But would they put The Force Awakens in a Box Set next year ? If that meant giving Fox some money off of the new movie ? Stuff like that would make Disney avoid Box Sets
They will do it anyway, and they can do as they want with the art, I think. Throwing a little money at Fox for that it's not as big as getting or losing licenses. Or they could avoid the set until a trilogy is complete, and then make a new trilogy set, and a new complete SW set in 6 years.

I do need a 6th version of the OT.

New rotten review. RT (not yet updated) score is 18% now.

I feel like a kid rushing down the stairs to the christmas tree to open his presents when I hear there's a new negative review out.

LOL, I said earlier today that this was like early X-Mas.

I just saw a 10 second clip from a movie I know is complete and utter trash and now I'm interested!

Doom kills people with his "mind powers"---oh yeah!!!!!

How freakin' desperate are we for some Doom villainy that him killing some random people with idiotic powers gets us all ***?

I really have a hard time comprehending how people actually considered this trash-heap Doom more compelling than the comic book counterpart - even on an aesthetic level alone.

But the proof is right there in that hilariously awful photo.

"Oh yeah. This is so much better."

:funny:

Doom (DINO?) looks like a dark C-3PO

Am I the only one who doesn't mind Doom being on the mission with the Four?

*ducks and covers*

And no Im not defending this I just mean in theory I don't have a problem with it.

"This is a film that's been shredded to near-incoherence in the editing room, with a finale that's over before it's barely begun."

Ooh yeah!

It's not a deal breaker for me, but he shouldn't get powers if he does go. That's the important part.

And having him go and Sue not is beyond dumb.

I've never minded it either -- in theory. It tightens the screenplay. I do think it's probably a mistake to have Doom get powers from the accident though. And I do acknowledge that there are downsides to it.

Agreed.

Also: having them go because they are drunk and feeling ~rebellious~ ... there are no words.

I guess im in the minority. I wouldn't mind if he gets his power from the trip, as long as his powers resemble his 616 ones, but he can still going to the monks and mastering his powers better than the others or something.

Idk maybe because Im not that attached to the 616 origins of the characters, more their personalities and story arcs.

Im not that that well versed in Fantastic Four so maybe im not that attached to the sorcery angle

EDIT: and of course having him go and not Sue is just...beyond stupid.

Between that and a load of other stuff that's been harped on, this really does look like the "adults just don't get it" movie. It's like the movie you'd expect from a 13 year old with behaviour issues. :funny:

Doom looks like something you'd see out of the Mugatu 'Derelicte' fashion show in Zoolander

Based on Trank's gynecomastia story and the child abuse story that's now been a focus of both of his films, that's probably not far off...

I like the sorcery angle because it's tied to his mother, who was a huge influence on him, and whose imprisonment by Mephisto was a motivator for him. I think Doom is a character with a lot of complex pieces -- any of which you try and excise and he falls apart like a house of cards. :cwink: (Not that this wouldn't be a challenge for MS as well, and unfortunately Marvel would probably remove his Roma heritage like Wanda and Pietro).

The biggest victims of this mess is the wonderful cast that Fox managed to assemble. Miles Teller is on track to become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
Michael B Jordan is a fantastic actor (watch Fruitvale Station) who is starting to make a name for himself (Creed!).
Kate Mara was exceptional on House of Cards, and Jaime Bell is a BAFTA winning actor.

Thats some cast you've got there. Much better than the first time around. With a wonderful script, a skilful producer (FEIGE) and strong direction, they could have been great.

Sadly it is not to be.

It is shameful that such a cast was wasted.

The thing is I feel Doom's origin is so in depth that it can be a movie in and of itself.
You have demons, being on the run, sorcery, monks, exploring, science, technology...

I just feel like it would be better to streamline certain things. Like the whole demon/Mephisto thing with his mother, while cool and interesting I'd might take that out if I was in charge.

Of course the other production did try and streamline Doom and got s***. There is a good way to streamline Doom it just seems like they aren't being competent

What's the final word about the China release? One tweet said it has one
