The FFINO ZONE - Part 1

So i was pretty annoyed with Access Hollywood last night... Billy Bush did a segment on this movie.. and said "it's summer, you know what that means, another Marvel Movie!" and kept bringing up marvel (not fox at all)...

FOX is totally banking on a MCU confusion.. I just litterally corrected someone on facebook this morning who was asking a comic book page if this film was tied into the MCU at all.

I've informed all my friends about this piece of crap. How it has nothing to do with the MCU and how they will incur my wrath if they go see it this weekend :D.

The problem with the timetravel from the 60s idea is how to incorporate Doom into the story, if he didn't travel with them then he is now 50 years older than them and has apparently spent that time doing nothing. If he couldn't get anything done in all that time when they weren't even there to stop him can we really take him as a real threat now they are back?

Ah that's the beauty of it. Doom has a completely separate origin from the Fantastic Four (like it should have been all along). Take a whole film to tell his story in which his villainy does not come to fruition until modern times. Meanwhile when the FF do return from their space journey they are truly celebrities - modern day Neil Armstrongs who have pushed the boundaries of mankind's achievements beyond their wildest imaginations and with personalities like Johnny the public quickly latches onto them. Reed is hailed as the genius he is for his accomplishments and Victor watches from afar and his seething hate for Richards is born. You don't get the shared college story/origin of course but hey you have to work with what you got and like Hank Pym, Richards has been kept out of the MCU for way too long so you have to get creative to bring him back.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago my cousin asked me on Facebook if this was in the MCU and would they be in 'Infinity War' etc....Had to delete my initial reaction before submitting the reply... :cmad:

This. All of this. :hmr:

Another way to go is to introduce them into the 60's era. Have them disappear on a space journey and not return until the future ala Interstellar, relativity, etc.

In my opinion, the only way an FF movie will ever work to everyone's satisfaction is to start them out in the era in which they were created. The period setting definitely augmented the appeal of the first Captain America film. (And it's the only way the origin works, period.)

It's not a problem at all. Doom's time platform and his occassional monkeying around with time travel is already part of the FF mythos. So they go after Doom and all of them end up in the present.
I just want one full movie set in "their" era. There are so many wonderful possibilities there.

I like the Moonscope cartoon theme song. It has a twilight zone-ish feel to it which I thought fit the F4 perfectly.

Good job!

I'm sure that is what Fox is banking on. They seem to want people to think it's a Marvel movie and is tied to the MCU. What I don't get is why don't they just work with Marvel so that it actually could be a part of the same universe and they could all make money. And you never know, Marvel may actually allow some merchandising or tie ins. Fox is shooting themselves in the foot because this movie can't break even, it actually has to make a profit to justify making movies.

I wonder this all the time. At least Sony finally gets it.

Im just waiting for the initial spin

First: "Screw the critics what do they know!"
Which then in time becomes: "Audience reviews is what matters"
And then: "Who cares that this didn't make money?! A sequel is coming"
Then finally: "Whatever I liked it! That's all that matters!"

Or, this is still better than AOU and Ant-Man.

You talking about that Digital Spy review? I haven't read it yet, the only one I've read is the Hollywood Reporter review.

Don't forget: "It doesn't matter the box office! Transformers out grossed Batman Begins!"

This bit:

All of this takes at least an hour, and it's build-up to …nothing at all. A sense of heaviness, gloom and complete disappointment settles in during the second half, as the mundane setup pays no dramatic or sensory dividends whatsoever. Even if lip-service is paid to some great threat to life on Earth as we know it, the filmmakers bring nothing new to the formula, resulting in a film that's all wind-up and no delivery. The fact that the writers couldn't think of anything interesting to do with these characters in this first series reboot does not bode well for any potential excitement in a sequel.

Sounds like a wonderful exciting way to spend 106 minutes of my life.:o
