The Flash The Eddie not Eobard Thawn Thread

Haven't read all the theories yet, but could Wells have brought a Flash-powered suit or some other way to generate it, from the future.
And recruited Thawne to wear it and at the same time infiltrating Central City PD.

Update - Reverse Flash has got glowing red Red Eyes!

Does this mean Wells also extracted Meta-DNA/Genetics from Rainbow Raider, like he did from Blackout in the previous episode? (and has likely been doing with all the Metas they've encountered(including Barry).
Who to put it in?
All he needs is someone with Motive to hate Flash.

As of last episode Edie Thawn

So Reverse Flash is a genetic-Meta-enhanced human created by Wells?

Probably in fact Eddie, who was secretly planted into Barry's life (police force-girl friend- father's partner), by Wells.

That's funny, because tonight's episode convinced me that he won't be "The Man in the Yellow Suit", and I'm actually quite glad to have been given that impression because it means that the writers are free to do stuff with his character that is far more interesting than just turning him into a bad guy.

I have to disagree because, if anything, the "Flash vs. Arrow" episode turned Eddie into the show's equivalent of J. Jonah Jameson. He starts off with the whole "I don't trust this guy because he's a vigilante taking the law into his own hands and he's just as dangerous as the criminals" routine. Then after getting attacked by the Flash and, of course, not understanding Flash has been altered by "Rainbow Raider," he's now drifted into the whole "This guy attacked me so now I know he's really a menace" routine.

And, based on how fast Eddie and Iris' relationship has been established, you know it's going to completely fall apart by the end of this season--especially if Eddie proposes to Iris in "The Man in the Yellow Suit" and, as their wedding day approaches, Iris starts getting colder feet because it would also mean losing Barry "as a friend. And once Barry starts dating Linda Park, you know Iris will start getting jealous, especially since Linda, being a TV news reporter, would be competition in Iris' eyes since she's trying to break into the news business with her blog. Not to mention that Eddie's growing obsession with wanting to stop the Flash will drive Iris and him further apart.

It has the ingredients of having Eddie, a genuinely nice, noble guy who becomes so convinced the Flash is a monster for purely personal reasons that he winds up becoming the very thing he accuses the Flash of being. If anything, I believe this episode has set the stage that The Reverse Flash is an older, future version of Eddie.

yep exactly and through the process of elmination. i dont really think the producers are going to introduce a totally unkown person to be rev flash. so that really leaves only a couple of people eddie , wells or through some oddball way the chief of detectives! and this being a CW show with hot people all around and looking at the pics of whoever is in that outfit and their build i deduce it to be Eddie/older Eddie
anything can happen but after getting yanked outta that car like a little snitch the way he did that dude has an axe to grind!

The fact that this thread was buried so deep in this forum just proves how forgettable the character of Eddie has been so far... :funny:

Anyway, can we finally change the name of this thread? It always bothered me this silly made-up quotation about him being Eobard, in the beginning I was wondering what I missed and where exactly did he say that...

I don't got why nobody is talking about those badass scenes from the trailers, where Eddie is shooting two cops all Terminator-style without batting an eye at it. This thread should be much more active.

That guy is totally going over the edge in the upcoming epidsodes and I am soo looking forward to it.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of his character and where they'll take him.

Does anyone think the reason why he was shooting at cops in the trailer was because he was being mind controlled by Grodd?

I thought of Mind control but didn't think Grodd. Good call.

Why would Grodd try to control him in the first place? From the trailer, you see Eddie smile when shooting the cops, not doing it robotically. So I don't think he is under mind crontrol, plus, it would be a cop out.

Maybe Rainbow Raider escapes and uses his power on Eddie.

Grodd controls people all the time to further his goals. Eddie would just be another pawn.

In some versions, people who are controlled by Grodd take his mannerisms, so Eddie smiling is just Grodd smiling.

Well, Thawne does rhyme with pawn...

I don't care what happens to Eddie at this point. He's bland, uninteresting and possibly the worst cop on a squad full of morons. Seriously, the cops on this show make the cops in the Burton and Schumacher Batman movies look good.

So can someone explain? He's a bad guy? And what does he have to do with Flash?

I wonder about Eddie now - I start to believe that he will die heroic death at the end of the season/show. I can imagine that the only way to win with RF is to wipe out him from the existence and Eddie will sacrifice himself...

What if Eddie has other brothers then what?

Then everybody will have the nasty surprise :-).

Cobalt Blue? Seen a theory online that suggests Eddie is him but with a different name to act as a red herring for the season. He also has aspects of Zoom whilst Wells has others. We've also seen him getting a bit jealous towards Barry and he looks a lot like Barry and his dad so they may go along the lost brother story, probably not twin though.

Also, Eddie wears a lot of Blue.

Actually, I figure Eddie may be Barry's half-brother via mom, and that he knows it. Barry established that his mom went on a trip to Europe when she was younger, and for some reason I just think they wanted to establish a time of her out of the country. So, Eddie is born, perhaps given to his father, doesn't contact his half-brother because mommy's dead and it looks like Mr. Allen did it, but when he gets the chance to be in the same police department as his little brother, he takes it. They've implied Eddie's not from Central City originally, and the Girder episode had that gym part where Eddie seemed to be looking to bond with Barry over boxing lessons.

I think if they do establish he's Barry's brother and had altruistic intentions at first, it might help the character a lot. We know he became Joe's partner while Barry was out, but he seems to have a strong relationship with Iris that might have begun before that. Like say, when he sees little brother Barry in a coma and sees Barry's adoptive sister needs help, so he becomes her friend, then boyfriend. Then when Barry Wales up, he realizes how creepy this all seems and keeps his mouth shut.

.
This is exactly what I've been thinking all along.

And if you go back to the early episodes of the series, you'll notice Eddie making various comments about Barry's blog, his social media, and his music taste. He did his homework on Barry before Barry woke up from his coma, at the latest.

I said it months ago: I believe Eddie is this show's Malcolm Thawne. Instead of being Barry's lost twin, he's his half brother. I agree; there had to be a reason they made a point of mentioning Nora's time in Europe.

You deserve credit for calling this. The only person with foresight lol.
Well done to you good person (",)

I am not on the writing team ;-) but I thought this to be a good end to Eddie (consistent with the way he was presented during the whole season) and interesting twist for the show. It also fits with Iris/Barry story - she will mourn a real hero who loved her and this plot can be run smoothly.

Wow, I never noticed the costume ring that appeared around Eddie's neck when he died. That's crazy and great future planning by the writers.

Holy crap you are right. I had to go back and check it out but yea its shown for like 2 seconds before he is sucked up. How the heck did it get on his neck? It clearly wasn't there when he died
