Sorry about possible mistakes.

"Rachel Brosnahan steals the scene as Lois Lane in the first Superman trailer. Beside the superhero and in the Daily Planet's office, her performance promises to redefine the character's classic dynamic. According to James Gunn, Lois already knows Clark Kent's secret, that will open the way to a more mature narrative without origins clichés, creating expectations on how this relation will be explored".

Can Warner's DC Studios Rise From the Ashes With 'Superman?' | Analysis

Supposed budget of $225m. Industry insiders confident - there is a 'groundswell' of interest in Superman :legacy:
Apparently before Gunn & Safran came onboard, De Luca & Pam Abdy tried to get a Cavill led MoS sequel off the ground with Michael Bay directing!

So the goal posts have been established. Anything less than $700 million and people will be screaming FLOP online. Let's hope it gets up there.

I think in and around what The Batman did box office wise is what they would be looking for in terms of box office and reception. I'm sure they will also be looking at it's week to week holds. That at least shows interest.

But optically if it does less than Man of Steel did 12 years ago, it's not a great result no matter how you slice it.

I still think that the past 2 reboots haven't given us the best depiction of the relationship between Lois and Clark which the TV shows seem to understand. If they can nail that, I think they can bring in a lot of the casual audience.

If Superman even hits the lowest projections I have seen it will make $700 million worldwide easily. I actually think it will make more money internationally than in the states. Even negative Grace thinks it hits $700 million.

You guys worry about box office way too much...

Its like you are looking for reasons to get anxious.

Just worry about whether you like the film and let the chips fall where they may.

Ideally yes, but for better or worse, Supes is holding the entire rebooted DC future on his back. Bad box office and them chips fall and bring down this new universe with it. Wont stop Supergirl and Lanterns of course, kinda how Flash and The Batman were already on the way by the time DCEU was crumbling down, but a bad Bo and Gunn gets a tighter leash and time for WB to go all in on Bats etc.

This won’t make more than MOS. Even the biggest cheerleaders know this. Tis impossible, too much baggage at this point. But all it needs is a good enough run, just enough, and insert that quote from Babe, that’ll do. Eh.

We dont know anything, and pretending we do is ridiculous. Man of Steels BO wasn't exactly stellar plenty of bad movies passed it and if Superman is good it can easily do it. Your bias is blinding you buddy.

We aren't WB we dont have to care about the universe, we just have to care whether we as fans enjoy it. This "it needs to make this much or its a disaster" nonsense is clickbait bs and it is ruining fandom.

More important:
According to one insider, if “Superman” grosses anything north of $500 million worldwide, the film will turn a profit at the box office (not inclusive of ancillary revenues). In the court of public opinion, however, it will need to gross closer to $700 million to be considered a hit.
F the Internet.

I hear you but when you hear about how good the Thunderbolts was from fans on the board and critics you have to worry about box office fatigue concerning Superheroes. I understand that Marvel has lost its trust after watching Quantumania and the Marvels, geesh those movies were bad. Superman is one of the top 3 known Superheroes along with Batman and Spider-Man so the expectation is for it to do well. Like it or not Superman might be the key to the future of all Comic book movies as a whole. I mean Universal and Marvel both sandwiched the movie because of what the general audience and studios thought of the DCEU. The marketing has been outstanding and Gunn is probably the best comic book movie director currently so I expect Superman to change the story concerning fatigue.

Side note supposedly F1 and Superman will have most of the premium screens for IMax and Jurassic Rebirth will get shafted during late June and most of July. This will have a big affect on the box office.

To be honest, Marvel still has the most goodwill with the general moviegoing audience, even though it’s shakier post Endgame. It’s still far more positive than DC or the Sony-verse right now. I wouldn’t go as far as to say Superman is the key to the future of all comic book movies. I do agree that its success would be great for the genre overall, but I wouldn’t consider it the linchpin for the future of comic book films.

Last year, Marvel only had Deadpool & Wolverine, and that still hit $1.3 billion. Even Lilo & Stitch, which is doing really well and is tracking to hit around $1.1 billion, might not catch Deadpool 3’s numbers.

Looking ahead, Marvel has Avengers Doomsday and Spider-Man Brand New Day next year, both guaranteed billion-dollar films. Financially, Marvel’s next few years are going to be very strong, no matter what happens with Superman.

Superman’s performance is more important for DC and the DCU’s future, not the comic book genre as a whole. (Though if it’s good, it will certainly help the genre overall.) But I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the key to the future of all comic book movies.

That said, all Superman really needs to do is be good and mostly liked, it doesn’t have to be universally loved or declared the greatest comic book movie since The Dark Knight. If it’s generally well received, and the majority of people who see it genuinely really enjoy it, that’s enough. Even if it’s only on the level of James Gunn’s so-called “weakest” film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (which was still a solid movie), it can definitely cross $700–800 million.

Man of Steel, was a very divisive and polarizing film that many (myself included) didn’t like, and yet it still crossed over $600 million. Gunn’s Superman will no doubt be a better, more replayable, fun, and accessible film, giving it a strong shot at reaching $800 million or more if it really connects and is overall enjoyable.

And if you look at Gunn’s track record with the quality of his comic book movies, he hasn’t missed yet. I fully expect Superman to continue that streak, but we’ll see come July 11th. All I know is, I’ll be there day one, regardless of the reviews.

And I honestly think a lot of people will feel the same way. Even if it somehow scores in the low 70s on Rotten Tomatoes, which I don’t believe for a second it will. People are still going to rush out in droves to see it, especially families with little kids. Who will definitely respond more to this Superman than Snyder’s version.

There is a big difference between Superman and Thunderbolts. Thunderbolts as a concept is a hard sell for a theater film (not talking quality donuts talking concept) for quite a few reasons. And who exactly is the biggest star? How many non Marvel diehards even know the characters in the film? That is the stuff affected by the so called fatigue. Thuderbolts, outside of coming out pre Endgame, was going to be an uphill battle...add in an economic downturn and people are going to only go to "safe" films.

If all you are worried about is the expectations on the film then you are likely going to be disappointed no matter who made the movie or how good it is. Fans and the clickbait community set unattainable expectations for varying reasons.

We can't control what happens...all we can do is support the film with our dollars and hope we love the film. If people like it it will do fine. The more you sit and stew on the "what ifs" and "oh it better do X or the trolls will have a field day" the more you are going to spiral about this stuff. that is what they want...to keep you anxious so you keep clicking their nonsense.

A billion dollars is not guaranteed for any movie anymore. There is a reason why Marvel pushed back Doomsday. Why would anyone rush to see Captain Sam, Thunderbolts, the old X-Men without Wolverine and F4 characters. You have lots of faith in Mr. Downey. Reynolds and Jackman had lots to do with Deadpool 3s popularity. Both were popular on their own without Disney Marvel. Spider-Man will be interesting but I don’t expect it to be anywhere close to the last one financially.

I expect Superman to make $800 million because I trust Gunn to make a good film and it appears to be a popcorn movie that appeals to children but like every movie there are questions. Nobody I know particularly enjoyed Minecraft or Lelo & Stitch but both appear to be billion dollar films. So I wouldn’t compare the GA to the cult. They are so small it’s really not any threat to anyone but YouTube feeds.
