The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

I mean, they’re establishing a universe this Superman exists in where superheroes are already commonplace (like 93% of all DC stories). Hard to do that without showing a few of those other heroes. It’s not the same as what the last iteration did - it’s not advertisements for the next projects (we don’t even know where Metamorpho, Hawkgirl and Mr. Terrific would even appear next), it’s literally establishing a setting. This isn’t the Justice League we’re setting up here. It’s Clark’s other work colleagues he has to deal with on the regular, and that’s why they are there. They are a big part of his dual life. They’re here to serve this movie, as it has a very different type of setting than any world a previous Supes film has been set in, and it’s one that more closely represents the comics universe. Reducing them to fan-service cameos or just cheap Easter Eggs would be exactly the type of thing to avoid here, imo.

Speaking of which. Sklenar is annoying as f when he speaks about the role. Let's not get that guy, please.

If they mention Gotham...fine. If they hint at something going on in Gotham without name dropping Batman...ok. Anything beyond that is dumb and will be way too distracting. Remember how much people had to discuss the Wayne symbol on the satellite in MOS eve though at the time it meant literally nothing?

To be fair, that applies to the entire movie.

Yeah, I brought up Batman because this is an already established DCU... Plus Brandon Sklenar alluded to already talking to DC about Batman haha.

He basically said he assumes he's on DCs radar. Looks like more of his campaigning. He'd be an idiot to let it out the bag.

I get the gist of what they're trying to do given there's at least 4 other superheroes present within the film & from what I've read, minus spoilers, however I would have preferred none of them were present. Even in a shared universe with other superheroes existing within, it is possible to tell a story that doesn't involve them, we'll see how it plays out though.

I can't believe we're that guy now man lol. I was 18 when SR came out and met my soon to be wife only three months after that. Just turned 37 last week. I honestly have no clue how we got here in age. Time is not real:woozy: Yep, Lill is definitely a baby (I say that a lot to young co-workers as well).

Excuse me while I go fetch my cane lol. Lawd.
You a kid too my friend.
