What will be the final RT score?

Of course it doesn't. No critic's opinion matters if it's for a movie you know you're going to see regardless.

No critics opinion should matter to you in regards to any film, every single person is different. They have different likes, dislikes, tastes & preferences, so unless you feel the critic mirrors you as a person, their opinion should be largely irrelevant to you.

That "expert" film critic who gave a film a scathing review & who's rating you're taking to the bank as gospel could be the complete opposite of you. That's pretty much my reasoning for why I put literally zero stock in RT, in fact I'd hold more stock in the user(s) ratings simply because there is simply so many of them you get a far broader scope of opinion.

I picked 80-90. This undertaking is so gargantuan, now, that at least 10-20% or critics will say it, "Doesn't live up to the hype" or it "is sad that this undertaking had to end with a whimper".

No, we'll all see it regardless, but it would be nice if, Lord of the Rings style, the final installment was given some momentous accolades for achieving something so special. Still, we will see, I guess. I'm more concerned about a) How it wraps up this part of the MCU, 2) how it sets up the next part of the MCU, and 3) how enjoyable the journey is. We get that, and I'm good.

I disagree that absolutely no critics matter. You said it near the end, but a critics opinion can matter to you if you know their tastes are similar to your own. So it's a shorthand to know if it's worth going to see a movie you're iffy on.

I have similar tastes & share a lot in common with my friends/family, yet we don't always share the same opinion in regards to what constitutes a good or worth seeing film.

This generation of movie goer seems to put a lot of stock into what others thought of something rather than trying to make up their own mind hence the rise of RT. I'm still old fashioned, I like to watch the film & decide if it's good or not as opposed to letting others tell me.

Considering how expensive movies are these days as well as the time commitment, not everyone wants to take that risk.

You make it sound like it's a chore or civic duty to go to the cinema, it's a pastime, if you see a trailer that catches your eye of a random film that looks like it's something you might like, then go see it if you've a couple of free hours.

I voted 80-90, but I see this getting better review than Infinity war did. Its the end of an era and will probably have better character work and story.

It can help me decide how much I am willing to pay for the first viewing. I can always go back and see it premium if I liked it in spite of the reviews.

Do you have kids? A full time job? Other commitments? A limited budget? All these things factor into people’s decisions of going to a movie which can be anywhere from a 2-3 hour experience depending on how long it takes to get to the theater, concessions, the runtime itself, etc. Factor in the chance you get stuck with a rude audience that can ruin the experience, I can understand why people rely on reviews to make an informed decision and not just take a chance.

This. There are reviews for everything for a reason. With the amount of blockbusters coming out the last few years it's ridiculous to imagine seeing all of them in the theater. I am a fan of rotten tomatoes only because if a movie has a score in the low 20s or high 80s I usually can tell if the movie is worth my time or not.

Anything in between is a crapshoot.

Another thing is, the reviews can give you enough information to figure out if a film is right for you...It's not the numbers, it's the details they give.

And a trip to the theater, non-matinee, for the fam? $80 minimum where I am. That adds up.

The statement still stands, it's a pastime, it's something you do when the stars align & you have a few hours to yourself & a few extra quid in your pocket to spare to go to the cinema. You make it sound like is something you are obliged to do & you must get the decision on what you go to see right.. which you cannot do because you can't make an informed decision based on the opinion of someone else.

Has there ever been a film you've maybe seen the trailer for, been really hyped to see it, then checked what it's RT or IMDb rating is, only to have them immediately kill the initial bit of excitement you perhaps had to see said film because it's got a low score? Perhaps even to the point that it's put you off seeing it completely.

Man if everyone was like you we'd get alot of hot garbage in the pipeline on a consistent basis. You're saying everyone should see a movie to make an informed decision for themselves. That means terrible movies would have amazing box office returns because everyone went to see it to see if it was good.... basically every movie would be Transformers 4.

Studios would love you.

Well said. The original debate was around that no one NEEDS to listen to critics but truth is, critics do help me make an informed decision.

Every movie that eventually evolves into a discussion on Rotten Tomatoes has someone that always says “critics don’t mean anything, you should check it out for yourself”. Which isn’t wrong, but again, if you do homework and see which critics align with your tastes, then generally you’ll probably be more satisfied with your movie choices.

Take a look at the last 20 years, there already is & has been a steady stream of garbage that has come through the pipeline & there will continue to be. I'm saying go see it if it interests you, that isn't every single film as not every trailer you see interests you enough to go see it at the cinema.

The box office completely & utterly irrelevant as it isn't now, nor will it ever be a reflection of how good or bad a film is.

75% I don’t see critics who gave last one a rotten will give this a pass. Then a discount to those who gave it fresh last time around.

I also don't care though I'm not even coming in here for this one. Until maybe after I've seen it.

Preach. If a critic say, HATED Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, I would not listen to that critics opinion. If a critic also LOVED all the Bay-formers movies or that last awful TMNT attempt, then I would bail. However, there is the occasional movie like Venom, where I stayed home, didn't watch it because of critics reviews, then bought the Blu-ray, and was immediately regretful that I didn't see it in theaters. Sometimes, I fin my taste in movies only really aligns with one person's tastes...mine.

I'm surprised RT hasn't announced a countdown to the RT score reveal.
