The FFINO ZONE - Part 1

I also feel bad for those who were genuinely looking forward to this. Not so much for the contrarians, who were simply rooting for the film to get at the "racist", which I feel is a large bunch of people.

Fox and Trank got this movie wrong from the start with the tone; the Fantastic Four don't fit the dark, gritty genre like Batman/Suicide Squad.

The reason Marvel (Feige) does well is because they know the source material inside out. They adapt characters the way they are written in the comic books. There are doses of darkness, but a lot of humour as well. They strike the perfect balance and are very effective in exploring different genres within the comic book movie realm. I really want them to get their hands back on the F4 and its accompanying characters (Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer)

@val_zod.

To be fair, the warning signs were there for all to see so i'm struggling to see why I shoud feel sorry for anyone who basically ignored those signs and buried their heads in the sand yet somehow still had an expectation that the movie would be good.

Personally, im sorry for ALL of us as, at the end of the day, we ALL want a good FF movie and we're still found wanting.

For me this quote says a lot about what went wrong

I find Fantastic Four a hard book to adapt. I think the tone is very tricky it. It’s deceptively simple. Figuring out the comedy and the drama and the powers themselves are hard to fit into a tone that is as grounded as we wanted to make it.

Its a square peg in a round hole situation, rather than using a tone that fit the franchise them tried to force the franchise to fit the tone they wanted.

You won't find them in this thread because they're not allowed to post in here. But Psylockolossus posted a review thread and said he has already seen in twice and loved it and thought it was the best Fantastic Four movie ever.

Yeah I saw it. Can't believe he liked it. :o

Surprised his scores weren't higher actually.

Movie date with my son. ❤️
#FantasticFour

This, er, must be one of those movies for families with... special... relationships. Maybe I don't want to continue looking into the Twitter reactions...

Who was the poster on here that voted in the poll that this was the best comicbook movie reboot, even though they hadn't seen it yet?

Some of the quotes attributed to Trank and the cast read/sound like those made by directors/actors making this type of genre movie 20 years ago, in that they have a mindset that it is all very silly and NEEDS to be changed to be legit, but we've moved on since then.

It strikes me that this movie has been made by those who are almost ashamed of the source material, whereas Marvel Studios have shown you can achieve something great if you unashamedly EMBRACE the source material and run with it.

The totally unbiased psylockolossus.

The same person who has just posted a positive, glowing review. Hmm, what a shocker. Wondering if the majority of the review wasn't already written before seeing the movie, much like the vote on that poll. :woot:

He said He was already sure it would be better than the other FF movies,so...

Given that the other two were awful, it's not exactly a bold prediction. Anyways, its like saying that having diarrhea is better than vomiting.

not a snowballs chance in hell that he wouldnt like it.

At the same time the same thing thing could be said of people on the other side

Well, if it looks like dog $*** and smells like dog $***, I'm not going to go out of my way to deliberately step in it. I'm going to avoid it, much like I'm going to avoid paying money to see this movie, for all the reasons already well documented.

I give chances to Every CBM but from the beginning it was clear this was gonna be bad.

Well plenty of posters did vote the movie with one star before seeing it, so they should equally ridiculed.

That RT score should rise some, there are only 7 counted reviews. Then again Pixels has 18% score, and over 120 reviews counted. No matter how bad the movie is, it cant possibly be worse than Pixels lol.

I'd like to see what Mr. Beaks and Peter Travers have to say about FFINO.

Nah I thought this was going to be bad very early on.

However, I dont see him voting it as the best reboot ever without seeing it any more ridiculous than members voting it a "1" in a poll without seeing it or them comparing the Fantastic Four property to 12 Years a Slave even as a joke.

Agree. Anyone who voted on that poll without seeing the movie, irrespective of what they voted, was a doink.

God this is getting pummelled everywhere.

A few of months ago, I thought this would be the best comic book film of the year, and actually laughed at the very notion of Ant-man being a success. Now my views have changed. I enjoyed Ant-man and wouldn’t object to seeing it again, yet cannot honestly say I feel the same way about the Fantastic Four. In fact, I’d probably rather watch the 2005 version because for all of its flaws, it did at least have a couple of laughs and perhaps more importantly, tried to show me why I should care about the Fantastic Four.
