Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

But we all know Marvel is not going to show the good stuff in spots and trailers anymore, they haven't since phase 2. The brand is big enough to just sell itself, they don't have to do that anymore honestly. You know it is not going to be some Jupiter Ascending because Marvel is not going to trust some bad movie as the 3rd to open phase 5.

I tend to agree. What's going to matter is how the movie is received. There are some who can't stand MCU movies and they aren't going to be swayed. That's not going to change. Three are some who do who are MCU fans who won't be impressed, but if the reviews and WoM/buzz is good, the movie will do just fine. Marvel isn't going to buck this up. If there was a problem, we'd know by now.

I saw a few Eternals promos during the various NFL games today.

I understand, sure. Like I said, I trust them. But I don't get any sense of what this movie is even about.

Think tickets will be coming out this week. The Regal site has the showing up for Thursday in my area.

I just realized that those Strange Supreme protection spells/armour from the season finale, the golden energy stuff Is actually similar to the Eternals power, like how they manifest the weapons…

so it's confirmed that Eternals are came from Olympia. but it's Planet n mcu.

ccording to Moore's estimates, 60% of the film is happening in the present-day of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and 40% of the film being set in various years of the past. This may also include a visit to the Eternals' homeworld of Olympia.

"In the past, we see the Eternals, who in our version of the mythology, are immortal aliens from a planet called Olympia," Moore explained. The group has been tasked by the Celestials to come to Earth and eliminate creatures known as Deviants. "The Deviants are these parasitic aliens who go from planet to planet, and as they kill the apex predators on a given planet, they sort of take the characteristics of those predators and wipe out intelligent life. Well, the Eternals are heroes, so they've come to earth to eradicate the Deviants and allow humanity to thrive."

I got my tickets for Friday night that weekend. Wish I could go Thursday, but won't work into wife's schedule. So Friday it is
I only have one day a week that I can go to the movies (Tuesday) because of family care issues, but, if I could, I would just go Thursday and again on Friday. The only question would be whether or not I had enough courage to tell my wife.

Another 10 heroes that are humans...Marvel is starting to have no original vision from out of the universe... i love when they came up with Groot and rakoon ...
Marvel please come with a good CGI heroes...we had enough of the same body type for everybody....its an Universe , not every being from the universe should look exactly like humans just with powers

I like the humanic based heroes. I roll my eyes a lot every time weird creatures in the Green Lantern comics. They could look silly very easy.

The Eternals look human in the comics, so I don't understand this point.

That to me is not my main issue in the MCU. As I have said before, my main issue is too many characters with the same powers and enhanced abilities (variants of the same character do not count). I am glad to see the Eternals because they don't have powers everyone else in the MCU has. It's one of the main issues I had with the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, too many characters who had the same enhanced abilities as Steve Rogers had. I was fine with Bucky due to his bionic arm, which makes him different than Steve Rogers and Isaiah Bradley is old, so he's okay. But the Flag Smashers and John Walker? No. They should have made the Flag Smashers different. If one of them had been a disgruntled War veteran and had a prosthetic leg, I would have been fine with that. Instead they all had Steve Rogers same enhanced abilities and all had their extremities in tact.

With the Eternals, Ikarus has energy beams coming out of his eyes, which makes him different. If he had energy beams coming out of his hands, he would have been like I don't know.......every other character in the MCU who has energy beams coming out of their hands, which would make me less excited for the Eternals. I know that based on the last trailer, Kingo has energy blasts coming out of his hands, but he uses the blasts like a finger gun, instead of his whole hand. Makkari is a super speedster, something we haven't seen in the MCU since the asinine decision to kill Quicksilver. Sersi is a telepath and a telekinetic apparently, which we haven't seen in the MCU. Phastos is apparently a technopath.

It's also why I have reservations about She Hulk.

It might be because most of the heroes are from earth. A lot of the villains aren't particularly human looking. GotG is a group of people from the Galaxy, so that explains that. The bottom line is most heroes are going to be at least human looking because that's how they are in the comic books. It makes them more relatable I suppose. The thing is, no matter what Marvel does, there are always going to be some who have a complaint. No getting around that.

Unless you want them to be Skrull shape shifters, it wouldn't make sense. They were sent to Earth to blend in with humanity.

I love how there's 5 thinkers and the other 5 are the more skilled as physical fighters.

eXciting stuff.

That would be awesome!

From all of the new promos and the featurette that I’ve watched, and the set visit I’ve read, I’m getting more and more excited for this.

Hopefully, the doctor I’m seeing tomorrow or Friday is able to figure out what’s going on with my back, chest and lack of upper body movement and fix the problem enough for me to be able to go see it in theaters, because I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I’ve heard things about it. I guess I could have the friend I see it with pick me, because I can’t drive, so hopefully my issue doesn’t get even worse.
