And with that last post, I am dropping Shadow Walker, for now at least. I may revisit him sometime down the road, but for now I've finished his story.

Hello everyone!
Here is my request form.

Create a Hero RPG SEASON III Application

Character you have created: Professor Steven Harris
Alias: FLAMEHAWK

Speech Color: Red

Character Alignment: Hero

Identity: Secret

Character Personality: Steven is both a overly bold and cautious person. He approaches most situations with care, unless he knows lives are at stake. He believes in helping others who can’t help themselves. He believes in standing up against those that make other Super Humans look bad. He’s a hero.

Uniform/costume:
How about if I simply show you?
Flamehawk-colored.jpg

Origin Info/Details:
Steven Harris is a young Archeology Professor for the Museum of Ancient and Modern Wonders.
While traveling in Cairo, Egypt which he was there appraising some recently purchased items for the Museum he works for.
He overheard a woman’s screams.
Running in the direction of the screams he saw several men in black jumpsuits that had a gold pyramid with an eye in the center of it, struggling with an extremely old woman brandishing what looked to be a gold and red staff.
Foolhardily he went to her rescue as there was no one else around.
He fought off the men (plus one woman) having the advantage ofsurprise.
When the woman in black pulled out a gun and went to shoot him. The old woman jumped between them, being shot instead.
As she collapsed, Steven caught her. He pulled out a white handkerchief to stop the bleeding as he glared at the women cloaked fully in her too tight black outfit.
The woman grabbed the fallen staff and Steven Grabbed the other end.
The old woman started screaming and though Steven spoke Egyptian well, She was going to fast for him to translate.
But he did catch one perplexing part. “A man may not touch my blood and the Staff at the same time!”
That was all he remembered.
the golden staff shattered and there was a screech so shrill and high it made his eyes roll back… and he soared high into the sky… on wings of flame.
Steven felt his body burning, as darkness consumed him.
He awoke later to discover himself in some odd Oasis, A secret Oasis hidden, but for only those few that could actually traverse into the region it lay
A man dressed like a Pharaoh was looking down at him.
Steven would learn this was the Golden Pharaoh. A (heritage) hero of Egypt.
This particular Golden Pharaoh was only just weeks ago appointed to his position after a lifetime of training since birth. (This would be my second character if he meets approval - he is quite powerful… I will get to him in another request form).
Steven discovered he had been rescued by the Golden Pharaoh and brought to a secret place few knew of in the world of the common man.
Golden Pharaoh. Jabari was honor-bound to help still the raging fire from within Steven Harris.

This hero of Egypt told him what had happened to him.
That he had become the sacred third element… he had become the guardian of the living essence of flame… he was now until death… Protector of the Phoenix. Inadvertently become a hybrid mix of human and the elemental bird of fire, The Phoenix
Coming to terms with this. His guardianship… he was trained by Pharaoh in this otherworldly secret Golden Oasis of the Sun in the middle of the Egyptian desert…if indeed that was where they were.
He learned he could form powerful flaming wings under his arms, he could wield and project flame or fire, that he was immune to the effects of fire. He could speak to all forms of avians and he could ask them to do his bidding. That he could fly into the void of space and survive and finally he could an ear shattering bird-cry that could crumble or shatter stone. But he also discovered he no longer needed to drink water (While in firebird form).
Steven eventually left the Oasis and discovered so little time had past that it only seemed he had been gone days in the real world. Pharaoh told him he was free to do as he pleased and go where he wanted.
So Steven went home and after a lot of explaining (never revealing his fate in Egypt).
He returned to work and eventually became Flamehawk.

Hero Type: Elemental (Select: Fire)/Supernatural (Phoenix)

Power Level: World Level (Potential Cosmic).

Powers:

1) Transform into Flamehawk (Hybrid Human/Phoenix) which gives him the following abilities.

I) Form powerful flaming wings under his arms which allows him to fly. That allow him to fly into the void of space and survive. His flight speeds can curve upwards to almost Mach 2

II) Wield and project extreme flame or fire and absorb it (Which can replenish his energy levels) as well as being immune to the effects of fire.

III) He could an ear shattering bird-cry that could crumble or shatter stone.

IV) His body was stronger (10 Tons), resilient, more agile and his senses are heightened to at least twice that of a normal human’s.

V) He could speak to all forms of birds.

VI) He no longer needed to drink water (While in firebird form).

VII) Healing Flames, Using special flames he can heal himself and others. The unfortunate side effect of him using it on others is he becomes very weakened.

Attributes: (Select one at each category):

Strength Level: 10

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 20 (I assume this doesn’t include flight speeds).

