I appreciate the posts...I am focusing on the untrue. I want to cut the untrue fat before we start listing the true meat (God Im hungry)

It's hard to refute rumors with so few official confirmations from WB. They really need to get on that.

Which is why I am focusing on the really 'so obvious I probably shouldn't need a thread to debunk this but people are gonna believe what they want instead of facing the facts' rumors.

I'm glad this thread exists. Probably one of the better start ups I've seen in a while. Thanks Roach!

I'm always around

I'm gonna go research the 'Comic-con trailer leak' rumor.

Rumor: Comic-con Trailer Leak
Source: The source for this rumor seems to be Kdramastars.com although they credit a website called Comic Central City. I did a search and could not find a news and rumor website called Comic central City.

Investigation: I am going into this investigation already not believing this rumor. I've heard this 'teaser' before on these very boards. In one of the various BvS threads someone said this would make an awesome teaser. This might be one of those cases where SHH 'catfishes' another website by making up fake news.
While investigating rumors I keep several things in mind. Does the rumor line up with what we know? and The source of the rumor. What are the chances that a website dedicated to Korean film and celebrities would be accurate on this? Especially when websites dedicated to comic book movies have heard nothing.

and then there is this:
batman-vs-superman-man-of-steel-2.jpg

http://www.flicksandbits.com/2013/0...rman-vs-batman-movie-you-are-not-alone/53428/

and while there is no date on the website the write up mentions "Last Saturday, ‘Man of Steel’ director Zack Snyder announced that he’s bringing together the two most iconic Super Heroes of all time – Batman and Superman – for the first time on the big screen." So this pic was created and uploaded a week after comic con.

So what are the chances that the artist and Zack Snyder are on the same page regarding the Comic Con teaser??? Slim to none.

Conclusion: If we get a teaser at Comic Con it won't be what is 'reported".

It seems pretty obvious that Affleck has been the man from day one. They'd probably chose Affleck over Bale 9/10 for Batman.
ONLY if they could sign him to a deal where he could direct. Otherwise there's no chance in hell that they would sign Affleck over Bale under any other circumstances, just to play Batman. No. Chance. Signing Affleck to play batman is one thing, but getting him to direct is a whole other thing. Never a guarantee. But they apparently did sign him to such a deal.

They were planning a batman vs superman movie after Rises, with Bale. Or should i say they were hoping to get Bale back for that. Which was reported in 2011. So no, Bale was always the main man. Affleck was one of the backups.

Kdramastars might actually be worse than Cosmic Book News, and that's saying a lot.

do you have links or anything to back this up?
I ask not to say you're lying but the purpose of this thread is to cut the lies from the truth.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/dark-knight-rises-star-christian-350194

At The Dark Knight Rises premiere he was pretty sure he was done..although he did give himself an out at the end if Chris comes back.

"It was a nice occasion because I took a little bit of time after we wrapped and just said, 'give me a few minutes' because I knew I wouldn't be able to put it back on again and the cowl ... and it was funny. It was a surprisingly poignant moment for me,"

"I've been very proud that people have wanted to see more. You know, we made the first one and didn't really expect to make a second one. We hoped, and that happened, and we got to make a second one," he says.
"But each time, we'd always say to each other, 'Don't expect that you're going to make any more.' So it's really great that people have liked it so much and they've enjoyed our reinvention under the guidance of Chris. And it's sad to say goodbye but it feels like the right time," he adds.
If Nolan were to, say, backtrack on his commitment to ending the franchise with The Dark Knight Rises, would Bale reprise the role?
"I'd be very skeptical about doing it," he says. "I'll never say never. What if Chris finds a great story that he decides that he wants ... well, I'm not sure that it's possible entirely. It's a tricky one to answer."

Rumor: Bryan Cranston was secretly cast as Lex Luthor and WB was waiting until Breaking Bad ended to make the announcement.

Source: Cosmic Bullsh** News

Investigation: This was on Cosmic Book News. Did it actually need an investigation? Of course, that didn't stop a few websites from taking the story and running with it.

Counter: Cranston was asked about it in an interview and he sounded open to the idea. Plus, he played a bald criminal scientist, SO IT MUST BE TRUE!!!!

