Watch New Girl, dammit!

See I immediately thought Schmidt... but can I remember the actors name? No...I could point out Schmidt before Wes Bentley.![]()
For me it was just that guy from New Girl.See I immediately thought Schmidt... but can I remember the actors name? No...![]()

I think Bentley still looked too young for that back in '02. But Bomer is the greatest movie Superman that never was, short build and all. He would have rocked a mid-aughts origin story. In an alternate universe, there is a Batman Vs. Superman movie made in 2002 that starred both Matthew Bomer and Wes Bentley.
This guy would like to have a word with you.

In a different world, Tyler Hoechlin may have had a DiCaprio or Bale type of career where he rode a huge child acting role into adult stardom. But instead he chose high school and college baseball over Hollywood after he held his own against heavyweights like Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Daniel Craig, and Jude Law in Road to Perdition.
But the good news for us is that after his baseball career, he returned to acting and gave us the most earnest and fleshed out Superman maybe of all time and at least since Reeve.

We also accept the guy who got killed by a "drilldo" in AHS.

Yeah Branagh’s remains the definitive cinematic Hamlet for me.

Is this a reference to Superman and Lois?Haha. He had some potential.
Ultimately, objectively, he was let down my being on CW Soaps with iffy writing and low budgets.
David could easily outshine him. David has a lot of raw energy and exuberance that makes him a fun/engaging screen presence.
Lots of potential to be a 4-quadrant Superman if they play that up.
Hopefully they don't cave and edit the fun/humor out of this film, that's David's best strength IMO.
I'm sorry you don't like cinema. It’s damn near perfect until that ridiculous sword throw at the end. I still can’t believe he put that in the movie.![]()

I’m not sure I see what everyone else seems to see in Brandon Sklenar.
David had undeniable Superman energy, both in aura and in his look. Sklenar is just a strapping white guy.

Oh man I keep forgetting this. I only did a rewatch a few years ago as well and had the 'OMG that's Schmidt! I didn't remember that!' moment... and then I forget again...
DE LUCA: I love Superman. I think James Gunn has crushed it. It’s got tons of his trademark heart and humor and the action is jaw dropping. It’s the Superman I grew up with, so I get choked up when I watch it. I think it’s so epic and visually arresting and emotional. The performances are great. It is a five-star movie to me, and I can’t wait for the world to see it. Yeah, we’re really excited about Superman, James crushed it.
DEADLINE: A closer cousin to the Richard Donner-directed originals with Christopher Reeve?
DE LUCA: I would say in spirit, it is closer to that, but it’s also a big hunk of epic sci-fi. It has a little bit of what I loved about Guardians of the Galaxy, but it’s true-blue Superman. The conflict sources that he uses for inspiration, All-Star Superman and the like are in there, too. It is really a love letter to what has made Superman endure for almost a hundred years. He managed to get it all in there.
