The Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters: Official Discussion - Part 1

Sorry to rant to my fellow board members but I think you will be the only ones to truly understand how frustrating looking for action figures is.

After a couple weeks of hitting a couple different stores a day I'm calling off my search. So far my hours and gas have produced only a crushed box Gordon. I thought I hit the jackpot walking into K-Mart this morning, they had a ton of unopened Mattel boxes along with a brand new standee for TDKR much like the one seen in B&N. After a quick observation it looked like they just opened the stand as everything looked untouch and excitment was setting in. I walk to the other side of the display and a full display of Movie Masters. The first 2 were Batmans, look behind, a Batman and Bane, behind them another 2 Batmans, and finally another Batman and Bane. WTF? Then I walk to the aisle and another 3 Batmans and a Bane. I was in shock, which soon become anger. How did they not get at least one Alfred? The 3 Batmans and Bane in the aisle have sat untouched all week even with a 5 dollar price reduction last week.

A visit to Walmart and Target produced another 9 Batmans and 1 Bane. Seriously what the hell are they thinking. Why are they producing a tiny number of Alfreds and even Catwoman it seems yet we get an ungodly number of Batmans. Batman has to be the most overproduced figure in the history of toys. I remember buying the 200th edition Batman 12 years ago in form of the original Batman Beyond uniform. How many more Batmans have been produced in that time.

Sorry for the long rant but I guess I'm just sick of Mattel, they botched the Dark Knight line and I thought the only line they have done decent was Ghostbusters until I found out that 70 dollar 21 inch Stay Puft Marshmallow Man started turning yellow a couple months after they were sold. I find it Ironic that I thought the Arkham City toys would be hard to find so I ordered them on BBTS.com and of course they are overstocked at every FYE in the area.

Hopefully they will produce a reasonable amount of these figures to the point that I can order them on a site for a retail price because I'm done looking for them.

Some interesting info on Gordon and his stocking status:

As I mentioned before, my buddies back home lemme know when they get in toys at WM so I can get there/have somebody grab it. A few weeks ago, they let me know they got in two Gordon figures. I had them picked up for me.

This morning, my Mum was shopping there and stopped by to check for Ra's and Blake. She said they didn't have them, but they DID have two more Gordon figures.

So, the non-replenishing/only one shipment statement seems to be bogus as this store sold two, and then got in MORE Gordon figures. Dunno how this works/happened, but regardless, keep checking cos it looks like WM stores ARE getting in more Gordon figures!

got the two Gordons for those who pm me and I got some good boxes to ship em in I will pm those back with total including shipping.

Thanks to The Gigs a Gordon is now on the way and the girl picked up a goggles down Catwoman today at Framingham, MA Barnes & Noble for me. It was the only one they had. Not sure if I'll want goggles up or not, but I figured I'd get whichever one I came across first.

Anybody know any places that aren't pre-sale sold out of Ra's & Blake? Thinking I may do a pre order as Batman pegwarming may cause stores not to order the later wave.

MMJ- none come to mind. I slightly regret not pre-ordering it from BBTS or EE.

EE still has Blake for pre order though, but I'd rather get both from the same place to save on shipping. My money is definitely on Ra's being much, much harder to find as people have wanted one since DK MM's.

I'm not too worried; he'll be hard to find at first, but will become more plentiful in time.

I didn't know if this has been posted yet, but MM Jim Gordon is at Walmart.com at this time. There are less than 40 remaining. Here is the link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Batman-The-Dark-Knight-Rises-Movie-Masters-6-Gordon-Action-Figure/20967786

Thanks for posting this. While I didn't get Gordon since I bought the legacy edition a few months ago I was able to get Arkham City Nightwing and the legacy first appearance Batman! Score! The in-store pickup option is awesome.

Finally found a Gordon at the Walmart in Dallas, located on Retail Road. They had 3. I got myself the one that wasn't so beat up. The other 2 had the Ace Ventura dents in them. The one I got has a small dent but its near the bottom of the package and its hardly noticeable.

Now, why I was in Dallas, if I live in Fort Worth? Well, the Tumbler Tour of course!

And my video of course for anyone who is interested.

Here's my gallery of photos for anyone who is interested. I'm the one wearing the cap and the Dark Knight Rises shirt. The other dude is my cousin. http://imgur.com/a/IJMD4
i was there too! like right at 1:00 til about 1:30. they only had one gordon figure when i looked and it was beat up. i left it for someone else to get.

Was there a thread about TDK MM back in 08? I would to go back and read those posts.

Been looking cmdstore.com has both, but for $24.95 each before shipping.

Wow, both cheaper than Alfred!

I ordered my 2 from ToyWiz. Ra's was $33 but Blake was only $19. With shipping, still comes out to same.

Yeah. I've had good luck finding what I need, but MAY pre order. Still on the fence, but I can see some places like Target having too many Batmans to reorder the later waves. Then again, when the movie comes out maybe casual fans will buy those up.

Found a Jim Gordon at Walmart still factory sealed but it doesn't have Jim Gordon, it has Aquaman. Anyone else heard of a possible goof?

It's called someone took a hair dryer and an exacto blade, decided they didn't want Aquaman, so Gordon was technically free. Repackaging. LOTS of these scenarios on GI Joe boards. I'm surprised people can get that clean of an open to repack a different figure.

Wouldn't I be able to see even a little cut or something that would prove that that's what they did?

No. These people are good at it. I've only seen one or two repacks of Marvel Universe stuff at TRU. There's a way to do it. It's not something I'd do, so I don't know the process step by step. Just that a hair dryer or something is involved I think.

Well, just got back from Kmart and Wal Mart. No MM's at all.

I did buy a 12 pack of Dark Berry Mt Dew though so not a total loss. I still want/need a Catwoman though!

Interrogation Joker is ~$15 on Amazon and Night Vision Batman is ~$25... I also have an extra Interrogation Joker from TRU last week if you wanna go that route.

Thanks to you and Assassin for pointing me there. I've actually had many of these on my wish list for a while, but am finally getting around to buying them. I'll probably pick both of these up when I get my check this Friday.

And to evanmartins I found it on Amazon. Unfortunately I had to pay that $69.99, but the ones in stock were going pretty quick and I wanted to make sure I had one before they get any higher.

Man, I don't blame you. I think that might be my only option. $70 is worth it, that thing looks amazing