Conclusion: After Breaking Bad ended, no announcement came, and CBN eventually released this story admitting that they made the whole thing up claiming Cranston got "cold feet" and exited the project. A little while later, Jesse Eisenberg, an actor HALF CRANSTON'S AGE, was cast as Lex Luthor, further confirming the fact that this rumor was horsesh**.

That's all speculation. I don't get why you're stating it as fact. Show me evidence, otherwise I'm calling shenanigans.

I'll be shocked if they didn't have a deal where Affleck portrays Batman and directs his solo outings, and in return WB is giving him a handful of films/pet projects to do in between the Batman films.

I vaguely remember reading about the 2011 attempt at a BvS film. If I'm not mistaken, they said that if Bale came back, it'd feature an older Batman mentoring a younger Superman. If Bale chose not to come back, it would feature an older Superman mentoring a younger Batman. I'm a little fuzzy on the Bale bit (he may not have even been mentioned in it), but I do recall the older/younger dynamic being the base of the supposed film. I don't remember the source of the report, so I'm not sure about its validity in general.

When I said they'd choose Affleck over Bale, I was talking about this film. While they did have a film in development (or supposedly did) back then, I wouldn't say it's still the same film from back then. That was an attempt at a BvS, just as DOJ is an attempt at a BvS film. That'd be like saying the JL we'll be getting after DOJ is the same JL film that Will Beall was writing (which is now dead). I'm not sure if you were getting at that or not, but regardless there's my "two-cents".

I still believe that prior to the BvS going into development in May, and with Bale an option (he never really was but for now lets say he was), they'd still probably pick Affleck. With Bale, they likely would have to scoff up a lot of dough for one film, and after that one film they'd be screwed. I doubt Bale would want to keep coming back after a BvS film, or even after a JL. He would have been devoting most of his career to Batman then. With Affleck, he'd be a "fresh" face that would likely be (and is) open to doing 9 films or so as Batman (and as you said, they'd also would likely have some sort of deal in place as well). You know what I mean? Bale would probably lose all interest in portraying Batman after a JL since he would have had a solo trilogy before the universe really expanded. I'd imagine he'd want to rise and fall with TDK Trilogy instead of hanging around longer. He'd be "burnt out". I doubt WB would be that shortsighted, and that's why I never believed the rumor that they were trying to get Bale back. That's just the way I see it at least.

Sadly major reporting sites picked up on it and posted the info as gospel.

Yeah. And one of them actually called CBN "typically reliable."

Journalism at its finest, folks.

Rumor: Christopher Nolan recommended Wes Bentley for Batman in BvS.

Source: Cosmic Bullsh** News

Investigation: Again, it's Cosmic Book News. If you visit this site for any other reason than a good laugh, you should get your head examined. Of course, that didn't stop other sites from not doing their research and once again taking the news and running with it.

Counter: Bentley had a lot of support for the role on these boards, so... that's something, I guess. And I'll agree that he probably would have done a good job.

Conclusion: Ben Affleck was cast as Batman. Strangely, CBN actually did name Affleck in this same article as a contender for the role, so what do you know... they actually stumbled on the truth while making a bunch of other crap up.

I'm gonna make an official announcement that Metallo is a main villain. If for some reason this seemingly likely direction is not taken, I will blame Metallo's not being in BvS as a script change by Terrio. Woo official baby!

Hahaha, yeah. I have to admit, if Metallo or Brainiac don't appear in this movie, I'm going to be angry.

I need other Superman villains on film than Lex and Zod.

Brainiac is that LONG overdue villain.

The safe bet as a rumor maker would be to state either Metallo or Brainiac with a possibility of both. All basis covered :p

Tim Allen's Brainiac that turns Spacey's Lexiac.

Yeah, I dont believe anything from kdramastars. I remember the article with the leaked rumor they had that says WW is going to be wearing the #600 costume in BvS. They used Comic Central City as their source. Then they have another article a month later that says the the Official DC Comics Mexico Facebook page have actually revealed the WW costume. But theres no such thing as an Official DC Comics Mexico Facebook page. Only fan pages.
