The UC really makes you feel bad for Superman and kind of makes more sense as to why he was so pouty. The scene where he was taking bodies out of the US Capitol building was really emotional.
Also I liked how during the Batman Superman fight was continuous. It made it seem longer and have more impact. There was no Anderson Cooper saying "Thank God all the workers left" and reiterating the fact that the buildings were empty.
I also liked Clark investigating and going to Gotham and the whole angle about Lex framing Superman with the actress and Wally.
All and all the UC was a better movie. It added scenes that should have been in the movie and were pretty integral to the plot.
The one thing I didnt understand much was why the returned checks and capitol explosion set Bruce off. Superman didn't send him the letters and wasnt responsible for the explosion...
Because of this -

Wallace Keefy was a former Wayne enterprises employee.
Many WB employees died when Zod attacked and Batman blames Superman for that and also himself for failing to protect them (feeling of rage, helplessness) similar to how he felt when Robin died as Batman failed to protect him.
Keefy was just a reminder of all that, the returned checks showed that Bruce failed to look after him, so now Batman has to do what's necessary, that is eliminate the 1 % chance that some Kryptonian will attack again.
