The only recent threequeel on the same level as X-men: Apocalypse is it's own disappointing predecessor, TLS. Every other one (TDKR, IM3, CA:CW, even SM3) is comfortably better.

Totally agreed. I also think Apocalypse gets way too much flack. I enjoyed the hell out of it and it gave me things I had wanted in an X-Movie for a while. I also loved Apocalypse as a villain.

TDKR is also really under rated. It has another great and under rated villain with Bane, it's also damn ambitious but obviously not as good as its predecessor. However, it has a damn good ending which wraps up the trilogy brilliantly.

In terms of which is the better movie? Have to go with TDKR, but no shame losing to that movie in my eyes.

Easily TDKR. It isn't TDK, but it still near the top of all CBMs. I currently have it at #3.

I didn't think Apocalypse was horrible by any means, but it was merely average.

This thread is a kidding, right? I actually am in the minority of fans who enjoyed X-Men: Apocalypse, but it is very flawed. Meanwhile, The Dark Knight Rises is one of the finest superhero movies in the entire genre that is bizarrely disliked by comic book fans because of things like "My Batman would never retire" and "My Bane would never work for a woman or be killed by another woman."

As a film, Rises is marvelous. Apocalypse is at best okay with a few really good moments.

I do agree this thread is a little silly. TDKR beat Civil War in a vs thread on here, I like Apocalypse a lot but if CW can't beat it Apocalypse certainly won't.

Apoc vs X3, Spiderman 3 or even Iron Man 3 would be much closer.

1 Spider-Man 3 (Seriously, a mess, but at times a glorious one... other times not so much)

2. X-Men: Apocalypse (Doesn't have any awful dance scenes, but is pretty bland save for momentary flashes of quality)

3. Iron Man 3 (I know it would win a poll because it's MCU, but it is as bland as Apocalypse with a worse villain and ending)

4. X-Men: The Last Stand (Hate this movie, I'd put Batman Forever over it too!).

But yeah that should be a thread, now that I think about it. With Civil War and Rises not included since they are the obvious pinnacle of third movies in a series.

My rankings would be similar to yours except I would put Apoc slightly above Spidey 3. I feel both are under rated, but Apoc made better story choices for me. Agreed about X3 though, hate that movie.

You could even throw Transformers 3 and Blade 3 in there as well.
