That is the new catchphrase for 2009, man.

Wait, how did the guy wander into the scene?
There's loads of cameras, people watching, the actors acting.
Bale may have over done it but to walk in on the scene is quite a silly thing to do.

because he didnt most likely..

It was most likely a Close up or a Two shot of Bale and Bryce.(big emotional climax of movie). Mr. DP wasnt even in the shot but in Bale's "eyeline" setting up/checking on the lights for the next set up.

Bale didnt like the movement in the background (again, this is probably totally off camera, I mean McPu$$y didnt even see him for christsakes) and it took him out of character.which i understand is very big for a method actor BUT you dont react like that.

Maybe you do, but not for 4 minutes haha

I love this. I know his reaction may have been a little much, but I know what that's like. This is hilarious. lmao

Why AICN Doesn't Post Links To Stories Like This Christian Bale thing that's everywhere!

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm getting slammed with assloads of people angry at me for not posting the Bale explosion from the set of McG's TERMINATOR: SALVATION. Well, first off - there's a real simple reason. It isn't news. And it certainly isn't cool news. It is a moment in a man's life taken completely out of context and most likely leaked to personally embarrass Christian Bale. Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking... There's no excuse for a temper tantrum like that to ever occur and if you are going to act that way, you deserve to be embarrassed by your own actions.
Except, you want to hear the REALITY behind that clip?
I know this because I happen to be somewhere where someone that was there that day and for the shoot is. And this person isn't a publicist, nor are they invested in Bale's career. They're just someone that thinks it is absolute bullshi* that this moment in Bale's life is being aired and that the real story should get out there.
The DP on TERMINATOR SALVATION, Shane Hurlbut, is a apparently a light tweaker. He's a fairly young DP and likes to fiddle with his lights on set during action, which is a big "NO NO" on most productions unless worked out in advance with performers. But apparently Shane was a pretty unrepentant light tweaker.
The scene in question, was a very emotional and tough scene between Christian Bale and Bryce Howard. A scene that required soul bearing and a deep level of immersive concentration. The sort of scene where everyone on set knows not to get in anyone's eye lines, and definitely not to move lights around while FILMING. You lock that shi* down before the scene starts.
Bale had indeed warned the DP on multiple occasions about messing with lights while the cameras were rolling, and Bale was in the midst of a painful scene with Bryce, what was described to me as being the emotional center of the film and his character for the film.
Now, the reason I know all of this is because the person that was there, felt that it should be made perfectly clear that Christian Bale was the utmost gentleman and cool guy on set. And the DP really was doing something that professional DPs with experience just don't do. Not during a performance.
You don't need me to give you a link, it's all over the internet, I just felt that you should know what really went down - and that this particular outburst did indeed modify the DP's behavior - and for future DPs. poo poo with the lights before and after your actors are acting. Not during.

Look even if the Dp was a total and complete idiot ( He wasnt exactly green, he did some big production movies before, crappy movies, but still) he doesnt deserve to be yelled at like this...

I love Harry. Love his site. Love Bale as an actor and appreciate Jett's love of all things batman (there I said it) but there is no way they are going to make me beleive that this was called for.

i mean can you imagine deniro/ Day Lewis/ dicaprio going off for 5 freakin minutes? please...

Im actually more angry at McG than bale in truth.

And he was looking for camerons blessing. BAH!

Apparently Gary Oldman and Coppola got to the point of throwing things at each other during the filming of Dracula.

wow.... i have some respect for Har now.....

come on.... anyone remember Lily Tomlin? can't remember the director now or the movie for that matter, but she was very pissed at the director.... I'll go and look.....

Like I said before, I understand if you get mad at someone, and yell a few things and be done with it. But to go off in a hysterical rant, with physical threats thrown in, for over 5 minutes is a little absurd.

Yeah, it kind of sucks that its out there, but to deny that now is just blind. Sorry about how the internet works, but information is EVERYWHERE nowadays.

David O. Russell, I Heart Huckabees, I think. That was messed up, cause I LOVED 'Three Kings.'

I recently watched the Dracula SE, and the Making-of showed a few very tense scenes between Oldman & Coppolla. (No throwing though!)

He didn't wander into the shot - that would be stupidest thing to do and would probably get him blacklisted in Hollywood, especially if he was a director of photography.

He was walking in the background where Bale could see him, and thus be distracted. Even though it wasn't as stupid as walking into the shot itself, still a stupid thing to do.

What does it say about me that the first question I had about this incident was, "Why wasn't the DP behind the camera? :funny: "

:lmao: What sort of things?

lets us all not forget that david O'ruussel is a complete jerk.

Clooney and him almost came to blows because O'russel was demeaning a PA on set in front of everyone and clooney came to the guys rescue...

Oldman and Coppala is a good one too. when you get two people with real passion butting heads, i think it boarders on the good side.

Having one guy bend another over in front of everyone on set (a'la Bale) is another thing entirely...

Having just rewatched that Russell/Tomlin clip, it's still painful but funny when Russell storms off set in one direction, then reappears from another door to curse some more. Movie magic!

But c'mon, that doesn't excuse Bale's unprofessional behavior. I read Harry's article, I understand all of that, he was way out of line. Can you see anyone else going off saying, "I'M GONNA KICK YOU ASS!" and the crew had to settle him down and he does on for three minutes? Yeah, the DP did screw up, but why the hell are people defending Bale?

I don't blame McG, I don't think he wanted to interfere, that would of made Bale worse and let it play out so Bale wouldn't actually walk off the set.

Though I did laugh at Bale roaring when he says, "McG, Did you see what this prick did?!" And then McG softly and so laid back and cool like from the background says, "I don't know I didn't see it." :lmao:

Yeah it was a bit over the top, but the thing that makes Bale such a good actor when it comes to these intense, obsessive type of characters is because that's how he really comes across. Anyone who goes to the extreme physical and mental transformations Bale does must be a kind of intense, obsessive individual in their own right, something he's admitted in interviews before. I can see something very small triggering him like that, not to say that it's right, but I can understand it making a person with that kind of personality explode
