The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

i never really liked Raimi, and this movie is why. He took the darkness and made it stupid, ie. Evil Peter's dance, the emo hair, etc. It should have been dark like a Batman movie or something. not a joke.

great point - the darkness was too shallow...

I didn't fully hate this movie because I like Raimi's films and I'm a Spider-Man fan, but I sure do border between 'hate' and 'disappointed' every time I watch it. It was everything the third film shouldn't have been like. I'll just say it like it is- I enjoyed Rise of the Silver Surfer more than this movie.

Over what? I liked ROTSS more than this. That wasn't a good movie, but it sure was better than SM3 where I actually found myself wishing by the final fight that Peter would just be killed off so that the movie could end.

i don't know if i agree that ROTSS was a better film, but i do think Transformers was better. I'm such a die hard fan that I love the film, i just know that it could have and should have been way better. i don't think it would be bad at all if Raimi left, in other words. give it to someone else. to be honest, i'd love to see Burton do one. bottom line, Raimi is too cheesy.

Yeah but Burton is clearly a more artistic director who isn't afraid to rackle and take the source material to a place where it needs to be, especially when going dark.

Ok,but his Directing often turns out to be to Dark and to Bizarre, thats why i didn´t like him as a Director so much....He also has a neck to put Cheezy stuff in his Movies exactly like Raimi.

but only if he's intentionally being bizarre. like in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. But in 'Batman' he was fine, as in 'Batman Returns'. they were executed perectly. darkness wise.

I just watched Spider-Man 2 again and it made me cry with disappointment. 3 could've been so good.....yet it failed in so many ways. :(

I was so incredibly disappointed with Spider-Man 3. It's hard to imagine somebody watching Spider-Man 2 and expecting the Spidey 3 we got.

And I have nothing for sympathy for Raimi, because I'm sure HIS Spidey 3 would have been another home run. Why the suits (namely Avi Arad) had to interfere at that stage of the game will forever puzzle me.

It's not puzzling at all. Since the first movie, unthinking fanboys have been screaming for Venom with no regard to the actual story arc of the movies (Harry), or how Venom's complicated origin would even be crammed into one film. The suits simply gave them what they wanted. The fanboys ruined the Spider-Man trilogy.

I don't understand the 'hate' for it. Disliking it for not being a really good film but people actual hating it? I've only seen it once, I thought it was decent. Not as good as the first two, but certainly not anything I'd waste time on hating.

Then there's the Sam Raimi stuff. Spidey 1 and 2 is released, Raimi is the greatest of all time. Part 3 comes out, Raimi must die!

I left the theater watching SM3 for the second time because how boring it was.

Im pissed cuz raimi and the crew did an excellent job with the first two spidey flicks, but one of the reasons i was extremely pissed when the third one came out. it was because i think it was the chick laura zinksy whaterver her name is was talking about how no one had ever scene such an amazing fight before( train scene in SM2 ), and how SM3 would top all that, lol, bull**** of course imo, but the coolest scene in three was when venom and peter were falling and fighting in mid air, cough cough, didn't spidey and ock do that, there one nothing exciting at all about SM3.

I don't think that explains it, though.

Had the Spidey movies been struggling at the box office, I'd agree. But Spider-Man 1 and 2 were incredibly successful movies, there seems to be no reason that anybody would suddenly think that Raimi doesn't know what he's doing.

SM2 was the film where Raimi had full creative control. It was also the film that made the least amount of money (though $700,000+ is nothing to sneeze at).

The worse part of this is that with SM3 being the most successful and the one where Raimi had the least control, the producers are going to think more intervention = more money.

You have a Superman Returns avatar and you think SM3 is boring? :cwink:

i dont compare the two, sorry and this was like the first superman movie for singer, raimi did three spider man movies:cwink:

I notice how after SM1 Raimi is a god among comic book fans compared to other overrated fanboy demigods Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Richard Donner, etc. (Chris Nolan about to join that list). Bryan Singer was also on that list but then he made SR and now fanboys do nothing but bash teh **** out of him whenever they can.

SM3 did not live up to the hype or expectations and it is hated and so is Raimi. But really there is actually some things if you are going to dwell on this movie (and if you go to this board you obviously are) worth noting in the film that make it stand above most summer fare. But htose things are ignored and you see mindless poss like "I have always hated RAimi and this movie is why...." WTF, mate?!

Just get over it. And I'd point out that it does have a little more going for it than Trannies did and a lot more than FF2 did. But hey Transformers had cool new SFX so people are tricked into thinking is a good movie, when it is just "What if Michael Bay directed Independence Day.'" FF2...was just bad. I can't see how other than the coolness factor of SS visuals people can enjoy that movie.

But to each their own. I can't change people's minds on this. Besides after 4 months (IT'S BEEN 4 MONTHS PEOPLE!!) it no longer matters. We disagree fine. Why spend our time trying to prove our opinion is better than someone else's opinion?

I didn't watch the whole movie. After sitting through the "made for tv" opening credits that's when I walked out.

Yea I call bull **** on this. I really doubt you walked out after just watching only the opening credits. :o :whatever:

"Gee I think the credits suck, therefore the movie must suck so Im not gonna waste anymore of my time"

ROTSS was better than SM3 in every sense. Better story, characters much closer to the source material, attempts at comedy not nearly as corny, even the special effects looked better. The list goes on, but I'll leave it at that.
