Captain Marvel The Captain Marvel box office prediction thread

What is up with that "Jeremy coming to you with a another video" dude at G&G ? Every fricking day he makes a video about Brie Larson or boycotting cap marvel. Did Larson beatup his mother or something ? He made another video celebrating the 70% plus drop on monday.....

I cannot see this movie NOT making a billion dollars.
Guy has no clue about typical box office trends for certain days. He tried comparing CM's numbers with BvS, which are a non-starter because BvS came out on Easter weekend rather than a normal weekend. CM has more in common now with Beauty and the Beast and Hunger Games than BvS and is performing slightly above average for a March release and CBM film.

I'm sure he'll still bash CM even after it crosses 1B; he is a nutjob.

He may have just been looking at the list of MCU films like the one that was posted here, or a similar list. Most are not good comps, especially for the Sunday-Monday drop.

Hunger Games is the closest in terms of the opening weekend in March, and that movie did get to 400M+. These projections would put Captain Marvel's 2nd weekend significantly ahead of that movie's 2nd weekend.

It opened at 152.5M and dropped to 58.5M.

Yeah it’s clickbait for his site’s traffic sake. CM is the talk of town at the Moment and he knows it. Otherwise if someone is that obsessive about a movie, either love or hate, he should get help.

Tell that to the people in the "Keep Hope Alive" thread - Part 1547.

I kept hope alive for 5 years that I would end up liking this goddamn movie. The last thing I expected was that Marvel would drop the ball on it so hard.

Like, my worst case scenario was that the movie would be an interesting "failure" like Iron Man 3. I sure as heck wasn't expecting "Thor, sort of, but with a woman".
Thor was a great movie, that was the first MCU movie I saw. And imo, captain marvel is better.

:cwink: I hate to say it but, Robert Storms is proof that not all incels wanted this movie to fail because there's no way that boy is getting any ;)

I think he might be married? I at least appreciate his rant against all those idiots like Geeks and Gamers. His Jeremy impression had me laughing. Especially since Jeremy has now made a video that claims CM needs to make $750 million to break even. :loco:

Did Larson beatup his mother or something ? .
You reminded me of "the star wars girl" who posted a video about how "Brie encourages violence to men". It was triggered by a joke Brie made about how her training has made her feel strong enough to throw a random guy over her shoulder.
This vlogger went on a nonsensical rant about gender preferential treatment. it twas bizarre and embarrassing. "If RDJ said that about a woman blah blah". I've never seen someone reach so desperately.

Yea I caught that too. The sheer joy in his reaction really is the definition of toxic fandom, and I don't use the term toxic lightly. There's nothing wrong with having an opinion and hating the film, but this guy is acting like it's a personal victory for him.

And even with the supposed 70% drop, I can't see this movie not making a billion. Disney will keep it in theatres right up till Endgame. They'll use CM as part of the Endgame promotion. And I think there's still general audience's that are going to check it out.

Not sure why those morons are acting like the "bad" drop is a victory for them... their claim was never that people would watch the movie and then dislike it, it was that people would straight up refuse to go watch it. That didn't happen.

But why am I bringing facts into this, those people have more worms in their heads than brain matter.

I think the failure of female Ghostbusters emboldened those A-holes to try and sabotage any movies that they don't like or make it as political or polarizing as possible so they can get people with extremist views on their side. It's the toxic byproduct of the success that comic book movies are experiencing right now.

Latest update from Charlie over at BOT points to ~$8.7M Wednesday. It's fine, especially if we take into account the good bump it got on Tuesday.

Also Friday pre-sales in China seem to indicate a 75%-80% drop for a ~$18M-$21M weekend (sum around $120M-$130M).

I think Solo is the movie that deluded them into believing their opinions matter more than they actually do. They really thought Solo underperformed because of their stupid boycott, when in reality it was a mix of factors.

So does look they're featuring Carol in the new Avengers Endgame trailer, poster and promo. Certainly likely to give movie added exposure. surprised its so early but then again the window between the release of the two movies isn't that big. I echo what has already been said by others, CM could see a upturn in BO the week before endgame debuts.

I think the underlying sad problem is that, essentially, they have barged in and taken the dubious reaction to TLJ as proof that "they were right", when it was nothing of the sort. Yes, there was a distinct negative reaction post-TLJ, but it had nothing to do with the whole "women and minorities" cause they avowed. They are basically coat-tailing on Rian Johnson's bad story decisions, in order to claim victory.

I liked TLJ but yeah, feeeeeemales weren't the reason that movie was so divisive even among normal people.

His rant was pretty funny.

On the 750 million thing even if that was true(it's not), it's going to blow by that number easily. I wonder where he is going to move the goal post next?

Yep.

FOX really wasted the full potential of the X-Men, smh.

Worry not for The Feige is coming to fix it.

X-Men ensemble movies should do Avengers like numbers. 1B should be the floor. It'll take time to get the audience hooked though.

I can already hear them saying "Endgame trailer saved CM from a monstrous 90% drop on second weekend!!!!!"....stupid mother-flerkens
