Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

From all of the new promos and the featurette that I’ve watched, and the set visit I’ve read, I’m getting more and more excited for this.

Hopefully, the doctor I’m seeing tomorrow or Friday is able to figure out what’s going on with my back, chest and lack of upper body movement and fix the problem enough for me to be able to go see it in theaters, because I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I’ve heard things about it. I guess I could have the friend I see it with pick me, because I can’t drive, so hopefully my issue doesn’t get even worse.

Good luck with the appointment!

Thanks. I’m sure they’ll have a much better diagnosis than “You need to take the right supplements in order to heal and make the problem go away” or “I’m communicating with and realigning your body to make the energy flow better” from the last few “doctors” I’ve seen.

I’ve been telling my mom several times over the past few years that something is wrong with me, and she kept on saying that all I need is going to the Chiropractor and other “specialists”. Now that that isn’t working anymore, she’s changed her tune to, “So, there is something wrong, but you just need to take the right supplements in order for it to go away”. :whatever:

I love my mom, and some of things she’s done for me in the past have worked, but she’s also very much against doctors and modern medicine because “it’s ruining people’s lives” and “they don’t know what they’re talking about” because of her past experiences with them. Also, went from “COVID-19 is just like the flu and isn’t killing that many people” to “COVID is worse than we thought, but it’s still not that big a deal and the numbers of deaths are being fudged by the liberal media”. :wall:

The thing is, I’m not like her, and I don’t have the same life experiences she’s had. At the very least, maybe my issues won’t turn out to be that bad but I still get a proper diagnosis in order to attack the problem.

Sorry, back to the topic. I do love how this film’s cinematography is capturing scale and realism. Kind of reminds me of what Gareth Edwards did for Rogue One.

Also, wonder what kind of score Ramjn Djawadi is doing for this? I hope he goes full Phillip Glass, with abstract synths, organs and full-on choir, or Clint Mansell with his strings and horns, to convey that mythical, biblical awe. I mean, this film literally deals with godly beings and the origins/creation of the MCU. :funny:

I was not expecting this. I was thinking along the lines of 75-90M.

EDIT: I think it will have pretty good legs. There isn't that big second week movie that knocks the wind out of its sails. I think Ghostbusters could also underperform.

This whole marketing campaing has done absolutely nothing for me. Looks "cool" in places, but they didn't give me enough reason to go see it besides having the "Marvel Studios" logo. I'm not saying is not good or anything but everything I saw so far feels like a generic Jupiter Ascending crap. I trust Marvel with all my heart but they failed to sell this one to me.

If it helps, it's a wonderfu filml, I mean really good, so get excited.

I just want to know about the action and if the trailers are holding back.

It's easily top 6 for me, as for the perfomances, excellent, but Oscar winner, I don't think so. If it manages to pull off that feat, amazing but it will be a hard sell.

Thank you so much for the insight. Can't wait!

You (lucky) bastard...

For obvious reasons I can't say, but for there is a lot of the movie that isn't covered in the trailers. There's also an interesting choice made in the third act which we can circle back to once people have seen it. Bottom line, this is an excellent movie. I'm big fan.

Just a few simple questions:

-Is the spectacle and scale as grand as the little bits that we’ve seen in the final full trailer? How much is there?

-Does this film balance all of the characters very well? Is there a focus on some more than others? (You don’t have to specify which ones if it will break your NDA.)

-Is the action in this serving and driven by the story, or is it just there to look cool?

-Is the third act a typical CGI, stopping the big bad fest, or does the film do something different and smart with it?

-Is Makkari’s speed as cool as in that one TV spot, and how much does she use it?

A lot more than the trailer shows.

Naturally a couple of characters will have slightly more screen, but I believe the balance is spot on. Beyond that I won't go into to much detail at this point.

Serves the story well with individual powers a good reflection characters.

A combination of both and I would day it's definitely different in terms of what MCU movies that have come before.

-Is Makkari’s speed as cool as in that one TV spot, and how much does she use it?

It's very cool and yes, she definitely uses a lot more of it, although I can't give you runtime of how much, but it's important to the story arc.
