The CW's Nikita

Finally got around to watching the premiere. I thought it was pretty good. It sucks that the ratings are bad, and it could likely be the last season, but then again, who knows. This show has often been on the bubble. I'm surprised that it made it to season three.

I know I should have resisted but I didn't, it looks like another excellent ep, this show hopefully ends up being remembered as a gem that slipped under the radar.
Like too many of my favorites, sadly. But on a positive note, the ratings doubled from last week and matched Top Model, so that's good. And it was a also a darn good episode, so hopefully they will hold or even improve next week.

Glad to see Nikita's ratings improved as it got off to a bad start with low ratings in the first 2 episodes of the season. It was a good episode this past Friday.

That's great news, pretty unusual for a show to double numbers without some sort of event or big promotion. It was a good ep I agree, I really like what Maggie Q has done with Nikita, I think when the show the launched the selling point was Maggie as a sexy spy kicking ass, but she has made Nikki into much more than that, creating quite a complex character for a show in this genre.

Birkhoff is another who has also developed really well across the seasons and so has Alex and to a lesser degree Michael, so the four main characters have all been handled well IMO.

^ I agree. Nikita is one of the gems of the CW. If they make it through this season, they need to continue to take it to new levels.

Well, ask and ye shall receive...sort of.

Starting Nov. 30th, Nikita will move back to its old, earlier time slot and will then be followed by Arrow...re-runs. Which, let's face it, could still lead to better ratings than being paired with Top Model, lol.

But it is taking a break after this week's episode until then, which is kind of a bummer, but expected, November sweeps and all.

Agreed, the character work and continuity is this show's secret weapon. You go in expecting a mindless fun CW action show (like Arrow) and you get wonderful character nuances and shockingly well-thought-out plotting. And speaking of character development, I'm hoping we get more of Birkhoff's and Amanda's backstories this season. I'd really like to see where they came from.

I'm still waiting on peta Wilson to guest star. Come on show! Make it happen!

Another good episode this week, I wonder how long Owen will stick around, and it's great to have evil Amanda back with her new assassin, I'm guessing that is the female Roan they were casting for earlier.

The only thing I'm unsure about is the pill addiction angle they seem to be starting with Alex.

Next weeks ep looks Mission Impossible inspired.

The big news over the summer was that Devon Sawa was made a regular this season, so I think Owen's here to stay this time.

I actually don't mind the pill addiction thing because I think Alex actually dealing with that part of her past (as well as the sex slavery) was long overdue. It really bothered me how, back in S1, she jumped right into bed with Nathan without the show addressing how that kind of intimacy might be something of an issue for her, considering what she had been through. And likewise, her addiction issues have always been dealt with fairly swiftly with a couple days of detox and she's back to normal, so I like that they're gonna illustrate how it's not always that easy for an addict.

Anyhoo, I think this was easily the best ep of the season so far.

As for the next episode, I remember at Comic-Con Melinda Clarke was saying she wants them to go full-M:I and have the rubber masks, so I guess she got her wish (or already knew about this episode at the time).

Wow I missed that, it should create a lot of friction as Michael doesn't seem keen on him lol, with Mike, Owen, Ryan and Sean all now in the show I can't see all of them making it to the end of the season.

I can see your point I just hope it doesn't get repetitive like addiction stories can do if not tightly constructed, I don't want it to define Alex this season. The intimacy ship has sailed but I agree it should have been explored more given what happened to her.

One thing that shocked me in the ep was the shot where Anne blasted the guy through the head to blind Owen with his blood, I'm surprised that got past the censors.

Heh! I think it's a neat little homage and this show has earned the right to it.

I liked this weeks ep, the friction between Nikita and Ryan is great and a switcheroo within the White House? Gold. :D It looks like they may be pushing things towards an Alex/Owen pairing as Sean seems to have gone out of the show.

Mid-season finale next week http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4RP_hfTS1U

And the ratings were at a seasn high at 1.2 which is good.

Nikita will get a 4th season.

Look at this GG is done,90210 will like get a 10-12 ep send off,EO is dead,Beast is lower then TSC last year its likely dead,HoD could go either way, Carrie Diaries and Cult up in the air.

looking at this its pretty clear Nikita is going to be renewed and renew/cancel index on tvbythenumbers is right on the money here i think
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...al-season-or-will-it-be-canceled-poll/160004/

It would be insane of them to cancel a show so close to the golden goose of tv and kiss all those potential money they can get for Nikita in foreign and domestic syndications through the years with a 4th season to get to the magical 88 ep that is required for stripped syndication i even see a 5th season of 12 ep to get to 100 ep mark.

its so clear really

Ya I expect it to be picked up. I think they know that friday night is a death night which is why they keep it there so they can have a reason to keep renewing it. But all i want is 5 seasons and i will be a happy camper.

The webmasters at that site don't like Nikita.

Nikita going back to original timeslot on friday got ratings up and It Is on par
with last season.Nikita will get a full 4th season. It may end there but It will
go to 4 seasons.

90210 will join Gossip Girl out the door next fall.Hart of Dixie could go eather way renewal or being cancled. If the actors are still under contract Supernatural will get renewed.Beauty and the beast willlikely end In May Inless the CW wants to pair them with Nikita on fridays. The carrie diaries will most likely fail. With Hart of Dixie as lead In It doesn't look good for Cult.

I will be wondering who is Kristin Kreuk doing special fun time favors for. If Beauty & The Beast manages to get renewed

You have to wonder If she Is doing favors for someone at studio or CW now since It got full season.

I bet you the new guy is getting orders from Dawn. She stepped down to shut people up. But the new guy is getting fun loving from Dawn in return for Dawn to tell him what to do. That is the only possible explanation

hey, Ringer had a full first season and IT got cancelled...

I just don't see B 'n B surviving in the long run...

Good mid-season finale, it looks like Nikita may have made a new ally as well but boy was Sean a jerk to Alex.

It was definitely one of the best episodes of the season, but you can kinda tell it wasn't originally intended as a mid-season finale. This show usually does absolutely killer mid-season finales that feature some sort of game-changing development. That was simply a great regular episode, which is what it should have been, being only episode 6 of a 23-episode order.

And yep, Sean's back in his Disconnected Soldier Mode from the first half of S2. I'm more disappointed that Nikita didn't seem to pick up on Alex's decline, though. The Nikita/Alex relationship is the true heart of the show for me, and Nikita being a former addict herself (and knowing Alex better in general), I would have expected her to pick up on something being wrong much quicker than Michael, who has at least noticed.

Really enjoyed the Cyrus character. Hope to see him again sometime this season. And I really hope Sonya's not lying to Birkhoff. I like her, and she seemed pretty convincingly scared s***less to me, lol.

Yeah, that was a tense scene! I just love that actress.

I do hope we see more of Cyrus this season. Happy to see Isaiah Mustafa getting some regular TV work! I actually thought his Luke Cage short was pretty decent.

Sean needs to be careful as Owen might slip in and steal Alex away. I think the reason Nikita may have missed it is she is still internally conflicted about what she is doing back at Division and it's distracting her from other things.

I'm almost at the end of Season 2. I thought the first few episodes with a bit bleh, then it was good for a while. I'm at about episode 17 or so now but I've totally lost track of people's motivations (why and what are everyone trying to accomplish) making any sense at this point. Oh well, I'll just try consulting a FAQ when I finish the season.

S3E7: It's fun and games [blackout]until someone loses a hand. In S3E7, it's Michael.[/blackout]

This season so far is easier to follow than last season, but I really did enjoy last season after I finished it. The plot got a little too uh, over-the-top at the very end, but eh, I've moved on.
