The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 1

Who implied it?

WB would be, if they have a Catwoman in the "present" played by an actress in her early twenties, and then make vague allusions to a traditional romantic villainess relationship between Batman and Catwoman following the comics. Which is why I *hope* they cast older, someone who is Hollywood-plausible in the same age bracket as Ben Affleck. I just don't have much faith in WB's decision making.

WB was fine with casting an older actor for Lois Lane so I don't see why they wouldn't want a Selina the same age range as Ben.

They could always put in Holly as Selina's protege if they want twenty-something eye-candy.

I guess they wouldn't cast her because they'd want to distance themselves from the Nolan films,but I've always loved Anne Hathaway as Selina/Catwoman. At the very least I keep hoping they give her a spinoff movie.

Okay seriously, even if you liked Hathaway's performance as character (can't understand it, but to each their own), there's no way she's coming back, so bringing her up is entirely pointless.

Okay seriously, even if you liked Hathaway's performance as character (can't understand it, but to each their own), there's no way she's coming back, so bringing her up is entirely pointless.

It's almost like they're completely ignoring the DCEU has absolutely nothing to do with Nolan's films.

And I'll third that Bale deserved so much more than what Hathaway delivered in TDKR. Was one of the weakest points of the movie, imo.

Agreed, she was blander that a watery broth of unseasoned tofu. It's an achievement of sorts to make a character like Catwoman so unexciting.

Hathaway is one of the few leading ladies Bale has had a spark of chemistry with. Bale is a great actor, but he can be very hit or miss in terms of playing off leading ladies. Look no further than Holmes and Gyllenhaal (the latter of whom is a great actress).

Hathaway also nailed the part. I'm not saying it was a Ledger caliber performance as the Joker, but she perfectly inhabited a comic book accurate take on the character (yes, yes, no whip or cat puns notwithstanding). If you look past preconceived notions of the actress, you would see she gave a great performance in the movie.

Anne Hathaway worked but Michelle Pfeiffer's take was iconic and transcendent.

I still think angelina Jolie was born for this role

Pfeiffer played a crazy, immortal cat lady rather well. However, the character was barely Catwoman.

Especially if we're talking age. There are literally no negatives to using an actress of comparable age to Affleck that anyone here could come up with that'll make me go "Yeah, you're right. Let's got 25."

Interesting thing about Arterton... I dismissed her as too young for so long, not realizing that she's in her thirties, despite the fact that playing sultry characters is right up her alley. Also, she can pull off a convincing American accent, as evidenced by that "Hansel and Gretel" crap. As a bonus, she can pull off a pixie cut:

She grows more stunning with age. She would be a great choice (though one that would leave me in need of a different choice for Poison Ivy).

Anne Hathaway was a great Selina. Will she come back? No, this isn't Nolan-verse. But she was a very good Selina/Catwoman.

I'm hoping for this Selina Kyle, they go down a more daring/interesting route. Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Thandie Newton, Mackenzie Davis? Someone outside of the usual choices like Charlize Theron, Kate Beckinsale, etc.
