The CW's Nikita

Wow. I love Owen. He is one of my favourite character, I'm glad he got the well deserved upgrade. Just a few months ago I was so sure Nikita would be cancelled.

Nikita @ Comic-Con: Season 3 Brings Familiar Foes, Fractured Family and… a Steamy Shower?!
by Vlada Gelman

Agents, get ready, because the Nikita Comic-Con panel was full of Season 3 scoop. With two new series regulars – Noah Bean’s Ryan and Devon Sawa’s Owen – the cast and executive producer Craig Silverstein had plenty of dish about the new dynamics and tensions in Nikita’s ragtag group. (And Mikita fans, they’ve heard your cries for a certain scene!) Read on for highlights from the discussion.

THE FAMILY THAT STAYS TOGETHER… | While last year was about finding a home, the theme of Season 3 is “family,” said Silverstein. “They’ve got this home now, a home [Nikita] didn’t expect to find. … It’s watching them come together and get fractured.”

FAMILIAR FOES | The villain in the first episode back – which includes a mission in Hong Kong – will be played by Jeffrey Pierce aka Alcatraz‘s memorable Jack Sylvane. The Baddie of the Week will be a theme for the beginning of the season, which will be more standalone. “They’re going after all these rogue agents from Division that Percy created,” previewed Silverstein. “Each one is a window into a different world. We’ve got some really great bad guys.”

WELCOME TO THE TEAM | Former Guardian Owen will make his return in the fourth episode with “a mystery [and] an agenda,” teased Silverstein. “We’re going to answer the question, Where the hell is Owen? Why didn’t he participate in the raid? Does he still think there are Guardians out there?” Meanwhile, Ryan’s top position at Division will cause tensions between him and Nikita, who “has a huge problem with authority,” described Maggie Q. “This is not sexual – She’s got to make Ryan happy.… He’s got a job to do and so does she. They’re two characters with strong convictions.” Added Shane West: “No one’s going to agree about anything.”

MIKITA HAPPILY AFTER | “We’re going to start off in a good place,” said Maggie Q of Nikita and Michael’s relationship in Season 3. “Hot and heavy,” chimed in West. Maybe even steamy? Yes, a shower scene is in the works for the couple. “We’re trying to figure it out,” assured Silverstein. “It’s really hard to produce a shower. You have to flood the set.” But all hot things have to cool off eventually, and the couple will hit some challenges. “Something’s going to happen…,” teased the EP. “But there’ll be happiness for a little while. I don’t think anyone’s going to see it coming.” Could it have to do with this cryptic tease from West?: “I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised and maybe shocked” by Michael’s storyline.

ALEX THE CELEBUTUANTE | “The season is going to start out very confusing for [Alex] because she doesn’t have anywhere to hide,” said Lyndsy Fonseca. “She’s such in the public eye.” Poor thing can’t even go undercover! At least she’s got Sean to comfort her – for now. “Finally, Alex has a little bit of a romance!” the actress enthused. “I think it’s going to be good for a bit, and then like all things, fall apart. But yes, Alex is happy with Sean.”

THE BADDEST BABE | Although Amanda won’t be back right away – “Her return is something we build up to,” said Silverstein – big things are on the way. Among the highlights: We’ll finally get her backstory, as well as a female version of Roan for the villianess. Her relationships with protegees Nikita and Alex will also be a big part of the new season. “She’s in same position Nikita was in the first season – she’s all alone” in exile, said Melinda Clarke. And much like Nikki, she has a “singular obsession” — to catch Nikita. Meanwhile, Amanda “starts to get to Alex in a stronger way,” hinted Fonseca.

GEEK LOVE | Is more romance on the way for Birkoff? With the techie and Sonya both offering similar skill sets at the new Division, “There might be a bit of new tension between [them] that wasn’t there before,” Aaron Stanford teased.

Nikita returns Friday, Oct. 19 on The CW.

Im really glad that Amanda seems to be season 3's big bad. I do like the whole sean/alex pairing going on. Also glad they're gonna do the villain of the week thing with an underlying plot.
I hope with the renewal of this show, it would also means season 4. I'm worried about ratings though, especially with Nikita pairing with top model. I have no idea why they're still keeping top model honestly.

