The Huntsman: Winter's War

I wish they would release more promotional photos of the queens. I want to make a desktop wallie with them. Guess until then I can finish my Furiosa/Rita one that I'm still working on. Queens can wait.

lol Poor Hemsworth and Chastain. Nothing interesting for them to do in those poster gifs.

I'm mainly seeing this for Blunt and Theron. They at least look really cool and cunning in this. Theron was the best part of the first film.

Another new trailer. And it's still pretending that this thing's a full-on prequel. Why do I get the feeling whoever's editing these newer trailers hasn't even seen a full cut of the movie and are just doing whatever with them? This clearly looks like a prequel/sequel combo like the 300 follow-up was.

Also, I'm starting to wonder if they only came up with Emily Blunt's character just to rip-off a certain other popular fantasy movie. An estranged sister (who was never mentioned in the first movie, btw) who has ICE POWERS, eh? GEE, WHY DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR?

Because she's based off the fairy tale of the Snow Queen, who did have her own kingdom with her own armies.....

It's also the fairy tale that partially inspired the White Witch in the Narnia series.

Have no idea what's going on, but the ladies look really cool. I will see it.

As Majik said, she's based on the Snow Queen from the fairy tales, which is also where Disney got the Frozen character from. Disney is one of the least original studios in the world; they love taking from other stories, and an Ice/Snow Queen is a very popular fairy tale character to use.

Still, why is Uni going with this "prequel" marketing approach WHEN IT'S NOT JUST A PREQUEL?

...because it takes place before the last film.

Forgive me, but I'm failing to see where your confusion comes from.

Because it's not just a prequel. The very first trailer made and synopsis it clear that it was both prequel (Huntsman origin) and sequel (Ravenna revived). It was also said in one of the cast interviews that was done during the shooting of the movie. Yet since trailer 2 has come out it's been marketed as only a prequel.

So either something changed since the shooting of the movie (changing it from sequel/prequel to prequel only) or they want to keep the sequel parts under wrap (whcih makes no sense).

"The story before Snow White."

Oh, really?

Just saw the trailer for this at the theatre. Seemed meh looking, just like the first. Not to be a downer.

Review's out. Looks like I was right. It IS a prequel/sequel combo like 300: Rise of an Empire was! Then why is Universal going out of their way to make it sound like just a prequel? Also, it seems as though the movie goes well out of its way to try and keep Snow White out of the story. Which is honestly fine, because Kristen Stewart was probably the weakest part about that last movie. She can't act!

My (german) review: http://wp.me/p70Tnk-1jO
I hated it. The studio knows, that the critics will hate it. They were more concerned about the embargo than Disney was with Star Wars 7.
It's more sequel than prequel, only around 10 minutes of it take place before Snow White and the Huntsman.

The early reviews aren't going so well. I wonder how the film is tracking?

I think this movies budget was lesser than the first one even though the extra cost's went to other areas like getting in Blunt and Chastain as well as paying Theron up to $15m for this.
