This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]354771[/split]
I think that there is an acknowledgement that TDK is a hard act to follow, especially after Heath's performance as Batman's greatest foe. But I'm cautiously optimistic.Back to The Future trilogy. Original Star Wars trilogy.
Lord of the Rings, Toy Story, etc. are basically exceptions to the rule.
I'm not saying it's impossible for Batman to buck the trend, but the trend is there. Dark Knight was such a beloved film and not just that but a phenomenon I don't see any way the Dark Knight Rises can top it. I think fans that think this will be the biggest movie of all time are setting themselves up for disappointment.

No. In the eyes of fans Empire is the best and pinnacle of Star Wars. Jedi did well but it's not as popular and enduring and is considered silly because of the Ewoks and the phoned in performance by Harrison Ford. Are you Suggesting Jedi was better than Empire?
Threatened in what way by Avengers?I am as well, but once again Batman and DC fanboys are deep down aware of this and threatened by Avengers.

The point is, good first movie, awesome second movie, weak and disappointing third movie. A trend which trilogies like Star Wars follows. Back To The Future follows. X-Men trilogy. Rambo trilogy. The Blade trilogy and numerous others.
They can not tolerate the Avengers movie's existence.Threatened in what way by Avengers?
What's the deal with this Youtube page?
Oh you're saying these films follow the three film "curse" so to speak?
You think the Lord of the Rings and Toy Story follow that trend too?
That being said; I worry people will be overwhelmed by "ZOMG LOOK AT ALL THE SUPER HEROEZ!" with Avengers
Its undermines good film making with such a gimmick.
However, if it's good...it's good.
Really? I'd love a great Avengers movie and a fantastic end to Nolan's Bat-trilogy.They can not tolerate the Avengers movie's existence.
Bourne Identity>>>>>>Supremacy=UltimatumNo. As I said, things like Lord of The Rings, Toy Story, and even the Bourne trilogy are the exceptions to the rule. A rule which generally holds up time and time again with these big tentpole movies.
Explain, O wise one.I would personally sacrifice every Marvel hero at the altar of Batman- and 9/10 of their DC "inspirations".
I personally think everything rests on Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. She will represent the one totally new element and theme in the third part, and she more than anyone else has the potential to make it seem fresh and intriguing rather than a retread or an afterthought.
Good luck to you, gel.
Doesn't it wake you in the middle of the night, sheets soaked in sweat?Anyone who actually feels "threatened" by another film making more money then their most-anticipated one is a moron.
What a genuinely stupid thing to be upset by.

I agree, and yet the animosity still exists.TheVileOne, I honestly don't understand what you're getting at. We're threatened by the very existence of The Avengers? We can't tolerate the idea behind it?
Uh... what?
Anyone who actually feels "threatened" by another film potentially being more successful than their most-anticipated movie is a moron who doesn't deserve to go to the cinema in the first place. What a genuinely stupid thing to be upset by.
I probably can't. I think I am simply tribally loyal to what I grew up with, which was Batman, and a bit of Superman and Wonderwoman (I have sisters).Explain, O wise one.
