The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

Im not really that excited for this film. I wasn't as excited for it as I was for part 1 and 2 but after hearing all these bad reviews I have really low expectations...

I enjoyed the movie. I thought that it was entertaining, and better than 1 and 2. But they're was alot of back and forth going into the movie, with Harry Osborn that I didn't like or the ending story arc between Peter and harry. The Special Effects and fight scenes where great. Sandman beautiful. black Spidey and Venom awesome. I think Raimi should made the main story about harry and peter to finish that story arc. Peter should have fought harry first half of the movie as the New Green Goblin or some Goblin with Goblin mask to show he was continue his father legacy and then harry bumps his head and forgets half of his life. He stays in hospital half of movie. sandman is just a crook who is endowed with powers nothing more who distracts spider-man. Spidey day stuff still in it. Meteor hits, it gets on spidey spidey gets arrogant. keep eddie brock stuff. More Black Spidey doing things. Venom is at construction site with MJ and Sandman thinks it black spidey he goes to fight him. Spidey sees it on news goes to construction site. Battle royal until they figure out they all want spidey. (Venom does not make a pact with Sandman) Harry sees it on the news memories come back and butler tells him about what really happened and he goes to help and dies as peter's friend. Some water is thrown on Sandman or something he goes away and they seperate the symbiote from brock and arrest him it attaches to the police van and he is in a cell the black symbiote slither in on him he smiles and a piece of it goes down the hall to another inmate Cletus Kassidy. End.

Flaws: He punches sandman he goes through him, he punches him another time it doesn't. They should have explain how he gets hurt and when he feels it and when he doesn't by those scientist who revved up that machine. The cops should have spoken to them about the test they were doing. Instead of let the audience assume. And when does Sandman fly, you can't catch a wind all the time. All that mud and sand you manage to keep a necklace in your hand, are you trying to insult my intelligence. A bomb that close to Harry he should died.

didn't like: I didn't like how Topher Grace portrayed Venom. There supposed be a change, not a nerdy venom. A vicious Venom. Eddie brock was ok, but he should have been a little cooler or laid back and funny not nerdy funny. Bad casting choice (IMO). I think they cast him because he was young and looked like another toby. No reason for glen or captain stacy, and no reason to make sandman uncle ben's killer. I don't think raimi know if he wants to make this for adults or children. His goofiness was all over this movie. He does not know how to ground stuff in reality to make believeably and finish up your story arcs and get to another one. people were waiting for the revenge of Harry since Spidey 2. He dropped the ball on that story arc, which should have messed up the franchise. You have to care about your stories and characters, or you will be another X3. And it should have been another Goblin, making up characters? Night Surfer? What are we going to get in 4 the speed skater(that black character). Stop getting comic book properties and making them like they don't have a story base. It's not your movies, it Spider-man (Follow the comic books) if you had all of Peter Parkers friends in the first movie, then you would not have a problem with stories or finding stories, if you just followed the books from the beginning. 6 movies? I don't think I want to see another story, they did not give me interest to see another you have to do that at the end. You can not get the arrogant with your success, to say "Well it spider-man they will see it!" ex. Superman 3-4 and Superman Returns. Superman is bigger than a director. Spider-man is bigger than a director, humble yourself and follow the books. And in ending I would say the only battle royale I would had was in Spider-man 6 with the Sinister Six. With Special Effects Galore and ending the franchise with that. But if you kill off your villians you can't do that..... Creative Genuis(CG)

I wouldn't go as far as to say that it was better than X3. That's giving it WAY too much credit. This was, as it's been openly said, the Batman and Robin of the Spider-Man movies. Awful is too good of a word for it.

Every thing about this movie sucked except the swinging CGI and James Franco being shirtless. Everything. I can't believe I spent 3 years waiting for this peice of crap. Tobey was absolutely horrible, although most of that is due to the script. On the scene at the bridge, it was like someone squeezed onions and Sam called out 'whine!' The plot was so lacking, I seriously think that my day-dream of a fanfic was much better thought out than what they wasted $250 million on to cover up the lack of any substance whatsoever to this movie. The only one who even seemed to be acting at all was James.

I'm surprised I didn't cry.

I wanted to leave after nothing happened for an HOUR! A GOD DAMN HOUR of emo love triangle teen drama. Then when things started to happen they sucked. Since when is the green goblin ll a extreme snowboarding, reptile from mortal combat mask stealing phantom of the opera faced pansy? Why did peter pull a saturday night fever moment? In a movie about the duality of humans one would expect the character with 2 personalities to be more of a factor. Or to at least refer to himself in the 3rd person like he is suppose to.

This rates lower the GHOST RIDER to me. Its that bad.

Sam Raimi should stick to making movies for Grindhouse after his ghey rape of one of the coolest comic book heros and stories of all time.

I hope he chokes on his big fat paycheck.

James Cameron assume your role as Spider-Man 4 director as it was meant to be and make this movie as dark and serious as you can.

James Cameron will be to Spiderman what Chris Nolan is to Batman.

Spiderman isn't exactly a "dark and serious" superhero.

It wasn't terrible but I tend to be a critical person and I found a lot to complain about. I guess if you just look at it as a summer action flick it was pretty good but as part of the Spider-Man trilogy, not so much.

Sandman as Ben's killer was unnecessary.
Eric Foreman played himself essentially.
Dumbed down story for kids.
The Stacys were esentially throw away characters.
unnecesarry dancing throughout.
Crying.
No joking.
Continuity errors.
Awful score.
The patriotism was cringe worthy and I'm a big fan of patriotism. But here it was almost like a parody.
New Yorkers loving Spider-Man.
Uncharacteristic moments for everyone.
Bad acting (except for Franco.) Even TM didn't seem like he was into it. Howard was ok too as well as JJJ and Hal Fishman.
Had his mask off way too much. Sitting on a web in the park? Swinging on chandiliers at the bar?

Riiculous.

I also ha my "WTF?!" face on through out.

I agree completley. That sums up this whole movie. Venom seemed rushed.

They could have made it Lizard and had him as a tool or something. It would have been more well written but Venom was forced on Raimi and co and we were stuck with this piece. All too sell more merch. Sad.

Raimi being forced to do Venom isnt a reason to go and blow his entire movie......if he just screwed venom but did the rest right then i'd be sympathetic....but this movie blew chunks!!!! WTF?

I disagree. Even with my issues with SR, which I have pointed out over in the SR boards, I thought SR was better than SM3. SM3 just felt like one WTF moment after the other.

SM3 was an incredible failure as a movie. The incredible lack of focus is just disgusting. I don't see how anyone during editing could have seen this movie as passable, even by Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider standards.

Scenes jump from one storyline to the next. None of the story lines are fully fleshed out. They didn't explain WTF the symbiote is to the non-Spider-Man fan. WTF did Harry force MJ break up with Peter while there was no real conclusion to that.

Then there are other plot holes and disappointing character development choices. Ugh. What a bad movie. I have to disregard this movie now.

well, that's your opinion. sm3 is for me one of the worst movies ever. at least some other bad movies are at least entertaining. this was just stupid and plain boring.
