliation against the United States government if Superman is not punished.

Superman is then called to a congress hearing in Washington, D.C. to decide his place in the world, which Lex Luthor bombs, leading to the deaths of several politicians and innocents, sowing political turmoil and leading to a global backlash against Superman. Batman is among the ones that believe Superman is out of control, while Superman is manipulated into believing Batman is behind the bombing, setting off their conflict.

I think there is some truth to this. First is that it is revealed that the Superman cult attacks a place called Nairomi. That is backed up by the IMDB cast page listing actresses playing Nairomians. Second is that they claim there is an explosion at Congress. In the Comic Con trailer, we know something bad happens there with the shot of Lois and the protesters looking frightened and ducking down. The thread is also dated 4 months ago and knew about the Congress hearing before it was revealed in the Comic Con trailer.

That actually sounds very credible, thanks for the info.

It really does. I'd actually love to it to go that way too. I wonder what would Bats be doing in Nairomi.
