The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 2

Well in my mind, she agrees to be Bruce's informant and double crosses her team just before they get their big payoff. But then double crosses batman and gets what she wants.

Yes, but what is done is done and if the actress they cast as Catwoman is too old then Harley Quinn is going to look like Selina's daughter instead of a BFF. In the Gotham City Sirens comic books Selina, Ivy, and Harley are roughly the same age. And just because Catwoman and Batman have had a history in other universes doesn't mean they do here. Superman and Batman were pals from the time they both started in other universes. But in the DCEU they just met even though Bruce has been Batman for years and Clark is just getting started as Superman. So if Bruce can just have met Clark, why can't Bruce also just have met Selina? Basically once canon is tossed out the window, anything is possible. If they were sticking to canon, Selina wouldn't even be Catwoman anymore. She'd be running an escort service, like in The Dark Knight Returns, which this Batman is sort of based on.

Catwoman is neither Harley's BFF nor was she created to play off Harley. They made this exact same mistake with Joker in SS where they gave preference to Joker/Harley over Batman and Joker. Real Joker would'nt have given a crap about finding Harley.
Lets not lose priority here, they've already destroyed Ivy in the comics so that she can act as Harley's cutsie, submissive lover. Joker has taken a hit too, last thing Catwoman needs is this. Harley/Cat is secondary to Bat/Cat and same goes for Batman/Joker. This is a shared universe and they just cant rush it.

GCS is just a small part of Catwoman's history, her relationship with Batman cant be compared to a short lived book that was neither a critical success nor sales behemoth. How many times has HQ appeared in Catwoman books? I can safely say zero or close to zero.

They can be friends in the DCEU but favoring Harley/Cat over all other aspects of Catwoman and Bat/Cat is a MASSIVE disservice to Catwoman. They pulled the exact same crap with Leto's Joker and they do the same with Ivy in the comics these days.

The solo Batman movie and the Sirens movie are both taking place in the same universe. The same continuity.

Exactly the TDKR incarnation of Catwoman/Selina Kyle was the most accurate so if they do re-introduce her in the Batman universe in the mythos of course they will most likely portray the character in the same way that Nolan did but with a few differences here and there

But we have seen Catwoman plenty of times on screen so it begs the question of if they even decide to bring her into Batman's solo universe especially with Affleck playing the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman

Anne looked amazing as Selina/Catwoman. Anyone who says she was the weak point of the movie need to reevaluate their opinions. I thought she was the most entertaining thing about the final film. Sure, she didnt have the cowl/mask but Nolan claimed that his favorite Batman was from the 60's and it shows.

Hoping they go for the same, streetwise Selina over the more dramatic/mystical Returns Catwoman. I say this as a fan of Pfeiffer as she was the one who made me fall in love with the character.

Yeah, I liked Anne a lot. I feel like a lot of the people who trash her never gave here a chance in the first place. Not saying it's that way for ALL of her detractors, but much like Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, there were people saying she would suck back before TDKR even had a teaser.

She didn't suck, she was just boring to me. I know it was supposed to be more cynical Selina who was looking for her way out of that life, so the way the character was written wasn't doing her any favors as well. Also her costume was probably the worst in the entire TDK trilogy, with that silly domino mask and flowing hair. Not to mention stiletto shoes.

Since certain people want to say Angelina Jolie for Selina Kyle/Catwoman I mean Angelina definitely has the look but at the same time she is age appropriate for Ben in the sense that she and Ben Affleck are roughly within the same age group but at the same time though I think Angelina she may be too big for this role as far as star power goes

But then again Angelina Jolie I don't think has ever been in a comic book movie before so to see her as Selina Kyle as Catwoman to Ben Affleck's Batman I definitely could get behind that

What do you think the Gotham City Sirens movie is based on if not the Gotham City Sirens comic books? It's not a solo Catwoman movie so who appeared in the Catwoman comic books is irrelevant.
And there is no proof or even much of any rumors that Catwoman will be in The Batman, so how Catwoman relates to Batman may also be irrelevant.

Catwoman from TDKR was much more canonical depiction for sure. Does it automatically make her better/more interesting than Pfeiffer? Depends on who you ask. I personally thought she wasn't that interesting, but I liked the costume A LOT.

Jolie did Wanted, though they didn't exactly cast comic accurately for that.
Im still of the belief that we will hear Sienna Millers name quite a bit as casting starts. Reeves does have that Keri Russel connection...
