The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

I’ve decided to love and defend the SW sequels simply as a middle finger to the toxicity.

Justice for Rose
Justice for Finn
Justice for Rey

There. I said it.

oh yea, for the sequel trilogy, i thought the new characters were fine. and the actors did a fine job portraying them.
i was initially interested in where the story would take them.
but by episode 8 and especially 9, the writing and the direction of the story failed them.
especially for Finn. they shortchanged whatever his character arc was going to be.
this is including Poe's and Rose's story as well.
Rey's story resolution was weak.

i'm still mad at jj abrams. but i can still forgive him later on. i just need time to process all this. lol. :unamused:

I use to love Tyrone's channel, but I checked out a few years back. Some of his takes got to be so bad. And hey, he's has a right to voice them... but he just got less entertaining to me personally as time has went on. I did click on his reaction to the sneak peak though... but it seemed like a forced crash out lol.

same. used to enjoy watching his reactions. he seemed like a cool regular dude at first.

then he started going down that "anti-woke" rabbit hole in the last few years.
he has a right to his opinion but i find the whole online right-wing grift insufferable.

so i don't even bother watching his videos anymore.

It’s really disgusting how so much of nerd fandom has been infested by the Rape-o-sphere. I generally like New Rockstars, Screencrush, Weekly Planet and BobaTalks. I avoid most of the others but occasionally YouTube still recommends various “anti-woke” turds who have an aneurysm every time a Black actor is cast in a movie.

I more or less just look on here for opinions. I'll sometimes scroll through Reddit a bit just to see what the general discourse around a movie is, but I don't seek out youtube channels or anything. Especially if I like what I'm seeing. Last thing I need is a bunch of rando's killin my vibe.

Saw this on the Krypton Report Podcast feed. Got kind of emotional since this hit home and is so true and pure. This is my version and re-edit :legacy:

2006 - Went 20 miles to the nearest cinema from my little hometown in a mate's mini, with two other friends in the back. My Clark whump loving ass was so elated, I felt like I was tripping on the way home 😅 I didn't love the movie overall, but it was a positive cinema experience.

2013 - Stayed with my dad in London and caught the tube to the first showing at the BFI Imax. Nearly met up with an old poster from here but chickened out. The cinema was full of Superman shirts. I sat down to watch and my heart was slowly crushed and then ripped out of its chest. I then started the four hour train journey home and cried all the way. I saw it another 4 times in theatres, to squeeze anything positive I could out of it.

2025 - I'll be seeing it at a local 'fancy' cinema with sofas an no kids allowed. My fiance and several of my friends will be seeing it with me... but not the first time. I know myself well enough now to know I must savour that first watch free from any concern of how messed up my face looks from tears of joy (I hope). I still plan to see it at least 5 times.

I actually was a Grace fan until the last year when she obviously started shilling for Disney and pissed on everything WB. Now all of a sudden she is trying to give Superman a chance because he fanbase turned on her.
Grace sucked long before that. When Snyder was her "WB Source" she was worse than she is now.

I love these types of stories. I hope this time it goes well for you, HD! You deserve the ugly cry (in a good way)! I'm rooting for you

2006- I was a senior in highschool and was hyped AF for SR. That's when MySpace was huge and they started running marketing for Superman Returns of "Give your best shirt rip and send it in"! type things. I remember running up to my Dad's closet, grabbed a white shirt and tie, and threw on a Superman shirt underneath. Had my brother take the pic in my parents hallway lol. I still have that somewhere. The day of the movie, I remember rushing through a workout to get to a 7:00pm showing. Was bored to absolute death and then 2/3rds through the film, I get this major spasmn in my neck and was just done with it lol. Euhh experience.

2013- My brother, girlfriend (now wife), and his wife at the time got the early Wal Mart showings of MoS. There was only like 25 people in the theater. I kind of regretted that because it was kind of dull without the big crowd. I left that first viewing kind of feeling so-so. The next night I went by myself in a packed theater and the vibes were rolling. It wasn't until that second viewing with MoS where it all clicked for me and saw it 6 times in theaters.

2025- Will definitely be seeing it multiple times for ABSOLUTE sure. Will be going with my wife and little girl (she will be 7 in a couple weeks) and we already got the logo shirts ready! Then will go with my brother and his wife and then maybe solo a few more times. Looking forward to add to the tradition and (hopefully) many more:legacy:

They totally jobbed Finn...and Poe sucked from the jump. (maybe my least favorite main character ever) Rey had a chance to be interesting but Rian ruined that the second he needed to "subvert expectations" and make her a nobody. He was just so clever...

I never liked Rose (not for the evil reasons fandom hated her) but yeah they might as well have "fridged" her.

I was a young father in 06. I took my then 10 year old daughter to see SR.

I also took her to see mos, Along with my then new wife.

My daughter will be soon taking her own daughters to see Superman. They are 8 and 9.

I remember during "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" they had a competition for who had the best sideburns. My brother took a photo in the forest with a long black trench coat... I thought for sure he would win... but some guy with completely fake side burns won haha.

Euuuhh, that's the worst lol. Getting more into cosplay (more causeplay for the kids) I started taking it serious and have rekindled with the weights and won't get in the suit to disrespect the S unless I'm in shape. No muscle suits. Sometimes, I see competitions with some people walking in with $2k muscle suits and I'm like "naw" lol. To each their own, of course!

I have a feeling that the opening scene is gonna be a huge save being performed by superman.
Perhaps it will be the train save we saw in the image awhile back. I don't know.
But it will definitely be something.

I think Gunn will want to set the tone right off the bat.
It could even start with us seeing Superman in the middle of a superfight with a familar villain.

Rumor has it the beginning opens with the Kaiju fight that we have seen in the footage so far. I think there a smart play. Start fast; end strong.

I'm still sticking with Jor-El based mini intro then Sneak Peek scene as the opening.

This has been bothering me for a few days, is the dog CGI for the majority of this?

It's not a big deal if he is, I just wondered because the shot were he's got the cuff of his suit looks a little weird & I thought there was a few moments the dog's hair looks like it's moving in slow motion in relation to the speed the dog is sort of shifting. I might be imagining that second bit but the cuff shot definitely looks a little odd, maybe the dog's really grabbing something, but not the actual cuff of his suit? Maybe like a green pillow or something that they've later doctored out.

Yeah, Krypto is CG and Gunn took his look/render from his own dog. From the principal photography photos, many assumed the Krypto scenes were CG based on the actors interacting with something that resembled dog-like movement during shooting.

Man, seeing that logo over the first one takes me back.

When I had my first laptop, a Dell computer back in 2006-2007 (it pretty much died about 10 years ago cause it ran out of memory storage), I had an official one and a few fanmade ones as my desktop backgrounds. I think they’re even still on there. I even got the Superman Returns OST by John Ottoman and listened to that as much as I could.

I’m pretty sure I saw that and Man of Steel by myself. Wish I was able to go for Superman this year, but, physical issues make it difficult to sit, stand in one place and stay up for too long before I have to lay down and rest, I basically use all energy just to stand and walk around.

My understanding is Krypto is CGI and pretty much a puppet for Gunn's actual dog whom he based his animation on.
