The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

[
One of the most important things wrong with Spider-Man 3 was the ending. You just weren't excited to see another Spider-Man film after it.

Could that be because they don't WANT to make another? 3 Is a good number to stop at.

Spider Man 3 turned into Batman Forever or Batman and Robin.

Harry on a skateboard. A minimum of Venom. Too much villains, same old cheap jokes. MJ,MJ,MJ and MJ. A crying festival. Sandman kills uncle....an accident actually....

Raimis best work is Spider Man and Spider Man 2. SM 3 is below that. Raimi doesnt like Venom and you feel it in the movie. VENOM should have had more screentime and Harry gets too much screentime.

The movie crowd was like.....nobody was talking about the movie ! Some people even looked at their clocks (when does this end ?).

The crowd in Spider Man 2 was like = What a great and exciting movie ! The people were smilin and jokin...

P.S. SM 2 was one of the best comic book movies ever made.

Your friends and the few people you watched during the movie are not a proper representation of the populace.

I have taken many psychology courses, and I can tell you your friends will usually reflect your opinions and the few people you will look at during a movie serve a self-serving bias.

If you want to know what people really think, you go onto the web, read reviews, and things of that nature. Don't generalize by saying my friends and guys in row x hated it, so it is hated.

Note: I am in no way bashing the haters of this movie (if you hated it, that is fine), as this works in the opposite direction, also. I am just stating too many people here use friends and a small crowd to determine the movie's general outlook, and that is an incorrect way to do it.

my wife and i finally saw SM3 yesterday. there's no two ways about it; the movie sucked. very disappointed. what the hell was Raimi thinking? there were only a couple of scenes worth salvaging. the best being the church scene. they blew it. the movie would've been much better if the central story were peter and eddie going after gwen, or if they made eddie and gwen more of a couple (either real or imagined by eddie) and then he loses gwen to spidey/peter.

This Is why you all bash this movie.... Because It wasn't what "you" wanted....
i think people are bashing the movie because it sucked.

...And just like with all the other 'Paper Champions', the chickens have come home to roost.

This is just further proof that constant changes and tinkerings with an already GREAT idea will eventually lead to CRAP. The road may take different twists and turns, but always ends at the same place.

Its not that I hated it, its more like I Was not entertained by it and it was a very bad movie. Probably never see again, at least in the next 3 or so years.

I just got to see it in Imax.

-Most of the fight scenes to me were way to fake looking. Especially the first Parker/Harry fight.

-I admit I have not read a comic in a long time, but since when can Sandman fly? Even if he could scatter his sand to fly in the win, how does he control the wind to blow him where he wants to go? I Do not remember Sandman being able to increase his mass either..perhaps I am missing something. Speaking of sandman, did not like the water downs, I am just trying to do the right thing to his character.

-Venom.. again (to me) looked bad, was a vary undeveloped character.

-Gwen was underused and misused.

-The movie was all over the place and unorganized.

-Too long. And what I mean is, for a movie full of bad plot and no real purpose it just lasted too long.

This was just not a very good movie. But it will make more money than I could ever dream about spending, because these days people dont care about a movie being bad or good.

Interesting to me..

XM2 I really enjoyed..thought was the best Xmen movie.
SM2 I really enjoyed..thought was the best SM Movie.

XM3 I thought was horrible, bad story, acting, script. Made an insane amount of money.
SM3 I THought was horrible, bad story, acting, script. Will make insane amount of money.

Perhaps my taste in movies is not that good.

Spiderman 3 was PURE cheesiness and filled with some pretty bad one liners some jokes should of just been left out.

I want my spidey villians to be "Insert whatever here"

This Is why you all bash this movie.... Because It wasn't what "you" wanted....

The reason I bash this movie is because it wasnt what anyone wanted and it wasnt what Sam wanted.

Sam + GG2 + Sandman = Great Movie!

Sam + GG2 + Sandman + Sony + Avi Arad + Venom = $$$ Garbage.

The only part i can actually sit through are the GG2 and Sandman fights. They just have the same fell as Spidey 1 & 2. Everything was perfect until....well you know the rest......." Now dig on this "

Yep, I have to agree with most people on this thread. The movie wasn't terrible, after all it's a comic book film. However, the movie just didn't have the right pacing and had way to much going on. It's like they tried to put 3 movies in one. Spiderman 3 fell victim just like other blockbuster sequels. All eye candy and very little substance. I liked how the movie started out with Flint first transforming into Sandman. I wish they focused on him and save Venom for the next sequel. I just don't see how Raimi can watch the film and not see some major flaws.

