The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread - Part 2

The score is 1/2 the movie experience for me. Thank you John Williams and Alan Silvestri.

I really enjoy most of the cuts in this film but I feel the score following Max and Electro really amped up the cartoony, goofy portrayal of this character. It was off putting and eye rolling at times.

I know Electro is one of those morts in the rogues gallery but it was too it was too dopey.

Really loved the more reflective pieces and the trumpeting hero theme is blasting in my head now. Cool stuff!

What was that song though when Pete was crossing the street to meet Gwen before Electro/TimeSquare scene?

The song, I think it's called 'For You', also worked well during the scene Peter investigates Roosevelt.

The parents song is Gone Gone Gone by Phillip Phillips

Everytime I heard that music, I pictured an ice cream truck rolling by. Or some clowns coming out of a tiny car. It was like they were mocking their own film.

anyone catch the little bit of [BLACKOUT]"Itsy Bitsy Spider"[/BLACKOUT] at the second Electro fight of the film? I thought that was hilarious haha

It reminded me of the music they played for Ned Beatty in Superman films.

Cheese alert.......cheese alert.

You mean this theme?

Where are you from? My icecream trucks usually play cheerful songs without deep innner schizophrenic monologues but maybe that's just in my country? Certainly not to dubstep either

My deluxe CD turned up this morning (is it just me or is it really hard to get the discs out?). I'd been listening on the Amazon player before, which has gaps between tracks… listening in iTunes now and it sounds great the way it's linked up.

There's a great version of the theme not on the official release, during the final Electro fight, when Gwen is preparing to push the button and Spidey is swinging around into position.

Been listening to Gone Gone Gone by Phillip Phillips. Catchy song and good lyrics.

I saw the movie this morning. And enjoyed it. Didn't find it nearly as bad as critics made it out to be.

I admired the score to the last film and was miffed when Zimmer replaced Horner b/c I believed Horner already established the themes/motifs/tone for Webb/Garfield's Spider-Man universe rather brilliantly. After seeing TAS-M2 I thought Zimmer and co. made pretty good effort with the soundtrack. The score was effective in the movie. I thought his Spidey theme was very catchy and fun. It felt like a major step up from TDKT and MOS scores, imo. I plan on purchasing the deluxe edition and hear how it stands on it's own. But overall I liked what I heard in the movie.

My experience as well.

Agreed. The theme really caught on with me. As you said, it's fun, easily integrated into scenes and captures the character effectively.

 The album segues into other tracks and has most of the film score on there, though not in order of the film.

Hahaha. The most epic Ice cream truck EVER lol.

Saw it for the third time last night and I really love that Spidey theme. Agreed with what AnneFan said about it. Also love Harry's theme in particular AND the theme used in the opening titles that is used a couple of times in the movie.

I love the slow version of Spidey's theme. But when it builds to a epic blowout in You're That Spider Guy, and Cold War, it's just epic.

Yeah like AnneFan said, when it's used in different ways and tones, it's great. All themes do that, and I thought Zimmer wrote a good one.
