The Amazing Spider-Man The Dark Knight "Problem"

Gwen stacy's death is ironically more popular than the actual character. Nobody will be comparing Rachel's death to Gwen's Aaaaaaand that's even assuming these movies bother to kill her off in the first place. My instincts guarantee that Gwen at the vey least will NOT die in this first movie and secondly, I've said this God knows how many times, fanboys need to relax and stop trying to overthink on behalf of the GA because it's a waste of time and energy. Some fanboys just worry for the sake of worrying.

Why couldn't they kill her off in the second?

Because Emma is a strong female lead and as Dragon said, if they aren't introducing Mary Jane in this one, they aren't going to kill off their female lead and then bring in somebody totally new the same movie. If they kill off Gwen, it will be in the third movie but I really don't think they are going to kill off Emma.

Not to mention, they're not going to kill of both Captain Stacy and Gwen in the same movie.

Yeah, I don't see this being a problem unless it's like ridiculously similar. There had been deaths in Spider-man films before TDK happened, as well.

Her death? I doubt they even remember who she is.

The GA, most of them, watch a movie and then forget about it the next day. They don't analyze it like we do.

I agree. Fanboys need to get out of this," how will this compare to the Dark Knight " complex in general. When people go to see Spiderman , all they're gonna be thinking about is ...Spiderman. It'll be judged on its own merits and not a Nolan yard stick, and this is coming from a huge fan of the Nolan Batman films.

It isn't that her death is more popular than the character. It's that it's more well known. I can say comfortably that for 90% of the people who are currently comic book fans, that the first thing they knew about Gwen is that she died. Then they may have read the reprint of the story of her death. A small percentage went back and read the back issues featuring her, but always from the perspective that Peter would end up with MJ. Further, her character was never fully explored because supporting charact5ers didn't receive that type of treatment when she was around.

But as I'd stated before, i doubt that's the purpose for bringing her into this franchise is to kill her. She's simply an alternative to Mary Jane. Especially since Dunt's MJ left a bad taste in alot of folk's mouths.

The GA won't even remember Rachel Dawes' death.
That's what i'm thinking as well. I'm not saying Rachel was a terrible character, but we can't honestyly expect for people to care more about a chracter made up for a franchise over a character who's been in the comics.

That's not true at all. The movie made over 500 million dollars. That means the GA went to ee it multiple times. A movie that makes that big an impact is remembered. You think no one remembers that Leo died in "Titanic"? And they won't care for Gwen anymore than Rachel, initially at least. It doesn't matter if she came from the comics if they've never read the comics. The only importance is how the character plays on screen.

Lmao. Rachel wasn't nearly as important to the story as Leo was in titanic.

Did he really have to stay in the water? They couldn't take turns... stay up together and cuddle...? Leooooooo!!!! :waa:

Won't be a problem for this film since I'm sure Gwen will live. Look at this from a franchise standpoint. If anything, she should be killed by the Goblin in the second or third installment, and the best move would be to have the film end with Peter meeting MJ. The Goblin(s) already had a big on screen presence in the last series so this series should obviously start off with more fresh material.

A-lot of ground can be covered in a 2 hour movie. I think Gwen will be the love interest in this film and half of the second film. I believe her death will be in the middle of the 2nd film. The 2nd film could be a transition from Gwen to MJ. As Peter struggles emotionally over the death of Gwen. The third should have Peter finally in love with MJ. Makes the most sense to me anyway.