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2

Agility: 3X

Intelligence: Average

Fighting Skill: Untrained (Though he took some boxing when younger)

Resources: Average.

Weaknesses: nothing really comes to mind beyond the common things that may ail a humans when he is not transformed. He is not invincible or nothing. Though he certainly can take his share of hard knocks.
His flames are not affected by water. He can maintain his flaming wings underwater. He just creates a massive amount of steam/bubbles.

Supporting Characters: Golden Pharaoh might become a supporting character of sorts (If he is approved). I will most definitely make up a plethora of surrounding characters. Family, Co-Workers and whatever else is needed.

List a few reasons why you've created that character:
I designed this character when I was kid.
His name was originally Redwing (The original design was close to this), Though the helm is new and a sweet design.
I have always loved the phoenix myth, winged characters and heroes that use fire (It is as scary as it is beautiful).
I personally think he is spectacular looking, visually.

What can you bring to the RPG?: Well I feel I am a damn fine artist and I would be happy to lend my skills with doing (Some) illustrations, I am creative, I write rather well, or at least I think I do. Plus I have an undying love for superheroes.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?: Yeah I think I have that one worked out.

Sample Post (Minimum Four paragraphs containing dialogue):

Just so your aware. This is the Russian version of the same character. I assume what your looking for is “Can I write dialogue?” Hopefully this will be sufficient.

Here is also a pic that is part of the below paragraphs (well, at least what he was fighting), I show it mostly because it gives a clearer view of Flamehawk's costume and wing-flames.

FlamehawkvsBlueRageDemonsmall.jpg

Mother Russia walked up. “You okay comrade?
Miacha nodded. His pride was hurt. Saved, once again by Mother Russia. “Anatole. He just wouldn’t stop no matter what I did.”
She glanced back at the massive blue creature being hauled into the Hover Jet’s cargo bay. “Understandable. Blue Scaled Demon is one of the most resilient of the bad Chernobyl mutates.”
He smiled. “I have two men that need rescuing up on the Cliff side.”
Mother Russia put her hand out and Miacha stopped. “You get on the T2. We will get them. You are hurt and need to stop before you make it worse.”
Miacha nodded and started walking towards the T2 Hover Jet.
He smiled, though his body ached.
Sasha had come through for him. (NOTE: She had called the other Russian Heroes for him)
They had captured the rampaging mutate.
In addition, as Miacha would soon learn. Both men, though injured were okay and had wounds only mildly worse than his own.

FINAL NOTE: I know he is pretty powerful. But if I was to play a character in a game it would be this one. I have others but I think he is just visually such a gorgeous character.
I feel I play fair. I spent 17yrs as a DM/GM, I had a 13yr Greyhawk Campaign and a 6 yr Villains and Vigilantes campaign (and lots of smaller ones besides those massive two).
I know what it takes to make a game roll as well as a story.
So please consider this character.

Plus; after looking over a few of the posts. I see you have a winged character type in Archangel.
Though for the record, this one is different type of winged character with a totally unrelated background.

Thanks for considering!

I was curious if there was some form of summery of events aside from the intro about the attack on Earth.
Who were they?
Did they destroy portions of the world?
If so which parts?
How was America affected?
What is the political climate after an event of this magnitude?
How was New York affected (Since that is likely where my character will hail from)?
What is the general regular human outlook on Super Beings?
What level of tech are we dealing with?

Not a lot of questions mind you. LOL

G7

Also. Am I suppose to write my first story as his origin one?
This will be his first outing as a hero (after his origin in Egypt).
I assume I should take some consideration about the Invasion in there somewhere and at least make an honorable mention.
So can I just pick up where my origin in his profile left off?

Thanks. Sorry... expect me to be just chucked full of questions.

I'll answer them as best I can but NiteMare could probably give better/more accurate answers:

I was curious if there was some form of summery of events aside from the intro about the attack on Earth. There's a SHH RPG wiki but it's kind of out of date as not many peopl update it regularly :/
Who were they?
An alien race called the Arlaaekans (sic)
Did they destroy portions of the world?
Destroyed cities and the like, yes.
If so which parts?
Paris is the only one I can remember, there were more.
How was America affected?
Hit hard like the rest of the world, however there's been over half a year of global recovery/rebuilding.
What is the political climate after an event of this magnitude?
Um, I don't know that that's been addressed in depth
How was New York affected (Since that is likely where my character will hail from)?
I don't recall but I would assume it was attacked and mostly rebuilt?
What is the general regular human outlook on Super Beings?
There have been so many that they've been sort of accepted as the norm but people have varying opinions of them, I'd imagine.
What level of tech are we dealing with?
The same level of tech as the real world but some organizations/characters with larger resources or advanced intelligence have more sophisticated stuff.

