The Gifted The Gifted General Discussion

You can't have Polaris without Havok. I'm thinking Pulse will probably take his place, who knows on this. Havok should be on the show, they barely use him in the movies.

Would be very nice if we do get him at some stage.

Ive known Sage, Polaris, Thunderbird and Blink for years. And ideally, for a X-Men show the lead characters should be the X-Men from the comics, not characters that didn't even exist in the comics.

But they're not real people.
I understand you, e.g. my only complaint with Ragnarok is I would have liked an accurate Skurge.
There's always the possibility in the future you'll get something more to your liking, what with the possible Fox purchase and/or Fox lackadaisical attitude to continuity.

the gifted will likely end if disney buys fox films and tv so then haters wouldn't have to deal with the gifted.

Just because there's a possibility of Disney getting the X-Men in the future doesn't make the shortcomings of this show any better or excusable.

And what are you're trying to say they are not people? Thats a dumb excuse. X-Men aren't real people and most of us have been discussing about them for more than a decade now.

Please do ignore me if this annoys you, I do not wish to harrass you.
What I meant is that I find excessive to feel insulted on their behalf, no reason to let you get even slightly hurt by a tv series, make of this what you will.

Well its an insult to the characters as well , in my opinion. Years of comics exposure only for the lead roles to be given to someone that didn't come from the comics.

Well it's not like they named it The X-Men and the Gifted. :( Gives them more leeway I guess.

But they keep selling this is a X-Men show, the blatant use of the X in the marketing, the emphasis of the letter X in episode titles, then you go watch the show - Marcos Diaz, the Struckers, the government aren't even X-Men characters.

what would u preffer? more Striker? :funny:

There are hundreds of characters that they could use here. Chimera, Spiral, Maggott, Changeling, Garokk, Zaladane, Bastion, Leper Queen...

I miss Maggott, but the worms would have to be CGI and that would cost money.

Could be a great show, but it hangs arounds above average to good.

Polaris and Thunderbird are dope. This seems like the perfect show to utilize Gambit and the red headed chick should be Racheal Summers...or Hope .
I love the human struggle of the stories as that ehy Ive always been into them, but they are supposed to get busy too.Low budget action for an x-men show, Doesnt work.

I dont mind the kids if they were new recruits..but the parents really irritate me.

I also dont feel the "threat" is great enough ..as of now. Unless they havr some actual Sentinels lurking.

Blink, Thunderbird, Polaris, Pulse, Shatter, Sage, Ahab, Trader and Beautiful Dreamer, just as a well known as any you name-dropped.

I was clearly pointing out that they could have used other comic book characters instead of creating new ones like the Strucker family, Turner and Eclipse who are the 5/8 of the main cast

I'd prefer they use existing minor characters as much as possible. But with what they have they need to make all the characters compelling regardless of background. And in future maybe the comics will establish these characters too if good enough.

Your snobbish devotion to devalue anyone who isn't a comics writer and write them off as less then equall needs to stop as all creators comics or not are equal, due to the fact that any creative: comic, tv, or movie when using a character or character elements they didn't think up is adapting said character/elements. So when a someone like Nix comes along and decides to take some characters and villains to craft an original plot then he is no different than any other creator doing the same thing (a thing done all the time in comics) and deserves no more flack than them for doing so; which includes making original characters and using them in the story as central characters (another thing comic book creators do plenty).

Eh. So you'd be fine with a X-Men movie with "made up for Films characters" as the lead protagonists and antagonist? Good thing, Fox hasn't made that move in any of the films yet so as DC/Marvel with most of their own shows. And this show seems to took it to the eXtreme by relying much on made up for TV characters. This is not even a Harley Quinn, X-23 and Spyke scenario and I doubt the Struckers, Turner, Wes, Carmen and Marcos Diaz so as the Legixn characters would show up in the comics after this.

And there is a difference between the comics and the adaptations. Comics are the source material. TV and films aren't. If Fox wants to create new characters, then do that for another show and not in a X-MEN TV show. Anyway, I think for Fox, they see this show as a second citizen, its just an extra profit for them and they are saving the bigger names in the films and don't care if the shows use made up for characters and it's not a failure of this would cost them big time, it won't. But IMO, they could have used this platform to bring spotlight to the hundreds of c to d listers that wouldn't show up in the films.

I think Fox is slowly killing The Gifted in my country. They keep doing false advertising and it almost seems like they are trolling. People are getting a tad annoyed. They cut an interview from Emma Dumont to pieces to make it seem like Wolverine would be in The Gifted, as well as messages like: "Would the X-Men finally come along to save The Gifted?"

They keep selling this as a X-Men show but they have zero plan to showcase a single original quadrilogy character! And you get Turner, Marcos Diaz, Wes, Carmen, Andy, Caitlin, Reed and Lauren Strucker!

The fact that they are selling it as such is a problem. The characters themselves are not.

Yea I agree. I think the time has come for them to at least introduce C list and unused characters. Wildchild, Morph, the original Gen X line up (Husk, Chamber, Skin, M, Penace, Synch etc).

They could act as a rival underground group with legit ties to the X-men. If they make it to a 2nd season they should move in that direction.

I would like to see some of those as well. And Dust, could we get Dust? :woot:

I'm finally caught up and I'm so happy to see that this show is really good. It doesn't use a lot of X-men characters, but the show really gets the themes, atmosphere, and political context/allegories that make the X-men comics great.

However, I still hate the Strucker family. I'm done with Reed's paternalistic self-sacrificial burden bs. And I cringed watching the daughter give a moral lecture to a teenage mutant who broke the law while living on the street. If they're not frustrating, they're annoying.

The real core of the show, for me, is Blink, Thunderbird, Eclipse, and (especially) Polaris. The Underground acts like Xavier's school, just with a more intense political climate. The show is the strongest when it plays with themes like when and how to train teenagers for war, questioning what counts as terrorism, and the personal drama of people pressed to the brink.

I'm overall pretty impressed. I echo other fans who want them to bring C-listers into the show. The New X-men would be perfect, characters like Elixir, Mercury, Wither, Dust, Surge, Hellion, etc.

Yeah that sounds good to me.

Elixir, Mercury, Surge, Rockslide, Hellion, Wallflower, Tag, Prodigy, Dust, Icarus, Wind Dancer, Wither, Anole, Pixie, Wolf Cub, Ink, Gentle, Loa, Trance, Squid Boy, Bling, Onyx, Changeling, Neal Shaara, Maggott, Slipstream, Lifeguard, Omega Sentinel, Stacy X and Trinary to name a few... They could use any of them.and I don't mind if they don't feature them in the films.

Though Generation X like M, Husk, Chamber and the rest should be saved in a film.

I feel like for season 2, they need to move from the Strucker Family, Diaz and Turner. Then have Sage, Thunderbird, Polaris and Blink cross path withanother mutant group.
