The Dark Knight THE DARK KNIGHT crowd reports!

i also heard a girl go 'owww' when Joker said "We're destined to do this forever". No joke. fun crowd though.

i was at the midnight show in crestwood IL. problem there was they were running one film strip through 3 theaters. we had 13 people go together and the movie started on time. mid way through the first trailer the film strip screwed up. half hour later they fixed it. needless to say the crowd was not happy. about 2 min later u see the flimstrip actually melt on screen. so about 6 of my friends took off cuz some had to work the next morning. about 5 min after they left the movie started and worked fine. the movie didnt start till about 1:30 am. but it was worth the wait. though it was a pretty cheap and crappy way for the theater to rig up the movie.

Just got back from seeing it again. Terrible crowd this time. They were too quiet. When Gordon came back, someone tried to start a clap, but everyone else was just like, "No."

I saw it at the 7:00 IMAX showing at Palisades Mall yesterday. People laughed too much at the Joker, but we did cheer when Gordon came back.

Biggest reactions I've noticed all three times I've seen it.

-[blackout]Gordon's Return[/blackout]: Everyone cheered (still cannot understand what he said)
-[blackout]Two-Face revealed[/blackout]: Everyone literally gasps
-[blackout]Batman dropping Maroni[/blackout]: Everyone cringes like they felt it, haha, it's awesome!
-[blackout]Joker's Magic Trick[/blackout]: Everyone claps and cheers
-[blackout]The Semi Truck Flip[/blackout]: This happened in the trailer and everyone still cheers!
-[blackout]The Batpod flip thing against the wall[/blackout]: Totally awesome!
-[blackout]The Brian Douglass' body smashing against the window[/blackout]: Everyone literally jumps out of their seats

I hardly ever make noises at movies. But I found myself doing so here. I gave a "whoah!" when Batman drove the Bat pod bike up the wall before stopping. That was awesome.

My report from the first midnight showing.

We got to the theater at around 10:30, when we arrived at this time for Indiana Jones, the place was empty and we were second in line. As we walked around the building we saw a huge line-up that included four girls wearing homemade Joker masks, people dressed up as Joker, and plenty of Batman t-shirts. My immediate reaction was "Holy ****!" but then I thought, as usual, this line was probably a line-up for those buying tickets. We learned quickly that it was a line-up for those who had tickets and were waiting to get in. We took our place as the last ones in the building (it continued outside) and we saw the signs 'THE DARK KNIGHT MIDNIGHT SHOWING SOLD OUT'. At this point we believed there was one showing, we quickly learned there was two.

We spent what seemed like forever waiting, finally we got in at around 11:45. We were informed that it was indeed sold out and no seat could be spared. At this point, three Batman beach balls were thrown around the crowd, laughs were had when someone was smacked in the face. Finally, well after midnight, the lights went down and the audience applauded. Commercials. Unreal Watchmen trailer! Body of Lies. Terminator Salvation teaser (*fingers crossed*)!

The audience loved The Joker, laughing at almost every line. They applauded at the end of the street fight scene, it reminded me of Yoda lightsabing in Episode II (The reaction..not the movie). Apparently people were gasping and crying at one point in the other screening.

Saw it in Frisco, TX tonight and the crowd gasped SO loud when the certain someone saves Batman and people actually screamed when Two-Face was revealed.

Same reactions in the showing I attended. The word I'd use for the Batpod scene would be "awe"

I saw this at a midnighter in the ghetto...lets see, quite an obnoxious crowd.

-the pencil trick, literally half the theater screamed "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" or "oh **** you see dat!?"

-"you gonna love me" got a similar reaction

Entire theater was silent when Rachels
blown up

Very quiet packed crowd. Two people did laugh at the Joker when he was laughing cause they thought it was stupid.

Here in my town I went to see TDK twice. First the midnight showing and then a Saturday afternoon showing. And the theater was packed both times out.

The midnight showing was a spectacle with one guy dressing up as Batman and one as the Joker. They did a silly little fanboy mock fight for the crowd. It was geeky, yes, but it was also good fun. It helped the mood. But the crowd was mostly teenagers so there was a lot of noise from the crowd during the movie that didn't have anything to do with the movie. But they were all great fans of the Dark Knight and everyone clapped at the end, laughed when they should have and just about Gordon a standing ovation when he drug the Joker off the Batman.

Second showing was more subdued but the crowd was older and reacted in much the same places. Just a bit more mellow, thankfully. Although there was one fellow at that second showing dressed up as the Joker and he was basically a dead ringer for The Killing Joke's Joker.

um... I told this annoying dude to please **** around 15 minutes before the show started. Dude was trying to be a funny guy who's jokes got old real quick. Someody had to do it :)

My theater went completely silent when [BLACKOUT]Joker was in the bodybag.[/BLACKOUT]

Crowd reactions were relatively conservative in my theater. Most were at the right moments for the right scenes though. At the end it was pretty much dead silent. I think most viewers were worn out! I was!

My theatre, fully packed, was amazingly silent as the movie started. Literally 0 noise at all.

Saw it again last night. A few cheers in some spots, but a mostly quiet crowd this time around.

Every crowd I've seen the movie with loved Batman popping a wheelie with the Batpod and jumped when the body hit the Mayor's wall.

I went to an early showing yesterday (around 7pm) so it wasn't the usual live crowd I'm used to on opening nights. It was mostly older adults or parents taking their kids. There were reactions for the pencil trick as well as for the Bat-Pod flip, but for the most part it was no different than watching a regular ol' movie. I can sometimes be annoyed at loud crowds during big movies, but I kind of wish I were part of one last night. Ah well, maybe next weekend.

I saw again today, this time in IMAX! It was another sell out and the crowd pretty much had all the same reactions as before.

I've seen it twice. Midnight Thursday/Friday and then Saturday night. The midnight showing was amazing. They were showing it on 6 screens and all of them were filled to capacity. That time the crowd was pretty quiet during the whole movie. The pencil trick and bodybag scenes got pretty big responses from the crowd. The first time the big prisoner was shown somebody yelled "Deebo!" haha. The second time I saw it there were more kids and more talkers, which was annoying. The girl beind me called Rachel a **** at least two times during the movie. Both times I saw it, when the Joker tells Sen. Leahy he reminds him of his father, somebody said "oh no."

There were a couple "oh no's" in the screenings that I've seen. Whenever the Joker's theme hit, when he said "you remind me of my father," and when he asked "do you know how I got these scars?"

Great stuff! :funny:
