The Clinton Thread

Nice.

That;s the perfect stragedy, actually. It takes the weight completely off Obama. It can't be twisted to look like Obama forced her out.

Amazing Kaine, that you ***** about Clinton trying to change rules mid-way through in regards to caucus states and Michigan and Florida, but have no problem with the rules changing in the 4th quarter when it supports Obama

You guys are hilarious. Seriously, you guys are making me feel bad for Hillary Clinton with all your "OMG! Did she see what she didn't say?! She's the devil!"

I'm the same way. The way certain posters treat Clinton like the anti-Christ make me feel bad for a woman I despise.

What part of "he has enough delegates to declare himself the nominee" and "she hasnt dropped out or acknowledged it" dont you understand? Atleast when Huckabee stayed in, he left when McCain got the right amount of delegates.

What the hell is Hillary still doing here, seriously? Can someone answer this?

She's still in because nearly 18 million people voted for her (more than people who voted for Obama) and she isn't going to come out of this with nothing to show. (Her supporters largely feel the same way.)

Huckabee never had a chance in hell and you know it. He didn't have the support that Clinton STILL does. Yes, Clinton lost. Obama won. But Hillary Clinton still has a tremendous amount of support and Obama needs to recognize that. All of that isn't going to fade away just because he became the nominee.

I find that amusing too Matt.

But it's not like because she finished second in the Democratic primary, that she deserves to be the VP. It may be her, it may not.

I'm not saying that it does, I'm just saying that alot of these people feel incredibly disrespected. By the media, by Obama's supporters, and to an extent, Obama himself. And something needs to be done about that. She has to come out of this with something to show.

You know?

I agree, as much as I hate pandering to a self important nothing, the clinton brand name must be respected or about half of democrats are going to turn republican out of sheer spite. Much as it pains me to say, Obama needs to fundraise to pay clinton back the money out of pocket and give her a cabinet position or he'll probably lose the race. God that's sad.

I don't think he can give her the VP spot, especially after the RFK speech, just too damning.

Yeah, I think Obama has to end up helping her pay back her debt and promise her a cabinet position or something, but giving her the VP slot might be too much to ask, considering their rift during the election.

Why does Obama need to pay Clinton her money back? I've never heard of this before, the winner needs to pay back the loser for money spent on their campaign. Maybe after the next Superbowl the winning team should pay for the losing team's salary that year, to mend the rift between them.

The "Dream ticket," in my opinion has become a nightmare ticket...but at this point, I'm not sure Obama has another choice.

Are you saying that as an Obama supporter or someone who is thinking of what would be best for the party?

I'm saying that as a person who has never seen the point of rewarding second place

The only problem is, a cabinet position will be post-election and will do little to appease her supporters by November as it is not common for a candidate who has not yet won to say "I'll give so and so a cabinet spot."

As for paying off her debts, that is more of a behind the scenes type thing. It lacks the publicity to appease her supporters.

The only way I can see him gaining her supporters is by giving her the VP nomination.

Why does Obama need to pay Clinton her money back? I've never heard of this before, the winner needs to pay back the loser for money spent on their campaign.

Its not an uncommon practice.

That's the type of "dismissal mentality" towards Clinton and her supporters that I'm talking about. This isn't just any second place. It's nearly 18 million votes and a very strong bloc of support in the general election.

So I guess you would support amazingfantasy15's point of the team that won the Superbowl to pay the salaries for the team they just beat? Or how about the owners of Big Brown handle the finances of the owner of Eight Bells?

Everyone is dismissive of the team or person that finished second. In a race, it's being the first loser. In sports, it's being the last team to lose.

Her supporters are grown-ups, they'll get past this just fine.

Well, for one this isn't sports. And secondly, it is not uncommon to repay other's debts in politics.

I noticed that after I posted. Idiotic idea but oh well.

It would actually being like the major leagues saying to the team that lost in the finals or championship game "You mean a lot to us, especially since you're in a major market and we don't want to lose your fanbase. Therefore, you will get the first pick in the draft."

Yeah, well the New England Patriots won every game except the one that counts, I guess using this mentality Giants fans should share the Superbowl victory with Patroits fans. Second place is still losing, she didn't win and if her supporters vote for someone that has vastly different views on where this country should be headed, I'm truly scared for the country.

Or they could just not vote at all. How would that help Obama?

I guess when it comes to politics, adults are nothing more than children

I think the term "lambs" would be more accurate. (Yes, that was a baby sheep reference...oooohhhhh..... :o ).

Lambs don't throw a temper tantrum when they don't get their way, or their favorite person loses.

Lambs just chew cud, suck on their mother's teets, and get shorn in the summer. And then the long trip to the slaughterhouse

I can see you are a city boy. Lambs will indeed pitch a fit when they don't get what they want, my friend.