Because its like the 2nd/3rd highest rated show on the network.

u kidding? Top model? it was pulling less than a mil viewers.
Yup. I checked. Ratings were lower than Gossip Girl.

Percy is gone and the show gets two new long-deserving regulars in Ryan and Owen. Amanda is where Nikita was at in Season 1 and I'm glad she's replacing Percy as the new villain. I've always felt she was the true threat than Percy. There are going to be clashes between Nikita, Michael, and Ryan concerning the direction of Division.

I thought the show got so much more interesting when it became a team show.
Nikita, Michael, Alex, Sean and Birkoff team was what I thought a great team up. It became so much more realistic than just 1 super spy assassin.
With the new shake up, I think its going to be really interesting how Nikita and Ryan runs division.

I agree and that relationship between Nikki and Ryan is going to be very tense I think. It's also going to be interesting to see what exactly Michael does to cause disharmony and who Amanda's female Roan is.

That was cool to see Maggie Q taking on the stuntmen at the Comic Con. I wonder if these stuntmen work on the show, Nikita.

Nikita Season 3 Promo #1

:wow: Looks like they are taking things up another notch!

Oh wow, CW usually doesnt do promos like that for its shows unless you are VD or brand new.

Just watching that promo made me realize that at some point over the hiatus, Nikita flew right by Supernatural as my favorite show on the network, because that promo actually got me pumped, while I still can't get excited about SPN anymore.

I think CW is getting a major overhaul this season. Under the great hands of Mark Pedowitz. I love all the new promo screen that they're doing. This season's promo screen had Nikita's face while supernatural's one was in a volcano-ish place. I thought it was rather interesting the amount of detail that they're putting in for all their existing show.

Love that last few seconds of the promo with nikita jumping down from some building.

Great premire,, love this show soooo much!

But ratings were horrible and a series low. hope that it can rebound next week like 90210 did. Most people probably didnt even know that it was back.

Nikita‘s engaging Season 3 premiere nonetheless drew low numbers for The CW this Friday night, delivering 952,000 total viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demo. Versus the spy drama’s previous opener, that’s down some 50 percent, and it’s even off 37 and 25 percent from the Season 2 finale. The fellas over at TVByTheNumbers also reckon it marks (at least matches) a series-low rating, which seems about right to me. For those who argued that Nikita‘s time slot change was in the name of giving CW affiliates’ 10 o’clock news a stronger lead-in (versus letting the series remain a self-starter at 8), compared to Supernatural‘s most recent premiere in the Fridays-at-9 slot, it’s down 52 and 60 percent. As for where SPN left things with its Friday finale, Nik is down 40 and 50 percent. Instead, The CW is now opening Friday with Top Model, which mustered 1.5 mil/0.6.

I didn't even know that the show was renewed, I kind of forgot about it and I'm a season behind. Got some catching up and marathoning to do. I was in no hurry because I thought it was cancelled until I started seeing recent articles about it popping up.

Interesting premiere with the tension between Nikita and Ryan, but Nikita needs to work in a team setting as Ryan is trying to get her to. With her battle with Percy over and Amanda being the main threat, it's going to be a team battle instead of just 1 person like Nikita. I think Amanda is going to be Alex's problem more so than Niikita's.

With one of the lowest ratings, I don't see the show being renewed for a fourth season. That's not a good start compared to Arrow.

Those ratings make me sad. The premiere was good! Though I have to say, this is the first time I've felt like Ryan was totally in the right and Nikita in the wrong. Even before his ominous phone call about how he's on the last thread before they wipe Division out completely, Nikita just immediately seemed out of line to me. Yeah, she's used to being rogue and doing things her way, but she knew what she signed up for this time around - a boss who actually answers to the government now.

With those ratings, I agree we probably won't be seeing a 4th season, but since Craig Silverstein has said he originally went into this with a 3-season plan in mind, I think we should be satisfied with the end, if that's what this season turns out to be.
