They will do it anyway, and they can do as they want with the art, I think. Throwing a little money at Fox for that it's not as big as getting or losing licenses. Or they could avoid the set until a trilogy is complete, and then make a new trilogy set, and a new complete SW set in 6 years.

I've never minded it either -- in theory. It tightens the screenplay. I do think it's probably a mistake to have Doom get powers from the accident though. And I do acknowledge that there are downsides to it.

Between that and a load of other stuff that's been harped on, this really does look like the "adults just don't get it" movie. It's like the movie you'd expect from a 13 year old with behaviour issues.
I like the sorcery angle because it's tied to his mother, who was a huge influence on him, and whose imprisonment by Mephisto was a motivator for him. I think Doom is a character with a lot of complex pieces -- any of which you try and excise and he falls apart like a house of cards.
(Not that this wouldn't be a challenge for MS as well, and unfortunately Marvel would probably remove his Roma heritage like Wanda and Pietro).
It is shameful that such a cast was wasted.
