The FFINO ZONE - Part 1

Maybe it's just Trank's concept - Chronicle was pretty short for a movie with 84 minutes and it was good. It was found footage type though, but it surely tells us something about it.

No, we know that Trank wanted he movie to be at 130 minutes after principal photography, and then there were months of extensive reshoots after that. This means that the majority of what they shot was unusable resulting in a short film even though it had basically double the shooting time it was first allotted.

Man, I really hope the 130 minute version comes out one day. I would actually consider buying this film on blu-ray if they included it, just out of curiosity.

Oh my Christ. I know I'm late to a lot of the new developments - frankly, I forgot this move was even coming out until I read about the review embargo - but I just saw a TV spot that finally had Thing talking and just had to say something about it. So it's just going to be Bell's voice, with no other modulation or changes due to him becoming a giant rock monster? Is that really how it's going to sound?

Jesus H. ****, people are going to actually laugh in the the theater at this movie.

This is one thing I have to believe they'll change because it will be completely ridiculous if they don't.

Apparently the cast hadn't seen the film before the Atlanta screening yesterday.

MBJ called it dark, grounded and gritty again.:csad:

First guy was a bit of the tool.

haha the second question though "I've seen the first two, so why did they do this film? Is it a reboot? Were the first ones not right" it's funny how they can't just say 'So Fox can keep the rights'

Damn! I didn't know that... :csad: How could it happen?! I weren't so involved in the whole thing so - why the reshoots?

The Denny's ads, and really any type of tie-in advertising that's not for movies explicitly for kids, are cringe worthy as hell too.

It's not even about it being explicitly for kids. Miles Teller flat out said this movie isn't for kids.

A superhero movie starring the Fantastic Four isn't for kids.

All their advertising has been on kid's channels, and I frankly can't imagine any adults being interested. What have we seen in any of the clips that would interest an adult?

The whole theme of the film seems to be: "Grown ups are icky gross and they just always want to push us around, man."

Here is the original report:

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/01...vie-mess-goes-reshoot-louisiana-sets-rebuilt/

Simon Kinberg quickly denied this report and said they were just doing a few days of reshoots, but in the months following, reports from actors and extras made it clear that they spent as much or more time on reshoots as they did on principle photography.

A few notes...

Don't compare IMDB prior to release to the BBFC.

99 minutes is not even CLOSE to two hours in movie terms.

The FIRST thing I wantto know from the first review is...
did they change Bens voice last minute? If not it's them just giving up!

I wonder how Fox could have made the "mistake" of printing 107 minutes on the tickets for the preview?
Is this like the Patriots ball guy taking it upon himself to do a favor for the team with no orders from the top? Don't think so.

Interesting bit of trivia. Based on Krystal's list of shortest superhero films:

Elektra------------96 minutes
FF: RotSS--------91 min
Jonah Hex--------81 min
Catwoman-------104 min
Daredevil---------103 min--------theatrical
X-Men: LS--------104 min
Spirit--------------103 min
Ghost Rider 2-----95 min
X-Men-------------104 min
Punisher 2--------103 min

The highest RT score for a superhero film with a running time under 100 minutes is 37% (ROTSS). Second highest is 17% for Ghost Rider 2.

Can FF beat that mark?:thf:

That's a pretty high hurdle for FFINO.

If Ben has been castrated, that could explain why he has a higher voice.

On one hand, I can't imagine them leaving Ben's voice sounding so silly.

On the other hand, Kinberg and Trank really seem to think the long string of bad ideas they've had along the way are good ideas, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have some half- assed 'reason' for leaving it that way and it will stay.

I'm sure it is Trank trying to teach us something. That is his purpose in life right now.:whatever:

I still have a sick feeling that a lot of critics will give it a good rating based on the fact that diehard CBM fans DON'T like this version of the FF. That they will praise it for being different--not for actually being good. Brrrr, it's gives me chills

If critics were spiteful teenagers, maybe.

I honestly think the critics will have a field day with this. This film will give them the opportunity to use the kind of snarl they love. "More enjoyable than root canal ... but only slightly."

There doesn't seem to be any drama or depth of emotion. The characters appear one dimensional. The scenarios are familiar and cliché. It just looks like a film aimed at kids with no depth.

Well, plenty of fans (rightly) hated Catwoman and that didn't get the critics to sway in any way positive...:cwink:

Seriously though, I think the critics will be honest enough one way or another. It being different (apparently) from the usual CBM fare might get some to view it more favourably, but if it sucks I think most would say so.

Not to say that some critics don't have their own agenda, but I would hope they would review it based on whether or not it's actually a good movie.

I'm sure they couldn't care less about all the stuff us nerds agonize over. A lot of times they aren't even familiar with the source material so how will they know if something is out of character or is a poor adaptation? They will (hopefully) review it on its own merits.

In the past I've stated that I felt this could potentially be a good movie just a not a good Fantastic Four movie but I redact that now. Based on what I've seen from the trailers, I don't believe it will be a good movie at all. It really looks terrible. The reviews embargo and all the other nonsense surrounding this film has only added fuel to the fire. But we shall find out soon enough.

I think the best part of the film will be the opening 5-10 minutes with young Reed amazing everyone. But then when he becomes 30ish Miles Teller playing a high-school kid, it's going to lose its charm and be difficult to watch from there on.

If the movie is dreadful, I agree they are not going to give it a pass and they will enjoy lambasting it as they are known to do. But, if it is simply mediocre--I can see where they might give it a boost for being different from what Marvel does. We all know Marvel would make it huge and epic and maybe a general movie critic might be getting tired of epic.
Dam old farts.

Great company to be in huh?