- The Harry/Peter final confrontation was just bad. They build up the confrontation in Spiderman 1 and 2 and this is what we get for the final in Spiderman 3. Harry get's amnesia and forgets Peter is Spidey and how much he hates Peter through half the film. He does the twist with MJ and a couple of scenes later he remembers everything. He uses MJ to break up with Peter and for some stupid reason MJ agreed to do it. Peter sobs and decide to wear the black costume, which turns him into a dim witted/bad guy. He goes to see Harry and they fight. Harry throws a pumpkin bomb at Peter and Peter sends the pumpkin bomb back at Harry which explodes in his face. A few scenes later Peter comes back at Harry's home to ask for some help in beating Sandman and Venom. Harry says get out of here because he hates Peter. Next scene we get the all important butler and he tells Harry that Peter isn't your enemy and Norman did kill himself. Why the butler waited this long to tell Harry is beyond me. He must have told himself to wait until they nearly kill each other. It's more climatic :whatever: . Harry forgives Peter because the butler said so, but Harry must still have amnesia because Peter threw that pumpkin bomb back at him which could have killed him and left disfigurement on his face for life. Peter didn't care if Harry lived or died, he just turned around and walked out the house. Of course Peter was possesed by the symbiote, but Harry didn't know that. Doh!

They tried to put everything that was good about the first 2 Spiderman films into this 3rd one. The drama, comedy and action x10. They over did it and this is the result. No solid character build up. I could care less of any of them. The plot keeps jumping from this to that back to this. Not very organized with to much going on and makes me go .

I give it 4 out of 10. It has plenty of action and I get to see Sandman and Venom in live action big screen.:woot:

I just guess you guys should thank your lucky stars Peter didn't call forth a mighty robot to vanquish Sandman when he added extra sand to increase his bodymass at the end of the film.

That scene is going to be in the Japanese Directors Cut. :woot:

With the snappy Japanese theme song in the background too? I heard they filmed an extra scene just for this version of Venom watching the fight, saying "The hell?" in Japanese.

LOL, brings back memories of those early 80's Spiderman Japanese shows.

That was Days of our lives material.
In fact, the ending was soap opperish that I thought Sandman and Spidey would hug each other in tears and:

Sandman: We can't possibly kick each other's ass today, cause of my guilt over your uncle's death...will you forgive me, please?
Spiderman: Well, I forgive you, Sandy. But when you rob a bank tomorrow, I'll kick your ass and send you back to jail, all right...
Now, fly away, buddy...fly away...

hehehe.

Yeah, I saw it the second week it was out...and was hoping the fanboys who were bashing it were wrong.

They were right.

Spider-Man 3 is on the same level as Batman Forever. A lot of plot holes and an akward team-up of villains. Not quite as bad as Batman & Robin, and I probably will add it to my collection, though I may wait for the directors cut. Hopefully that fixes some of the major issues with this film.

Ugh. Well, at least Fantastic Four II was good.

I have to agree on Spider-man 3 but on Fantastic Four 4: RotS disagree. Had to say that was the worst 8 bucks I ever paid. Alba was ok, but the plot was so cluttered and tossed together, it became a walking punchline in its own right. Really wished they had hired a writing and directing team for that series that would have done something more worthwhile to the series. Although I'll give them: Johnny, Ben and Reed in regards to casting right.

It's a series that really just goes a slight notch over the Corman version. Overall their still due for a lot of work....the most recent animated series...yeah, that was atrocity.

Well, we're all entitled to our opinions. I felt that with FFII, not only was the casting on point (yeah, I liked Alba as Sue Storm), the story was entertaining, the Surfer was a nice addition to the cast, and the special effects were, for the most part, fantastic. There were a few things here and there that I didn't care for (such as Galactus' appearance), but overall, I was relieved after watching it. I remember thinking "Phew! Finally, after two poor Marvel films in a row (Ghost Rider & SM3), one that I won't be hesitant to put up on my shelf of DVDs in a few months..."

Ironically, the only reason I'll be buying it is Jessica Alba, even then I'm hoping for a better more developed sequel next time around.

Venom and Sandman teaming up, was well, random as hell...This movie woulda been 10 times better if the ending was the creation of Venom in the bell tower IMO. what a waste. Sandman and harry were more then enough. and black spidey/peter walking around like homo. comon. there is no way ANYONE like that. when he hit MJ was the type of darkness i wanted...and spidey swinging around at the very end was much needed, not a damn dance.

I thought this thread had disappeared into the great abyss of the unknown. Seeing it again is almost like seeing a long MIA relative.

no two ways about it - this sucked, in more ways than one... story wise being my main gripe...
