BvS The BvS Ultimate Cut Thread - Part 3

even if Jena Malone making the discovery about the lead wheelchair doesn't explain how Clark didn't hear the bomb

Once again, this is not a 1930's gangsta movie. Bombs don't always make a ticking sound mate. Most are quiet, super hearing or not. If Superman can't see that he has a bomb why would he listen for one?. Super hearing, much like all of Superman's powers are not switched on 24/7. He amplifies them when needed. People really need to pay attention to detail before criticizing something. It's small thing's like this that make people think the movie is badly written and directed.

It is still badly directed and the writing isn't exactly stellar. With Snyder behind the wheel, very little is except for visuals.

Ok fine, it's not wrong to see the bomb blow up and Superman doing nothing to stop it.
Faster than a speeding bullet man did nothing to stop the bomb and save people from that place to be burnt to crisp, the victims of the building that blew up had their clothes intact, and only a few scratches on their faces and unconsciousness.
Wally, the Senator, and Mercy might be the only ones to die there without their bodies appearing on screen.

I always remember from Kingdom Come and how the Preacher states that "ears that can hear a cell divide".

Dude you are reaching so damn hard now. You're literally showing that you'll go to any depth to try and find something wrong. Once again logic must now dictate this little nitpick of your's. Superman is not the Flash. The faster then a speeding bullet nonsense you refer to is a line from a 1940's cartoon serial. In this universe that Zack has created we have seen how fast Superman can go. It's impressive, no doubt. Faster than a speeding bullet?. Yeah...no, unless he's flying of course. Superman is faster when flying than he is on his feet. Please also don't refer to Superman catching the Kryptonite Canister from Batman either as a canister and a Bullet are two different thing's, vastly, also he saw Bats standing there with a gun so he had a split second to know that guns shoot thing's so he knew what to expect from that outcome. Now had Superman known just a split second before the bomb had gone off maybe, maybe he could have saved a few people before it caused a big enough blast but facts dictate that he was caught off guard. Your reactions in your general day to day life are off if you are caught by surprise and don't see something coming. You see Superman in stunned disbelief that this had happened. This disabled man was a victim, a collateral victim of Superman's. Superman looked at him with sorrow and regret I am sure, not as a potential terrorist. All these thing's should clear thing's up for you. Good day sir

I SAID GOOD DAY! :p

Are some of you saying you want Superman so overpowered and in turn kills a lot of the drama potential?

I do it with every movie, whether I like it or not, cause it's fun to nitpick and state things that are either questionable, funny, I don't like, or just plain weird.
But the bomb fire did not burn anyone, that was my point of saying that guy did not save them.

Yeah, he's even faster than that cartoon depicted him.
We had examples of how fast he can move in Man of Steel.

Good day to you too. :)

That's a tad bit ridiculous right? Writers sometimes go to far with his powers and that's one of them.

What really kills is the pressure wave (which is extremely fast, fast enough that for him to beat it and grab anyone he would have to both anticipate the bomb and splatter anyone he grabbed at the speed necessary to beat ht pressure wave), not the fire, the people that weren't burned would have definitely have been from around the area far enough from the blast radius that they weren't instakilled but were still in danger and injured.

Yeah, and its not like that he doesnt care.He saved the rescued the other people from the blast after that.He was just unable to save all of them as he was blindsided. This Superman isnt overpowered,he doesnt have silver-age powersets. He probably cant hear a cell divide. And thats fine.Otherwise I feel a lot of stakes are lost.

I stopped talking about the speed of rescue and moved on to the burn effect on victims of the explosion.
Just checking if anyone noticed that part. ;)

Eh, is it really a big deal that we didn't see a burn victim as there were surely more victims than the ones displayed from an explosion of that size but does not seeing them mean they don't exist it just so happens the ones we see are horrifically burned and this probably has something to do with the rating. I say this because horrific burns seem to be a touchy subject as I noticed in Suicide Squad when Diablo holds his girlfriend/wife after she is dead she looks untouched by the flames until she disintegrates and I suspect if they had shown and lingered on a charred corpse it would have been to graphic for the mpaa's definition of a pg-13 rating.

What about the falling debris effect? There should be more than a few scratches, something that warrants the 'R' rating for this cut, and the removal of that scene.

You do understand that during the time of Kingdom Come that Superman was on his way to becoming a God almost where Kryptonite had no effect on him and his aging even slowed down.

I can't believe I just noticed something I didn't before.

After Supes absorbs the energy from the sun, and after Wonder Woman absorbs DD's first blast, When Supes returns back to at full speed and throws DD at fuel tanks you can see the lightning type effect of him entering the atmosphere. Freaking awesome.

Thank God.

Huh? The guy only delivered the best movies of the genre. Faithful to the source material, and just flat out great films.

Nolan single handed brought comic book movies to a level of respectability film wise they had never been at before, or since. So not quite sure what you mean by that honestly.

But it feels quite disrespectful, especially comparing him to a proven hack like Zach Snyder and then saying thank god?

:loco:

I agree that Synder is no Nolan but, I don't understand all of these hack comments I keep reading about Synder. Where were all of these hack references when Zack made 300, Watchmen, and Man of Steel. I don't recall anyone saying this during the production of BvS either. Synder was considered to be a decent yet, divisive comic book director for years and after one disappointing CBM he becomes a hack?

While I agree, more important than the logic behind him not seeing the bomb is the thematic reason. Clark didn't see the bomb because he is too trusting of humanity. He sees the good in the world and would never expect that to happen.

That's my biggest problem with the Malone scenes, it takes that element away by implying that he was looking and couldn't see it. Well, that and the fact that his difficulty with lead is never established in the universe.

Doesn't matter what the Malone scene implies. Going by what Clark said on the balcony, even if the chair wasn't lead lined, he probably wouldn't have noticed it.

You may not remember the genesis of his hack label, but I do. It really picked up steam around the time of Sucker Punch in 2011, and Snyder's successive work has done nothing but fuel that perception. So I'd say it's been a solid five years now.

Was it ever established in this universe that Superman has difficulty with lead?