Not a lot of questions mind you. LOL

G7

Also. Am I suppose to write my first story as his origin one?
Yes. There are no pre-established characters unless the character has been with us in a past season. Your first posts should be his origin.

This will be his first outing as a hero (after his origin in Egypt).
I assume I should take some consideration about the Invasion in there somewhere and at least make an honorable mention.
So can I just pick up where my origin in his profile left off?

That's up to the GMs I guess, so I'd wait until one of them answers this one.

Thanks. Sorry... expect me to be just chucked full of questions.

To add to Rain Dog's answers, the moon was also destroyed. Regarding the political climate, it's become a little shakier as a result of a few metahuman terrorist incidents, which STRIKE (our version of an evil SHIELD, more or less) is using as leverage to start waging war on unregistered metas.

The moon wasn't destroyed, was it?

It's just in three big pieces now. There's a difference ;)

Okay. Then origin(s) it is.

With that though. Comes the Character of Golden Pharaoh (IF he is allowable mind you).

So here is the App for him.

Create a Hero RPG SEASON III Application

Character you have created: Jabari (brave) Minkah (justice)
Alias:

GoldenPharaohLogo.jpg

Speech Color: ORANGE

Character Alignment: Hero

Identity: Secret - Though mostly to him irrelevant (He is always Golden Pharaoh)

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): GP/Jabari is a straight to the point kind of person. He does not mince words and feels his duties are to combat whatever darkness crawls upon the earth. He is foremost the protector of Egypt.

Uniform/costume: See Images.

GoldenPharaoh.jpg

Origin Info/Details:
Jabari Minkah was born with a known destiny. He was to become the next great Guardian of Egypt and through him the power bestowed upon him primarily by the Great God Horus would aid him in defending Egypt.
Jabari grew up knowing his destiny.
His training in the Golden Oasis of the Sun took all of his youth to complete. He has known no other life since an infant.
Jabari was a difficult student. He questioned aspects of his training, No other had before him.
This concerned his tutors (Monk-like priests who were there to aid him and tend to him in whatever manner he deemed).
It concerned the omnipotent bestowals of his abilities as well.
No other had been born that could replace him, With apprehension and having other option. They bestowed within him the powers of the previous Golden Pharaoh (Who had ONLY operated ever in Egypt)
Jabari did question the rules of his Guardianship.
He did not understand why he was to isolate himself to Egypt and Egypt alone.
When a proactive approach to dealing with the evils and menaces of the world would in the end serve Egypt.
He was not favored in the Golden Oasis by his powerful mentors for this stance or his opinions.
When he defied the laws set upon him by the Powerful Egyptian Beings known as the Gods. They removed all help and natural assistants that were normally available for consultation by the previous Golden Pharaohs (essentially they refused to help him by giving advice and summoned away the Monk-like Priests).
He was left unaccompanied and shunned by the powers that be, as penalty for his defiance of accepted wisdom, They prepared to find a new successor to the mantle of Golden Pharaoh.
By predestined tenet, they could not remove the abilities from him. He still was the preordained inheritor of the Golden Pharaoh mantle.
Much to the surprise from the Benevolent side of the conferring beings. Jabari took to his tasks with enlightened creativity.
He did defend Egypt first from all manner of outside threats and those from within.
Jabari, unlike any Golden Pharaoh before him, wished to traveled the world and fight evil, injustice and darkness. Unique usage of the Golden Ankh Scepter allows him to hone in, seek or hunt down the dark blights upon the world.
At one junction point. In his young career. He came to the aid of the Possessor of the Sacred Fire.
During the skirmish and while Jabari fought off those that would steal the Staff of the Phoenix from the Preserver Priestess of the Sacred Fire.
The Preserver was knocked to the ground and injured, causing her to bleed. A nearby Archeologist from America named Steven Harris went to her aid. His hand touched her blood when he tried to save her. She screamed that no man may touch her blood.
The thief holding the Staff of the Phoenix was stopped as Harris had grabbed the end of the Staff of the Phoenix. This caused the staff to explode in an enormous plume of flame and heat. Killing the thieves and launching into the air on under-wings of fire.
As destined by decree of being the Golden Pharaoh. Jabari was honor-bound to help still the raging fire from within Steven Harris.
He took and trained the young American man in the Golden Oasis of the Sun in the usage of his powers, As Steven had inadvertently become a hybrid mix of human and the elemental bird of fire, The Phoenix.
It did not take long for Steven to take to his training.
He was eventually freed and told that he could do as he pleased as the Phoenix through him was now once again free to fly. Steven returned to America.
Golden Pharaoh was left alone again at the Golden Oasis of the Sun.

