The "I am SO SICK of all this talk about recasts/reboots/revamps/re-whatever!" thread

I loved the Nightcrawler scene. That's probably the best action scene in all three movies. I do think that scene in The Last Stand where Wolverine fights Magneto's "army" in the woods is on par with him fighting Stryker's soldiers in the X-mansion. The Last Stand also has the end battle, which is the only time in all three movies that we get to see a large scale team battle. Magneto also moving the Golden Gate bridge was excellent. I liked that as opposed to him being weak after using the mutant conversion device in the first movie. Magneto is an ultra powerful mutant. I don't want to see him weakened unless another powerful mutant makes it so.

But all in all I really want to see some more mutants. They did my boy Colossus wrong twice. He's my favorite X-Man, and we still haven't really seen him do much of anything.:csad: I know they can have a movie that focuses on the mutants that got overshadowed in the first few movies. I know they're not going to do it though, and I don't know why. It's like they fear having something X-Men related without having Wolverine involved somehow. The X-Men name is large enough as it is, it's time to see more than what we're getting.

My favorite mutant is Storm. She got shafted 3 times, & I'm still not pushing for a reboot.

My favorite is Colossus, and I still can't get over the fact that they haven't really used him yet. With a general audience that goes gaga over something as utterly ******ed as curving bullets, how in the hell does a man who turns himself into a huge man of metal not get screen time? Colossus is easy to do onscreen.

I wouldn't say he's easy; the problem is, he's not as popular as Wolverine. The movies were all built pretty much around him, w/everyone else as a supporting character.

Which sucks to high heaven. Wolverine has really gotten stale with me, and he's not the only popular X-Man. Casual people knew who Professor X, Cyclops, Gambit, etc. were before the movie hit. There are people that don't read comics that know who "that big ass metal dude" is. I've had Colossus pics plenty of places, and I've had people who have never read a comic say something along the lines of "so you're a Colossus fan?" or "nice Colossus pic." I know they could pull him off to where the fans clamor for him. Hell when X2 came out, outside of the movie being good, most people at my school(was in high school) kept talking about how they can't wait to see more Colossus.

I really don't think the movies got X-Men right (even X2) because they're missing that famiily element. You know, those character moments where you feel like it's a real society that Xavier has created and the brotherhood/sisterhood relationships between the characters. Funny banters, arguments, whatever..all that stuff was barely in the movies.

I really think that X-Men as a franchise just works as comics, or a TV show. There's too many characters to deal with.

I thought they got close enough to the family aspect. They could have gotten closer if there wasnt such an age gap. They were either adults or students, not a lot of middle ground. And of course, the focus on Wolvie doesnt help considering his loner attitude. Not saying it was perfect, but they definitely hit upon it.

You're right. We(X-Men fans from the comics) might already know that Xavier has a vision for humans and mutant unity, but the films didn't really express that as well as they could have. We got a small taste of it, then we saw Wolverine and Rogue doing something. I think they should have focused more on humans and mutants having strife than they did. I know they spoke on a bit, but it's like they didn't really get into the thick of it. It was like we got the icing of the cake, but not the cake itself.

yeah, it's a nice taste of it. Think about certain shows like True Blood, The Sorpronos, Firefly or whatever. They work well as TV shows because you get drawed into their world and their relationships. I love movies, but they even have their disadvantages sometimes.

There's truth in that. You have 2 hours to get the story out & then that's it. And MAYBE you get to come back & pick it up in two years. I think this is a major factor in why fans are so consistently dissatisfied with comic book movies. A Harry Potter story, by contrast, is a self-contained novel whereas comics are ongoing monthly installments of 40+ year storylines.

I like the idea of a live-action X-Men TV show.

on Showtime...then we can get berzerker Wolverine in all his glory however if left up to me Season One would be the original five X-men

As much as Wolverine is my favorite X-Men character. I still think season one should center around the original five X-Men, it's about time that people should know that Wolverine is not the main protagonist and that it's about Xavier and his team of X-Men. Besides, Wolverine taking center stage just ruins the character, I mean he's supposed to be the loner/outsider/anti-hero/animalistic killing machine/sarcastic/cynical and actions speak louder than words for him.

And they should get actual comic books writers to write it. Maybe, Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost (the guys that worked on Hulk Vs. Wolverine and are currently writing the X-Force comic book) or heck, even Chris Claremont.

no Kyle and Yost....maybe CC

^^^Chris Claremont is definitely a better choice as writer.:up::up:

But who should direct it???

The show can have a revolving door of directors like 24, but it has the same writers and producers so it doesn't stray too far from the concept. No Wolverine for the show, as he's way too overexposed and there are other X-Men that need attention. I think that they can do a modified version of the original cast. As opposed to just five, maybe they can add on 2 to make it seven. Instead of the original five, they can have other popular mutants take the place of the lesser members of the original five. Like they'd replace Angel with Storm or maybe someone else. Sorry to Angel fans, but there's no way he's cool enough to keep on screen long. His powers are that he has wings. That's not going to go far to impress viewers. They could keep Beast, but start him out as the furry blue creature instead of the human looking way he started out. Then throw in two other characters to add a little more personality to the team like Havok, Madrox, Kitty, or anyone else that could work as a "first class" member without compromising their character. Wolverine or Gambit wouldn't work as "first class" characters, because they don't seem like the types that Xavier would pick to start out.

I don't see any studio or network exec going for that.

Foamy the Squirrel has a rant about this topic that is just hilarious. I can't post a link b/c of language, but look it up.
