Yep, it all fell apart after that. He could've been a really formidable and charismatic foe who could scare the crap out of Tony Stark, but they turned him into a joke.

I feel like they turned that entire movie into a joke, tbh, but I realize I'm a minority on that one.

Honestly, as bad as this all was, it is nice that they at least made that tiny little gesture of changing him to Von Doom.

Of course it's the absolute epitome of 'too little, too late', but there's a small satisfaction in seeing they're not completely ignoring us.

If Doom isn't Domashev anymore because Kinberg removed all of that, then that is disappointing. I was actually looking forward to him being a blogger with the online handle of D00M that he uses in chat rooms. They should've left this movie to be so bad it's not really very good.

One case where I have seen fan backlash affect the movie to a point is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, where they changed the Shredder to Japanese last minute and did reshoots, causing a somewhat awkward story arc. Honestly IMO, having a Shredder who was Caucasian wasn't that bad of an idea compared to having the turtles as aliens. And with William Fitchner, who's a good actor, it would have been interesting and maybe an OK portrayal (Not great - considering the director and the writers). I must say I was kinda disappointed with that change.

But for changing Domashev to Doom, that's cool. We should be grateful they didn't give him goat legs....
