The Expendables 4

I think it's fair to say the last movie bombed because they went away from what had made the previous ones successful, everyone questioned the PG-13 rating when the previous ones had been R.

Go back to what the previous 2 movies did and this could be a success.

Also introducing a young ragtag team of nobodies kind of defeats the entire purpose of seeing old recognizable action stars working together.

Yeah, Banderas & Grammer were basically the only marginally-fun peeps in 3 other than Crazypants Mel. Even Snipes was pretty bland, had nothing to do.

I never saw Expendables 3 but did Jet Li and Terry Crews' characters die in it? I noticed they're not on the poster.

They didn't die but I'm pretty sure Jet Li retired from action movies. Idk if I'm making that up but I feel like a remember reading that due to injuries he retired from action movies.
Terry Crews probably is too busy or too expensive. They replaced him with 50 Cent (who was actually supposed to get the role after Snipes couldn't do it and before Crews was hired). Don't think they're playing to same character but 50 took the place of big black guy from Crews.

Has any hero actually died in these movies other than Liam Hemsworth? I don't think tsome

Apparently Stallone’s role isn’t very large in this, hence the “and Sylvester Stallone” on the poster. I assume he’s going to die.

And correct me if I’m wrong, that would be Stallone’s first on screen death if it happens?

I'll believe Stallone dying when I see it.

I buy that he won't be in the movie much but I'll be very surprised if he dies. If he didn't kill off Rambo or Rocky when it made all the story sense in the world to, I can't see him dying on screen for anything

Levy Tran was alright on MacGyver. She's heavily tatted, so she'll stand out.

Having never seen Bad Boys for Life, I don't know if Jacob Scipio is any good.

*Jim Harpert-style look into the camera*

Holy crap this has Iko Uwais AND Tony Jaa. They BETTER not waste these two, we better get some absolute kick ass martial arts fight sequences.

I hope so too, but seeing how the first and third movies turned out and looking at the director (same guy who did Act of Valor and the Need for Speed movie) I'm not getting my hopes up. I was kinda into the idea of this one but seeing the director has me not excited

I'd wish they'd get Gareth Evans, David Leitch, Chad Stahelski (although it'd be hard to pull him away from the John Wick series), Sam Hargrave (director of Extraction), F Gary Gray who had some really good fight scenes in F8te of the Furious. Actual good action directions instead of directors passed their prime or mediocre directors. But that'd probably cost too much.

EDIT: Or a Justin Lin

And get Michael Jai White in one of these. Weird he hasn't been any of these when he's arguably the biggest black action star other than Snipes (not counting SH actors)

I'm not expecting this to be good at all, but I did like this director's previous movies. They could have gotten a much better director though but considering how Expendables 3 turned out it doesn't surprise me.

Lionsgate is hanging by a thread as it is since they don't have many successful films outside of the John Wick franchise and I'm sure they are just praying this makes them a profit at least from the International BO.

As bad as it did domestically and as lackluster/disappointing of a sequel it was I'm still shocked to this day that Expendables 3 almost made $200M OS alone.

They also have Saw, which still makes decent money and is low-budget enough to recoop.

Trailer tomorrow
