The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread

As far as I know it's never been said why Horner didn't come back.

So it seems.

I think he was just hired for TASM1 without contract, and sony figured they can try and get someone better.

IMO, I don't think Zimmer is better (though in no way worse). Just different. But that's me.

It's like they changed everyone else so why not the composer too. They hired new writers, cinematographer, costume designer, editors, etc. IMO, they changed how they wanted to approach the filmmaking process so the end result would have a different feel and overall tone than the first film.

That's what has me a little worried. I loved the tone of TASM. If TASM2 just takes what TASM did but, obviously, makes it better, then grand stuff.

As long as the writers keep the drama and character development that made TASM, for me, an ace film, then happy days.

Its funny but this movie really does look like its going to have a completely different feel from TASM1.

Again, I hope not too different. Or at least, better different lol.

I'm sure there will be enough "similarities" or elements carried over from the first film though to make it feel like they are part of the same universe. But I think TASM2 will be "better different" as you just said. For instance, more daytime scenes, a bigger scope, better villains, better costume, better music, etc.

Oh for sure. It looks like a completely different movie. The only thing carrying over are the characters.

Even with all the changes made to the peeps making this movie, remember that Webb is still at the helm. I really think that ASM2 will not venture far from ASM. Sure there are more daytime scenes with Spidey and the palette is offering brighter colors but otherwise I think the movies will be very comparable.

We'll get a very lighthearted, fun movie towards the beginning with Peter fully enjoying being Spider-man and full-on acceptance of his role as the hero. But as the movie progresses the tone will shift and by the end, especially if Gwen dies, it may even seem like a different movie.

The characters and their relationships will be the centerpoint once again as that has been Webb's plan from the start. As much action as they are presenting with the trailers, I think ASM2 will have a strong, intimate feel much like ASM.

I hold the same reservations as some others about it being different with all the changing crew members, but absolutely agree with you UWH -- it's still Marc Webb at the helm

Good point. I've heard from test screenings that the movie still very much contains the drama that TASM had.

You've heard from test screenings?? Do tell. :yay:

Generally, I've heard more positive than negative. I've heard very general statements; "It was really good", "I liked it", "Way better than TASM".

I've heard a couple of negatives. One saying, "It's eh."

so in porcentages? like 80% positives and 20% negatives?
60% positive 40 % negative?

that´s good, god! just two more months...
Yeah man. Cool avvy. I think I've said that before. I absolutely LOVE the shot of him in the Super Bowl Ad #2, where he leaps off the building in "christ" arms. So good.

3 months for me..:csad:
Damn dude. I would try to give some words of comfort....but I just can't.

Didn't you say that the person who said "eh" doesn't like comic book movies to begin with?

Whoa. Wait. They're already doing test screenings? You work in the mail room at Sony, correct?

One more question, those general statements that you heard, were those direct from the people that saw the test screening or is that just the 'buzz' running around the offices?

Seriously i can't wait for a sneek peek to the score!

Yeah. Well rough screenings. These occurred over early fall last year? Something like that.

Some were direct answers. The negative one in particular was from a friend through a friend type of thing. So both direct and buzz.

Rough screenings. OK. Yeah, I would imagine that it was rough enough in early last fall there were prob still some storyboards in there for parts of the cgi that weren't started or even parts of the cgi were like Atari graphics. There probably wasn't much if any sound effects or music at all.

Any idea when the actual test screenings of the movie will start?

These rough screenings have incomplete CGI, storyboards, messy editing, scenes that will be deleted, and not to mention stock music.
