The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread - Part 2

Oh. Yeah, I should probably ease up on listening to the OST, too.

Anyway, I messed up that last sentence pretty bad. I blame my phone. What I was referring to, was you saying that the ASM2 opening titles score reminded you of the Raimi opening titles in "a good way". I was trying to ask if there's a bad way? :oldrazz:
Oh all good. Yeah the bad way would be if I despised that series lol. Well I mean I only like SM1 for the most part.

Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent Six full performance of part of score and songs from the soundtrack at the after party premiere in New York:

This was beyond awesome!!

The instrumental version of Pharrell's "Here" was absolutely beautiful

Also, it's amazing how similar they can produce their live performance (I'm aware they have some backing tracks too) to sound to the actual OST. Pretty impressive stuff

Finally got around to watching this. I loved the introduction they gave Hans at the start! I have grown to really like the sogns on the deluxe album. They're all good in heir own way, and all comment on the film's themes.

'It's On Again' is obvious - Peter carries on despite his pain. 'Song For Zula', about love disfiguring you. 'That's My Man', from a female perspective with her boyfriend kicking ass and saving her. 'Here,' about unfinished business between lovers. 'Honest', praying for the best, hoping to find a way to be yourself again in weakness or strength.

Within The Web (First Day Jam) has become infectious. I think it's a damn good, upbeat 'Spidey' type song and a logical choice to end the original song portion on. Joyous and upbeat. Peter gravitating to his one true duty, being Spider-Man, and appreciating the world around him after all his turmoil. "A little revelation and then I can see."

I am in awe of that concert, that was dope. Hans is definitely having the time of his life right now.

I absolutely love that. And love that he's seemingly enjoying himself so much with Spidey :woot:

I liked seeing Hans up and about with the guitar. I'm used to seeing him stuck in his studio.

Great little summation about the second disk, agreed with everything you said, certainly complements the movie well

"Within The Web" surprisingly has seriously stuck with me and grown on me. I thought it was pretty good first time hearing it too, but I really dig that track a lot now

The opening of 'Within The Web' has the same musical DNA as the ending of 'No Place Like Home'. Check it out. Great song.

Woah, there are indeed a lot of samples from the score in 'Within The Web'.

Neat.

Didn't think Hans could make a memorable theme as MoS, but damn that Spidey theme is catchy I have been humming it for the past 2 weeks lol

Yeah I was literally just listening to 'No Place Like Home' and noticed that! It really does support what Hans said, about how most of the themes for the score just started out as songs they wrote and jammed too, then eventually developed into the score.. Such a cool/inventive/unique way to approach things

I think it works fantastically in the action scenes because it is such a simple, short motif. But as said, catchy.

Pure main theme:

Cold War (bits through the whole track)
No Place Like Home (opening trumpet)
I'm Spider-Man (whole track)
You're That Spider-Guy (end section)
Still Crazy (end section)
My Enemy (bits slithered in)

Variations:

You Need Me (end section)
So Much Anger (middle section)
I Need to Know (opening)

Cold War has got to be my favorite Track. The main Spider-Man theme is elevated to just intense majestic levels lol. I don't know how to describe it, but it puts the bumps on my goose.

From around 20 seconds in on "No Place Like Home", the whole "let her go" track and "The rest of my life", my heart absolutely sinks. Beautiful tracks to go with a beautiful ending.

The whole OST is mindblowing, it raises your heart and then breaks it, its fun and dark, its spiderman. So impressed with it.

"Let her go" is so depressing..
