The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Is anyone else kinda blown away by the sheer volume of content over the last few weeks?

I'm a pretty one fandom girl, so I don't really know how it compares to other more recent films, but I wasn't expecting this much at all.
This is starting to remind me of how people described Batman 89's marketing back in the day.

How many clips have been released? 6? 8? There's been too much. Not gonna lie, but hype has drained down. Seen too much of the same stuff, but I've also avoided watching all the clips even though I know most of what happens in the clips. Of course I'm still going to see it.

I think for marketing, it's good to show unrelated content not in the film, like those Instagram videos, simultaneously, it just feels like they post too much.

That Superman and Lex scene got spoiled for me just by the first few seconds as I was swiping, but in another podcast video, someone carelessly spoiled that scene without warning. (Gd idiot) First he mentioned he wouldn't try spoiling, but then he thought, oh it's not a big deal.

These clips aren't targeted towards us who are online looking at this stuff all of the time. The clips are for larger audiences who may not have seen much from the movie. And how would you know the hype has died down, running any mass surveys?

the film already comes out next tuesday....seems like so quick now thats been forever

The hype has definitely not died...AEW doing the crossover was hyped to hell.

The clips haven't spoiled anything major so nothing to be upset there. Seems like a great setup to me.

One more gd week left. Have my pre-sale tickets yet, but official tickets haven't been sold online yet in Japan. Should be today or tomorrow though.

The Daily Beast negative review of the film leaked before it was taken down. I read the full review. Wasn't really positive about anything.

It's one review. Means nothing other than the fact this guy will lose all press early access screenings in the future for breaking the review embargo. Besides, based on what I've been seeing about this person, they tend to slant negative towards critically successful films.

But of course you have on obnoxious creeps like Jeff Sneider jumping online and highlighting this negative review. The bias against this movie could not be any more evident.

There is definitely a huge bias against this film. I can't help but feel like a lot of film bros are just pissed someone like Gareth Edwards or Denis Villeneuve didn't direct this lol, because, as you know, to them all that matters is cinematography. They don't think Gunn has it in him to make a sincere film.

I'm just over all of this discourse at this point. Every tiny aspect of this movie has been scrutinized. People are slowing down frames just to find something to complain about.

Maybe they should just have a Superman film where he's levitating with a CGI cape flapping in slow motion. That's clearly what all of these people want. Get Greg fraser as the cinematography and Snyder to direct the one scene that lasts two hours. Suddenly it'll be a masterpiece.

Gunn’s Superman is going to get some positive and negative reviews like all movies. The fact that someone would purposely jump the embargo will tell us all we need to know about the reviewer.

I will never understand the hate for Superman. People are literally watching and reporting ticket sales daily so when it has a slow minute they post something negative. Of course leaving out the positive stuff.

Enjoy the ride brothers and sisters we are almost there.

I think it's become quite evident the vast majority of the naysayers claiming this looks goofy just aren't familiar with Superman. What does it say when the only type of Superman film they accept is a deconstructionists take devoid of any life?

Exactly. It's such an odd dynamic.

I had a good laugh when Sneider, shocker, was claiming ticket presales are slowing down and now there's expectation the movie may open to $90-100M, only for Shawn Robbins to come out in the next few days to report tracking of $130-170M.

I'm just ready for this movie to come out to shut up certain discourse.

Global box office is in agreement with box office theory. I will just say this if it hits 20 million in early previews it will easily make $100 million over the weekend.

Jeff Snieder changes with the wind. He said the other day that box office is impossible to track and also said he heard Superman was good.

It's one review so it's not that big of a deal. The reality is, this movie needs to hit with the general audience in order to be successful. Critics aren't as important but I would say it probably needs a decent rotten tomatoes score.

This also may be the publications fault and not so much the reviewer. Either way, it's a shame that this happened and it's a negative review because all the websites pick up on this.

Looking forward to my trip to San Antonio for Superman and Six Flags next weekend! This movie is gonna be a ride.
Again, wait until WB makes movies based on rides based on other movies. :awesome:

Fun fact: Every solo Superman movie that uses the Williams theme has a composer named John. :o

The Daily Beast sucks at writing about politics...why would I care what their movie reviewer thinks

(I dont care what any reviewer thinks to be fair)

Some of them are probably Snyder fanboys.

I don't know if this has already been posted
