The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread - Part 2

worst zimmer score I can remember

No way this soundtrack is amazing only behind dark knight rises and lion king and only a little behind them and the more I listen to it the more I like it. At first I was saying that spider man 1-3 soundtrack was better but now I like this one more and I cant stop listening to it and it sounds so unick.

So this is a tuff question for everyone but how would you rank all of the songs on the soundtrack form best to worse?

1. Spider-man 1 & 2 Danny Elfman scores (almost the exact same)
2. TASM2 Hans Zimmer
3. TASM1 James Horner
4. SM3 Christopher Young (the tender part of Sandman's theme still gives me goosebumps, but the score overall is mediocre)

As movies I don't like SM1 or 2 that much, but I can admit that the score in them is far better than in the new movies so far

I think this movie has the best score and I think sm1 and 2 where both great but I think sm 1-3 have the better main them. But want I mean is out of the like 30 songs on asm2 soundtrack how would you rank all 30 form best to worse lol.

damn, now that's a worthy challenge :hehe: gotta think about it, it is overall a really good ost

Yeah lol there are a few that stand out to me like still crazy, sum tolal, im goblin, let her go, I need to know and cold war to name a few but to rank all o31 of them would be hard lol I am going to try but need to think about it for a few days.

"I'm Goblin" is definitely a stand out from the villain stuff. it so perfectly captures the classic Green Goblin feel that I got from the comics, the creepy halloween-esque feeling

Builds tension amazingly well too, added to the scene I thought, probably contributed a lot to why I consider it one of the most tense/exciting moments in a spidey film and CBM's in general, loved the score!

Yeah and with the flashing lights in the movie very creep

That to and the still crazy builds tense to with the power plant fight and the goblin fight.

absolutely, the second time seeing the movie I was with my little siblings, both of them were gripping their seats during the entire sequence :funny:

I was gripping my seat with the goblin fight even though I new what was going to happened I couldn't stay still lol

So now that the movies been out for ages, I was wondering if we could attach all the songs in their soundtrack to their respective scenes?

I've filled in some, but not all;

I'm Electro
There He Is- Opening Titles
I'm Spider-Man- First scene after Parents scene, opening scene.
My Enemy
Ground Rules- Aunt May and Peter Talk post Gwen death ("Putting things away")
Look at Me
Special Project
You Need Me
So Much Anger
I'm Moving To England
I'm Goblin-Tranformation/Clocktower
Let Her Go- Gwen falls.
You're My Boy-Aunt May/Peter scene where she says "You're my boy"
I Need to Know
Sum Total
I Chose You
We're Best Friends- Bridge Scene
Still Crazy
The Rest of My Life- Funeral
You're That Spider Guy- Not 100% sure, think it's straight after ground rules.
No Place Like Home- Gwen's speech to Spider-Man saving people in NYC in truck Chase

Other notables

Song for Zula- Union Square
Gone Gone Gone- Peter's room, sets up his little collection of photos "Do I have to lose you to?"

I really loved the soundtrack for this movie. I never thought I would like a Spider-man theme as much as Horner, but I think I do now. Oh and does anyone know the name of track that plays when Peter finds Roosevelt? It sounds a lot like Aquatic Ambience from Donkey Kong Country by David Wise

It's called 'I Need To Know'.

And wow, it really does sound a lot like that Donkey Kong thing. :wow:

Yeah that song from Donkey Kong plays on the water level. It is literally my childhood haha I even learned it on guitar

I recently started to love "Special Projects" especially the final part.

I like "Let her go".

Funny story! I was walking around the other day and I have the soundtrack on my iPod.

So, I was walking, and I had a can of Pepsi, and I was jumped by my friend, and I dropped the can. That track started playing as soon as! XD

Lol really? I love donkey kong one of the big reason is the music. I guss I am going to have to go back and play that level. Does any one have donkey kong tropical frezze on the wii u? I think it has a better sound track then the old ones and one of the best soundtracks in any video game ever.

I think I succeeded in deducing the correct order. The only two tracks I'm not 100% on are "Ground Rules" and "I Chose You". Bolded songs are songs not actually on the soundtrack but I still included for completion's sake.

  • There He Is - Opening logos/Parents scene
  • I'm Spider-Man - Opening swing
  • Cold War - "Say hello to Alexsei Sytsevich!"
  • No Place Like Home - Gwen's Speech
  • Ground Rules - Chinatown
  • Special Project - Harry speaks to Norman
  • Look At Me - Electro's origin
  • You Need Me - Harry and Peter rebond
  • Song for Zula - Union Square
  • My Enemy - Times Square fight
  • Gone Gone Gone - Peter puts the collage on his wall
  • Pursuit of Happiness - Webshooter experiments
  • You're My Boy - Aunt May and Peter
  • I'm Moving to England - Gwen at the interview and Peter tearing down the collage
  • I Need to Know - Peter discovers the underground lair
  • I Chose You - Peter gets Gwen's voicemail
  • Sum Total - Harry's transformation
  • We're Best Friends - "You're my path"
  • So Much Anger - Electro blacks out the city
  • Still Crazy - Spider-Man vs Electro at the power station
  • I'm Goblin - Spider-Man vs Goblin
  • Let Her Go - Gwen falls
  • The Rest of My Life - :(
  • You're That Spider Guy - Spider-Man returns and fights Rhino
  • It's On Again - End credits

I'm pretty sure that "Ground Rules" is also in the scene where Peter listens to Gwen's speech?

Otherwise, that's an awesome list, thanks so much for compiling it!

If you mean at the end of the film, that's the opening to "You're that Spider Guy" :yay:

Most welcome! I saw the film again yesterday so while it's fresh in my mind decided to take a crack at figuring it out.

Hmm, I can't be 100% sure, but the start of it reminds me of when Aunt May is packing away the boxes!

We'll go with your list though! :)

Such a great movie, the soundtrack makes me smile

Oh yeah, it's possible it was used there too. All I can say for definite is that "You're that Spider Guy" is definitely the track playing when he's listening to the speech onwards. Before that bit I can't recall for sure :)

Me too, I love it :D Has to be one of the most original CBM scores I've heard since the first Iron Man.

I also did the same thing for the first Amazing Spider-Man in 2012 as I like soundtracks better in film order.

EDIT: Having a listen I did make another mistake, Special Project starts sounding like the Norman/Harry scene but actually it's the bit where Menken frames Harry and has him thrown out of Oscorp, so goes between "I Need to Know" and "I Chose You" instead.