GoldenPharaohflysawayfromtheGoldenOasisoftheSun2a.jpg

Hero Type : Supernatural (Divine agent)

Power Level: World Level (Like a low level Thor, only Egyptian).

Powers:

As the Golden Pharaoh. Jabari can:

1- Blazing bolts of Sun Energy, these can be magnified to an almost lethal level, if he uses the Golden Ankh Scepter to augment the energies of the beam (Both hands must be on the Scepter). They appear as intense yellow beams of energy. He can either use them as a beam in pillar shape or he can do a coned blast (though it is much weaker).

2- Produce all manner of light and absorb it.

3- Immense strength (50 ton range - which can be amplified by the Golden Ankh Scepter).

4- Golden Skin, giving him a minor amount of invulnerability or toughness.

The Golden Ankh Scepter grants him the following abilities. It is an unbreakable weapon. (All the below abilities requires that he have both hands on the Scepter - unless otherwise stated).

AS 1- Create a pyramid of hard light, similar to a force field. This can be small or large. Depending on his needs. But he has to hold the Scepter in both hands to maintain it and can do nothing else.

AS 2- Increase the heat levels in the environment around him.

AS 3- Manipulate and control Sand. Including causing sand storms.

AS 4- Fly at incredible speeds of upwards to Mach three (must at least have the Scepter in one hand)

AS 5- Manipulate air and wind velocities. Can create minor Tornados or pretty serious wind gusts.

AS 6- Sense the weight of one’s heart and see which in Egyptian terms is called the two Halls they stand in (detect good or evil). Hone in on the source of it as if drawn to a homing beacon. (Must be in both hands, must remain virtually motionless in the basin of power in the Golden Oasis of the Sun).
It is also harder to locate a person, over a place. Though it can be done.

AS 7- Understand and speak different languages (only one hand is required).

AS 8- (Unusable as the God Set decreed that for his defiance he could not use the animal powers) Summon Crocodiles, Snakes and Scorpions. He can create one of the three, once a day out of any element he taps the staff against. They will grow to larger than man-sized proportions.

In Egypt he has these extra following powers:

Headdress: This allows him to see vast distances and find the entrance to the Golden Oasis.

Golden Shaw: This will heal the wounds of anyone wrapped in it.

Golden sandals: These allow him to run across sand as if it is solid land

Golden Gauntlets: These allow him to punch with full force with no possibility of injuring himself (Even if he did a flying carrier attack at Mach Three).

Attributes:

Strength Level: 50

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 30

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2 (4 in the Sun)

Agility: 5X

Intelligence: Well Above Average. Particularly in areas involving Egypt, Their type of Magic. Not so great with technology.

Fighting Skill: Trained. He has been trained since almost birth to battle the evils and darkness that may plague Egypt. He is quite skilled in the Egyptian combat style of Tahtib (Which is the Ancient Egyptian art of stick fencing which is also a famous Egyptian folk dance that's considered an African martial art, it is the oldest and possibly the one of the last surviving form of Ancient Egyptian Martial Arts) He of course, uses his Golden Ankh Scepter for this. But he can fist fight as well.

Resources: Large (Particularly wealth and Historical knowledge from the long life of the Egyptian Culture - Plus if he can get the fickle gods to cooperate and share their knowledge).

Weaknesses: Being separated from his Golden Ankh Scepter takes away many powers including flight. Though he has no known weaknesses. Cold has worked the best on Golden Pharaohs of the past.

Supporting Characters: None. He was taught social skills by the Egyptian Monk-Priests. He is just not accustomed to speaking with strangers.

List a few reasons why you've created that character:
Primarily for my other Character Flamehawk.
But I also like him a lot as well. I think he comes from a cool place and has a fairly decent background.
I like his attachment to the (Underused) Egyptian Gods. Plus his Golden Oasis of the Sun is cool.
I think he is unique enough as a character in this world. Not too many Egyptian heroes around in any universe.

What can you bring to the RPG?: Answered this previously.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?: Yep.

