The Michael Myers legacy will continue on when Dimension Films, along with producer Malek S. Akkad, gear up for the latest entry in the
Halloween franchise.
Back in May we exclusively reported that the next film was happening, and it was confirmed by the official website. Now, there’s a bit more clarity as
Schmoeville reports that the title – as of this writing – is
Halloween: The Next Chapter.
They say the film is a fresh new take on the
Halloween legacy that will be a companion to the Zombie movies, which may or may not confirm Scout Taylor-Compton’s
premature casting announcement. New writers are attached and expected to turn in draft this fall. This is when (presumably) the Weinstein Company will once again change their mind and go in yet another direction.
John Carpenter’s 1978 classic followed a psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood for the murder of his sister, who escapes and stalks a bookish teenage girl and her friends while his doctor chases him through the streets.
Zombie told a similar tale, while mixing in plenty of Zombie-isms. The sequel went in a more personal and brutal direction. It should be interesting to see what this
Next Chapter is, but I like the homage to
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter…
