The Dark Knight THE DARK KNIGHT crowd reports!

I got to the theater at about 10:30 Thursday night and the line was already wrapped around the building. I didn't get into the actual theater until around 11:30. There was also no seats left. I also have to say that the crowd was awesome.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post

No, you're not. NOT. YET.

Anyways, I had a funny experience with my theater on my second viewing last night. You could tell people loved Joker but they were also scared s*** less of him. There was a lot of nervous laughter during the scenes with Gambol, Rachel and the Douglas video. People weren't sure how to react to him. Great stuff.

I haven't seen the movie yet (yeah, I know, I know...going this weekend), but I walked past the AMC on 42nd Street in NYC on my way back from the Billy Joel concert at Shea Stadium at 1:30 this morning and there was a line for TDK wrapped around the block.

At 1:30am! Wow. I knew they were running it 24 hours and expected it to be crowded, but that was just wild to see.

Well when I went to see the movie for the first time last night at the 8:00pm showing it was crazy. The manger made an anouncement over the speakers saying the rest of the showings for the dark knight where sold out! So the 8:00pm people had to make a line to get into the theater. Once they finished cleaning the theater a bum rush of people ran in (literally) and started grabing and saving seats. Some people almost got trampled lol. Me and my friends grabs some great seats though. But after that the crowd as great the reacted at all the right places and clapped at the end. Amazing movie can't wait to see it again tonight! peace.

Tell us how packed your theater was! And odnt forget to get picks of the enormous crowds lining up down the block
I attended a 10.30pm showing, here at Buenos Aires; theater was packed, as it usually is at opening nights, when big tanks like TDK hits the screens (awfully written, I know--bear with me, english is not my native language:woot::whatever:)
Also worth of mention is the fact that I went to buy my ticket at noon, so I wouldn't have to stand in line long time before the movie.. and it was already full of people, buying tickets and attending early screenings (theater opens at 11am)

I live in a smaller community, and the theater I went to has 2 of its 10 or so screens showing TDK. I went to a 5:30 PM show (less crowded...sorta) and it was 4/5 of the way full by the time the movie started. The line for the 8:15 show as I left the theater was out the door.

Crowd reactions were great. Plenty of of laughter at The Joker's moments, accompanied by several "Oh ****!"s at some of the best parts (Bat-pod popping out of the Tumbler, Batman flipping the tractor-trailer). And there were rounds of applause when Gordon pulled The Joker off Batman, and when Batman shot his wrist-blade things into The Joker's face.

Great night!

The room was entirely packed!
And there was a huge line outside waiting for the next session when I left the room after the credits.
WB will be happy.

It took me THREE times to hear what Gordon said when he reappeared. Hahaha! People were SCREAMING their lungs off!

Just had a friend who said he seen a fight break out between a couple people at his IMAX showing last night. I'm also dissapointed more crazy fans didn't dress up at the premier. Star Wars is still fanboyish in that respect I guess.

There were alot of people dressed up in some form at the viewings I saw. There was anything from full scale costumes, to more subtle things like Batman shirts and green hair.

i was lucky enough to get a couple midnight IMAX tickets in NYC. we arrived at the theater at about 7:30 and there was already a line around the block. i got on the line only to find out that it was the non-IMAX, so i went inside and went up the many escalators, only to find that there was another longer line. after standing on line for several hours and watching group after group passing right by us to get to their friends at the front of the line. i wondered if we were gonna get even halfway decent seats, but they let us into the theater at around 10:30 and surprised to find some decent seats.