Sample Post :

GOLDEN PHARAOH's Sample Post:

Golden Pharaoh lanced across the Gobi Desert towards Cairo, Egypt, his shadow, small on the glaring sun drenched sands far below him.
His gleaming gold armor, dual cape, and sheen of the same color that layered his skin making him looking like someone had catapulted an invaluable statue at an enormous velocity.
The Nile loomed to the northeast, looking like a silver shining needle in a sea of yellow sands.
Jabari Minkah, The Golden Pharaoh’s given birth name, Thought to himself. “There is danger in Cairo. Something seeks the possessor of Sacred Fire entrusted to the Preserver Priestess, Madarra.”
His brow furrelled. “If that sacred artifact falls into the wrong hands. The Forever Fire could be set free.” his eyes narrowed. “That cannot come to pass.”
Golden Pharaoh dipped down closer to the surface of the Nile. He was already past Herakleopolis far to the west and coming up on Cairo.
He could feel her pain as she did her utmost to defend the Staff of Sacred Fire.
His eyes focused ahead of himself. He could see the area, though buildings blocked his vision.
As he sped up his flight speed on the outskirts of Cairo, light objects took to the air in the wake of his speed. Blankets, sheets, clothing, papers and of course sand.
Jabari heard gunfire as he decreased his speed and dipped down.
Suddenly there was a…
FOOM!
As a large curl of flame laced skyward.
“NO!” Jabari said in a echoing voice

I was curious if there was some form of summery of events aside from the intro about the attack on Earth.
Who were they? See Rain's answer
Did they destroy portions of the world? Yes
If so which parts? Paris, Hong Kong, St. Louis were completely destroyed. Hawaii, and much of the West Coast were hit by a massive tsunami. Everything from Baja to Washington State saw severe destruction, but much of the West Coast is in recovery. Also, the moon was broken into several pieces, but there has been a large multinational effort to restore it, although that hasn't been touched on too much.
How was America affected? Alot of cities saw massive destruction, and some were wiped off the face of the earth.
What is the political climate after an event of this magnitude? That is in ongoing point of interest. For the most part the general populace sees them as a good thing, but there are forces at work attepmting to change that.
How was New York affected (Since that is likely where my character will hail from)? Like many other cities, it saw alot of destruction. However, NYC is largely a blank slate because there wasn't much if anything done with it during the arc.
What is the general regular human outlook on Super Beings? See above
What level of tech are we dealing with? For the most part normal tech. But there are some agencies that may or may not have integrated alien tech into their arsenal.

Not a lot of questions mind you. LOL

G7

Also. Am I suppose to write my first story as his origin one? Yes
This will be his first outing as a hero (after his origin in Egypt).
I assume I should take some consideration about the Invasion in there somewhere and at least make an honorable mention. Basically there has been some time since the invasion occured, and while much of the world was badly damaged, recovery has been taking place. Most of the action has taken place in Lost Haven, and aside from the cities listed above, most of the world is pretty much a clean slate. They were all affected by the invasion, and like I said above, recovery is under way. In places that have not figured heavily into the game up to this point, how much is really up to the player.
So can I just pick up where my origin in his profile left off? Yes. You can use the sample as your first IC post and continue from there

Thanks. Sorry... expect me to be just chucked full of questions.

G7

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): GP/Jabari is a straight to the point kind of person.

Sample Post : Do I have to do a sample post for this character as well? Showing I can do dialogue? Or is the above Flamehawk example enough?

Each app needs a sample post for that character. So far it's looking good, so once you get the sample up you can be approved.

Although, you know, if you're using a character who's going to be mainly a support character for Flamehawk, you don't have to apply for him, too.

Yes, that is very true. You can build your own supporting cast however you see fit.

If you wanted to make say, a character that was part of a team you could do that and play the teammates as NPCs, for example. Whatever you want to do is fine. We're pretty laid back in this game.

Except for that Nitemare guy...he's a real ass.

A real ballbuster, that guy.

Is that why my balls hurt all the time?

Backing away isn't all that safe a thing to do either.

I put the Sample post in the Original post of Golden Pharaoh.

NiteMare Shape:There was never any doubt in my mind that I could fit in after reading better than half the posts on this thread alone. *Grin*

Oh and let me say. You guys have done a FANTASTIC job in your own personal stories segments.
You each have a unique way of telling your stories and the dry moments have been few.
So Kudos!
Hope I can measure up! (Course I can always hide behind my art! LOL).

I'm sure you'll be fine, we're looking forward to seeing where you take your characters.

And with the sample post up in your second app, Golden Pharaoh is approved

I'm glad you included everybody rather than just single my rather brilliant performance out. I don't want to outshine everyone too much, otherwise the game wouldn't be fun for the other players. That's the reason I post so infrequently.

Yeees...that's the reason... :awesome:

and I thought it was because you're lazy....

er...I mean...busy with all the other games you've taken control of by ousting the GM.....

Like I told you before, I'm a manager. I do none of the work, and take all of the credit. And if things go to hell, I've got plenty of people to blame. :D

Very true...we did just have this conversation.

and speaking of being lazy...I'll try and get a post or 2 up this weekend...
