The Helmet of Fate

Forced? I can't force anyone to do anything despite naming myself the Purple Man.

I'm just sick of your constant whining about comic books. It irritates me to no end when I'm looking for conversation that doesn't degenerate into "I hate this character because I don't like the concept, and I used to get picked on in school so I have to take out my aggression on fictional characters."

It's like dropping an artist into a monkey cage and expecting some intelligent conversation instead of just a bunch of $#!^ getting thrown around everywhere.

There is no such thing as a bad character, just one that is written bad.

All you people do is whine whine whine whine.

Oh god, I've just stooped down to your level. I'm whining about your whining.

Something must be done! *BLAM!*

B*tching and moaning on message boards makes Superman cry.

Yes, thats why the Hype comes equipped wiht an ignore function, if you dont like, dont read it. But your holier than thou attitude is getting tiresome. Its a messageboard, if youre going to take it that seriously, please find another remedy for your free time.

And you don't have to read comics that include a character that you don't like.

Hence no reason to whine and complain. When I want to read a thread about Dr.Fate, I shouldn't have to put up with your whining about how terrible a character Black Alice is. She's an interesting character with an interesting power. But for some reason you instantly write her off as terrible.

Maybe I wouldn't act all holier than thou if you weren't so damned ignorant.

People shouldn't have to do a lot of things in this thing we call life, Purple People-Eater. But they do because they, like you, quite frankly have limited options. So I'm afraid you've got a choice to make--one of four options, in fact: 1) suck it up and deal with our chosen form of expression on this, a forum for all comic-related opinions, 2) recall that the "ignore" button is your friend, 3) continue to make an ass of yourself by constantly whining about our whining, or 4) quit the Hype altogether, 'cause I guarantee you I'm gonna be around for a loooong time to come. Myself, I'm hoping you choose option 3. It's ever-so-much more fun this way. :)

Everybody knows that positive opinions of things are inherently superior to negative opinions of things. Why? Look they just are, okay? Which is why all negative opinions of things are whiny. Because they are. Because I say they are.

Whiners.

It irritates me to no end when I'm looking for conversation that doesn't degenerate into "I hate this character because I don't like the concept, and I used to get picked on in school so I have to take out my aggression on fictional characters."

It's such a shame you have to resolve your totally sucking in high school, by continually identifying with things that suck.

The funnest part of intellectual dishonesty is that anybody can do it!

I always wished I were picked on in high school. I always felt like I was lacking some part of my full geekdom without ever having been pantsed or stuffed in a locker.

People will have different opinions, having a different one from yours doesnt make someone ignorant. God, youre so ****ing silly.

And you know just so's I've said it, but it annoys the crap out of me when people go around saying how awesome they think, say, Infinite Crisis was. Just grinds my gears, it does.

And yet you don't hear me going around demanding that they stop, on the grounds that I am somehow personally entitled to not have to acknowledge that such views exist.

Everything you said before this line was rendered null by this line. Quoting Mencia is an unforgivable offense

You do realize Waid is writing the Elongated Man sections, right?
I'll give you three guess as to whether or not that's going to stop me from blaming Johns, and the first two don't count.

Yeah exactly, look at the GL thread, are we telling people to stop claiming Hal is the best GL ever? No, but were going to voice our disapprovement to such a staement.

Speak for yourself, my goal is to get everyone to stop claiming Hal is the best GL ever.

How long do you you give a Dr. fate ongoing, seriously?

This is a good point. There was nothing wrong with the Hector Hall "Fate" either. Why not just mesh all the damn Halls into one book, with a Hawk or Fate or Hawk/Fate title or maybe give Hawkman the helm and we could all relsh in the Hawky- Fate-ness of... :cmad:

They should just bring back Kent and Inza Nelson. Seriously, Wm. Messner-Loebs' Dr. Fate in the early '90's was good stuff.

A Dr. Fate title has never actually been good. Even Loebs' run was really just mediocre. The Fate mini from a few years ago with Hector showed some promise though.

I don't think Fate really lends himself to an ongoing, myself. I'd prefer to see him in JSA more than anything else (provided he's not Ralph, in which case I'd prefer to see him dead on a pike). If they did do a Dr. Fate title, I think Ostrander would be a good pick to write it, especially if he approached it with a similar mentality to his Spectre series. Fate shouldn't be a superhero so much as a mystical force of nature.

The possibility of a Ostrander written Dr. Fate would make me fangasm in pure ecstasy.

I don't think it's that unlikely for Kent to come back. Nabu was killed in the Day of Vengeance Special, but something is still animating the Helm of Fate. Maybe it's Kent and/or Inza and/or the others who were shown to be inhabiting Fate's mystical artifacts.

If they bring back Kent AGAIN, I'm not going to bother with Dr. Fate anymore.
