The Gifted The Gifted General Discussion

How long will those baby Sentinels appear again? For a company with the name Sentinel Services, I would expect to see the actual Sentinels more often, not those ordinary men with their guns.

How many episodes are planned altogether for season 1?

Maybe they are too expensive. They did lose a bunch when the Strucker kids got free, lol.

I find budget restrictions on TV really painful lol.

Yeah, there were some pretty obvious ways to bypass budgetary issues of powers in this episode. Still good though.

Which is a problem when it comes to Marvel TV shows. That's why IMO, Disney/Fox should just stick to film when it comes to their Marvel adaptations and abandon TV. Though the businessmen behind these productions, I am sure they would want to strike the Marvel iron while its still hot and don't mind the limitations of a TV show as long as they could squeeze enough $ from these shows.

It's always going to be difficult with a team of mutants unless you choose the ones with the blandest powers. Do these kinds of TV shows (at the viewing levels this is getting) make much money usually?

You can pull off alot on a tv show budget, its just a case of being aware that a tv show isn't here to be this big epic blockbuster but more a episodic story.

I admit I hardly recall the Struckers in the comics. As villains they didn't make much of an impact on me. :(

Andrea indeed!

Some interesting speculation that Jace Turner could become X-Cutioner down the line.

EDIT: Also, Esme?? A Stepford Cuckoo!!

Matt Nix keeps surprising me, its like each week, they confirm more and more comics characters and ones I never expected. Pretty awesome and cant wait to find out all the characters of this 1st season, once its all said and done.

I know Andreas from post Secret Invasion Thunderbolts as Swordsman.

Hopefully they bring it all. Incest included.

I mean technically they could go the CW direction where they use loads of really cheap CG and don't care because fans are fine as long as it does 'cool stuff' on a much smaller network budget

Oh God no. The CW is the last place to look for influence.....

Im not saying to do that for either XMen series or AoS but im saying that it is theoretically possible to be done acceptably on tv.

yeah, I mean, they are doing cool stuff on big sets or on actual locations like real streets, those ice slides are the perfect example, so yeah, Fox can try big things too, they just have to spend a bit more money and time and we'll be fine

btw, I always wanted to see stuff like that with Iceman on the movies, an actual action scene on the streets, and not indoor scenes, in a typical Singer fashion. So watching stuff like that on The flash gave me some feelings

Oh sure it can be done..thankfully the Gifted and AOS take themselves more serious and would not have PS2 type effects on their shows.

I'm not saying it will happen but would it then be better for the show to be cancelled if it couldn't afford expensive CGI?

I certainly know the answer to that when it comes to my favorite shows...

Shows with superheroes should not bite off more than they can chew. They should know their limits and be creative with what they have got.

So in other words once we've established the characters' powers, if they got a budget cut in season three meaning they couldn't afford to make it look as good you'd prefer it be cancelled?

Or you'd prefer, say, Sentinel Services placing an "anti-mutant dampening field" over the planet robbing them all of their powers for the remainder of the show?

Option number one for me. If there are huge budget cuts, down the line, its best to pack it up.
