I will start of by appreciating the music where it was perfect
The Alley chase scene
The last scene when he listening to Uncle Ben's message on his phone
Basically all the emotional scenes are really well done
Now what went wrong
The Basket Ball scene-Really amateur stuff, too corny. Is this a Mickey Mouse cartoon?
The Main theme-Too triumphant.Okay it needs to be triumphant but need to start off tense and build up slowly.Listen to how Elfman's theme and Avengers theme start
Wrong choice of music at the wrong parts-Like when the Lizard is flinging cars at the bridge and Spidey arrives, the music needed to really tense for the audience to get the feel and he put in the triumphant theme like the fight has already been won *Facepalm*
He ruined practically all action sequences with bad soundtrack.I knew that was gonna happen when he said 'The action music will take care of itself'
I think its one of the reasons why the action came off as lack lustre compared to Raimi's trilogy.Good music can double the epicness of a battle
Well, uh... Thanks for clarifying at least. Nice to see you can appreciate the emotional stuff.
About the stuff I completely disagree on:
The main theme - exactly what Webb asked for. And according to me, probably the best CBM theme we've gotten since John Williams' Superman theme. It's beautiful, it's perfect, it's memorable.
The basketball scene - Peter was trolling Flash and being annoying, with a smile on his face. Of course the soundtrack is going to be lighthearted.
The bridge scene - now this is where I really have no idea where you're coming from. The cue is called
The Bridge, and it's 5:16 long. The main theme is played
twice during those 5 minutes... The first time when Peter swings up onto the bridge, it's even played in minor, giving off more of an epic feeling, rather than triumphant. The second time the main theme is played, is where Peter finally says "I'm Spider-Man", and swings away. It is played in major, that time, which was perfectly fitting, but then it cuts back to Peter sitting on the floor, being all sentimental, and the music switches back to minor again.
The rest of the bridge sequence where the Lizard tosses and cars into the water and stuff with the electric guitar felt TSSM as ****. I loved it.
Now, I do of course realize that not everyone share the same opinion, but you're
really generalizing some stuff. Especially the bridge sequence.
Well, hey, at least you liked the emotional stuff.
