The montage tidbit pre-dates El Mayimbe's report. The heroes being shown working in pairs separately makes far more sense than an actual formed League over the credits.

Hmm. Avoided reading that link on the outside chance that it could be valid and does actually spoil. But if they show a montage featuring pairs working together that would be fine, I guess. For the montage I'd just want to see some glimpses of the future JL in action in some way. However they do that. I was assuming it might be individual moments of past or future for the characters. But if they pair them up for something like this I guess that makes sense.

Superman's importance is obvious, the challenge is portraying that importance as anything other than mandatory. Anyone can say he's the king daddy, and then leave him aside to go play with the more vulnerable characters... which understandably happens often, he's a challenging character to fit into a team. I think he should be the Wolverine of the JL - put his arc front and center, have him be the one the main elements of the story revolve around. If things in JL work for Superman, they'll work for everyone on the way down.

That's the key. How to portray him in JL. I don't think it should be so hard but even Cavill says he's a difficult charater to write. He is wrong on that IMO.

Affleck's hints tell me Batman is the defacto founder lead of the JL. If cavil really connects in BvS that could change.

Have they made it clear about where this falls on the timeline in relation to the Suicide Squad? I've heard rumors that the events of SS happen between MoS and BvS…

I'm curious about this myself.

Only thing we know is that its post mos i guess. I'd bet on it being before bvs.

I concluded this from Amanda Waller's line about Superman's emergance being a beacon that drew all the freaks out, from the first SS trailer. Granted we don't know what Batman's role is in SS, or if the car chase footage is present day or a flashback, but BvS and the prequel comic both imply that Batman comes out of retirement in BvS after the Metropolis attack.

I don't think that prequel comic implied that he came out retirement. Just that he "changed".

Well this Batman is old, coupled with all the criminals he's put in jail(if those criminals in SS are put in by him) the fact that his sidekick is dead and an alien destroyed the city, killed dozens, possibly hundreds and Wayne Enterpirse building and he was powerless at the time to stop it(from the look of the trailer). I'd say he has more than enough reason to change,

In the earlier post crisis JL incarnations superman was offered membership and he turned it down! Batman may claim to be a loner but he subconsciously surrounds himself with a family (nightwing, alfred, robin(s), Oracle, batgirl etc...) while superman is quite the opposite, since he goes up against global level threats and hence he prefers to do things alone so he won't have to worry about anyone else around him getting hurt.
In JL TAS they addressed this in "secret society" 2 parter.

Personally I always thought superman's existence would negate that of the JL but then again if superman were to go rogue who else could stop him but the JL.

So I have a question. What was with that report during the fall that Jesse Esienburg is Alex's son and not the real Lex?

You ever seen the Superman/Batman team up from the animated show 'The Batman'? Its Superman who doesn't want to work with Batman in that story and it makes way more sense, given Batman in that show teams up with Robin and (occasionally) Batgirl.

So I have a question. What was with that report during the fall that Jesse Esienburg is Alex's son and not the real Lex?

I don't think that's what they meant I think that this version is just called Alexander Luthor Jr so his Dad would be Alexander Luthor Sr and not Lionel.

He's a Jr. So, people that didn't like the casting pounced on the idea that he was just the son and Lex Sr. was the real Lex. It was the third dumbest theory regarding BvS to gain traction, behind Jason Todd is the Joker and Christian Bale is still Batman/Affleck is actually Deathstroke.

Wait wait hold the ****ing mayonnaise. People really thought Affleck was Deathstroke? Goddamn. I know I'm probably late to the party. But that's sad

Hahaha I guess there was just enough of a seed of doubt that some legitimately bought into it, even more so because it generally appeared as though these folks couldn't let go of Nolan's films.

That right there is the absolute definition of denial.

By the end of BvS, do you think the relationship between Bruce/Clark or Batman/Superman will be frosty at best? Or will they be more friendlier? Just because they have to work together doesn't mean they become best pals over night, right.

They'll be tolerant of each other. JL will likely bring them closer.

I thin, I hope that it is frosty. That relationship needs to develop.

As in a pure, standalone Superman/Batman film with Luthor and Joker the antagonists.

Hoping Affleck and Cavill have the chemistry together to get WB to do a strait up Batman/Superman film.

Keep it frosty. Let it be an emotional thread that gets woven through to JL and then have them become closer.

Bromance can wait! Have to see what kind of screen chemistry Affleck and Cavill have - for starters.

Save it for a Supermna/Batman sequel to BvS. There are so many Bats/Supes stories WB owns through DC that would make for a straight on Bats/Supes team film.

I never thought about a Batman/Superman sequel, but we'll probably get one depending on how it stacks up to the other DCEU entries.

Batman x Superman: World's Finest

Oh hell yeah I never even considered that

That could be why they haven't announced any solos for them yet. I mean, we get a little solo action from them in BvS until they inevitably come together. WB might just be waiting to see how audiences respond. If they like them better apart, we get solos. If together, we get a BvS follow up.

I wonder what sorta threat they'd face together that wouldn't require the full league, but would warrant them coming together.