once in the theater, the crowd was in good spirits, cheering a few brave souls who came dressed as Batman, and some even tried to get a wave going, but with little avail. i met a guy sitting behind me that was even luckier - he got a ticket to the NYC premiere earlier that week (apparently, they had been giving some out to the crowd for free), got to attend the afterparty, and even met Chris Nolan! i was at the premiere too and wasn't even asked! the fun mood of the crowd began to sour as midnight neared, all the seats were occupied, either with bodies or the belongings of people whom went to get refreshments, grab a smoke outside, or go to the bathroom. the ushers started hassling the crowd, telling everyone to move to the center of the theater and fill up any empty seats that weren't being held, and that if people left their seat for more than ten minutes whether it's being held for them by friends or not, that the seats was going to be taken regardless. so the crowd was already getting annoyed by the pushy ushers when a handful of IMAX ticketholders arrived and had nowhere to sit. they stood on the side aisle, glaring at everyone in the theater, and all the ushers had to go up and down the rows, checking every single person's ticket stub. about half a dozen people in my row were forced to leave because they had non-IMAX tickets, illiciting a chorus of boos from the crowd aimed at the sneaks, the ushers, and the IMAX ticket holders who didn't show up earlier. when things were finally straightened out, roughly a quarter after midnight, the movie finally began. and no one left their seat once the movie started. i don't think anyone even took their eyes off the screen.

Whole theater was PACKED,everyone wanted to take pics with me because of my goon mask :funny:

Saw it 4 times (first time dressed as joker at midnight showing) and every time there are two parts where the audience goes nuts:
1. Joker Magic Trick
2. A certain someone saving batman

It took me THREE times to hear what Gordon said when he reappeared. Hahaha! People were SCREAMING their lungs off!

yeah for some reason people went APE**** over that. I dunno why maybe because Gordan is the average joe in the movie or maybe because Oldman just ****ing disappears into that role but when I saw it both times people just went crazy at that point

I have to say midnight showings in any big city really are so awesome. The atmosphere is really great, the closest thing is going to a college ballgame with everyone jazzed up and cheering for the team

I don't know why, but the scene where the Bat-pod pops out of the Tumbler...I will forever have the memory of some dude behind me going "Oh ****!" behind me. He summed up the whole crowd's reaction.

It was the best experience I ever had in a movie theater

If anyone has camera Phone pics from the premire of people dressed up, post them. I know I'm curious.

I saw the 10:30 show last night...the manager came in and announced that out of the 487 seats in the room...486 were sold!!!

My audience was very much into TDK. They cheered when the lights went down and the trailers started (FYI, Terminator Salvation got a very enthuiasic response, everyone was chatting when it finished...it was probably because of Bale.)

Biggest reactions:

-Joker's Magic Trick (alot of "OH S**T!!!)
-Fake Batman Slammed against window (screams)
-Lt. Gordon's saving Bats (applause, gasping, cheering)
-The Two-Face reveal (gasping, and more "oh S**T!)

The most consistent reactions however came whenever the Joker was on screen. My audience was just sucked into the film even more whenever he was present. They would laugh, gasp, yell and even have this nervous kind of 'oooh..." esp. whenever he told the stories about how he got his scars and/or talked about his father. There were even alot of shock gasps at how violent the Joker was and how he was actually able to hold his own against Batman in a few scenes.

This is definately up there as one of my more enjoyable movie experiences. A perfect experience for a perfect movie.

Oh and yes...there was a round of applause and cheering when TDK ended.

There was a huge line just for The Dark Knight, and the theater was freaking packed!! Then they had to open another theater to meet the demands. Whoo hoo. :brucebat:

Yesterday I went to the 600 N. Michigan theater in Downtown Chicago and it was all sold out; then I went to the River East one and thank God they weren't sold out.

The place was packed, and everyone cheered when Gordon caught Joker and laughed at the hospital explosion and when it was over everyone clapped and cheered.

That was the same situation when I saw it, though I got very good seats since my screening room wasn't filled when I got there. Why? It was basically SOLD OUT in 7 theaters. 7 theaters. So I got good seats in the one that didn't fill up fast

In NJ, was sold out. The thursday midnight shows were sold out, the line was way bigger than iron man or sex and the city (yes i got dragged to that one).
