Sorry to rant to my fellow board members but I think you will be the only ones to truly understand how frustrating looking for action figures is.
After a couple weeks of hitting a couple different stores a day I'm calling off my search. So far my hours and gas have produced only a crushed box Gordon. I thought I hit the jackpot walking into K-Mart this morning, they had a ton of unopened Mattel boxes along with a brand new standee for TDKR much like the one seen in B&N. After a quick observation it looked like they just opened the stand as everything looked untouch and excitment was setting in. I walk to the other side of the display and a full display of Movie Masters. The first 2 were Batmans, look behind, a Batman and Bane, behind them another 2 Batmans, and finally another Batman and Bane. WTF? Then I walk to the aisle and another 3 Batmans and a Bane. I was in shock, which soon become anger. How did they not get at least one Alfred? The 3 Batmans and Bane in the aisle have sat untouched all week even with a 5 dollar price reduction last week.
A visit to Walmart and Target produced another 9 Batmans and 1 Bane. Seriously what the hell are they thinking. Why are they producing a tiny number of Alfreds and even Catwoman it seems yet we get an ungodly number of Batmans. Batman has to be the most overproduced figure in the history of toys. I remember buying the 200th edition Batman 12 years ago in form of the original Batman Beyond uniform. How many more Batmans have been produced in that time.
Sorry for the long rant but I guess I'm just sick of Mattel, they botched the Dark Knight line and I thought the only line they have done decent was Ghostbusters until I found out that 70 dollar 21 inch Stay Puft Marshmallow Man started turning yellow a couple months after they were sold. I find it Ironic that I thought the Arkham City toys would be hard to find so I ordered them on BBTS.com and of course they are overstocked at every FYE in the area.
Hopefully they will produce a reasonable amount of these figures to the point that I can order them on a site for a retail price because I'm done looking for them.
