The "I loved Spider-Man 3" Thread!

The symbiote amplifies his characteristics, especially aggression, not just aggression. Having Connors say it just wasn't enough, they needed to show it and what's wrong with adding a little humour along the way? It's not a dark movie, it's a Spider-man movie. From the very start of the movie, Peter was arrogant and full of himself. That scene showed how much worse it gets when he has the symbiote. I agree with what others said before, because you don't want the whole movie to be dark and depressing. You want to get the audience involved and let them sort of develop a comfort level and then snatch it away very fast and that's what they did. I've seen the movie twice now and each time everyone was sort of getting into it and relaxed and enjoying and then everyone tensed up and felt uneasy.

I think you expect too much out of things and go in with certain expectations and when they're not met or they're different from what you expected/wanted things to be, you're let down. The best way to enjoy a movie is to go in with low expectations and just watch it for what it is, not for what you want.
Thats not the case at all. I wasn't let down because I expected to much I was let down by a out of place scene that was cheesy and looked like it was written by a ******ed monkey. There was plenty of humor in other parts of the film we didn't need cheesy humor that was mostly made to appeal to a 7 year old.

I am still willing to end this circular disagreement where you guys keep saying the same thing and I keep saying the same thing and we end up going no where.

Agree to disagree? Or keep making the same point over and over again?

the dancing spidey was the best part of the movie :)

This film has a large target audience, you know.

Same point! Same point!

So do you not understand our point about amplifying his cockiness? Yes, it was silly but it served more than just one purpose and I think that it was an overall important scene for the movie. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it didn't serve purpose.

It isn't that I don't understand your point it's that I don't agree with it. Frankly I think you are wrong. I don't think it does any good for the film at all. I think not only is it not important but it is the least important scene in the entire film. It took so much away from the film in my opinion. There are alot of people who agree with both of us I don't see why you can't just agree to disagree. Does every one have to share your opinion?

Once again we have continued to say the exact same thing.

If I was blind and deaf, I would love this movie.

Would you run your finger across the screen?

I don't know about where you live but my theater did not put the movie in Braille

How cool would that of been if they did though.

Yes.

Not exactly, but yes.

So what exactly was SO bad about it? How did it not show the powers of the symbiote, bring the audience to a comfortable state and then snatch it all away?

Edit: And while adding ["cheap"] humour and entertainment.

I dont care what any of u say the spider man 3 dancing part was the best!!!:)

Exactly they give the audience comfort and then BAM!!! Unsettling. I have never felt a vibe before, but you could tell the whole theater went "oh my god" the very second that happened.

Paranormal researchers talk about entering somewhere and FEELING the emotion of the room, and I swear to god- I felt the theater... really weird and really amazing how they used the build up to accomplish that.

I personally like the pics of symiote Spider-Man in action Peter gave Jonah. He looked like he was about to smash in that one guy's head-the one where he was crouched over the criminal.

The origin for the symiote was cool too. A nice B-Movie feel to it. I don't see why everyone's having fits over it.

Because the Fanboys wanted Raimi to copy the animated series origin, which never would have worked on screen and probably would have cost the effects department even more money to do a space shuttle scene.

I love this movie. :)

Some of my favorite scenes

1) the first fight between Peter and Harry. Man, that was intense!!
2) Bad Peter walking down the street...really showing us how utterly egotistical and cocky he has become (that and it was funny!).
3) The main event between Spidey and Venom.
4) The Bank truck robbery scene!

i dug this movie too. had its flaws.. and i still think sm2 is superior.. but because of all the tight action scenes, this will probably be the dvd i watch over and over. (and how can you beat gwen stacy?)

Does anyone else notice that this film gets better?

First viewing: Towering dissapointment

Second viewing: perhaps i just was expecting something different..but the dancing pisses me off

third viewing: Good...not as good as 1 or 2

Fourth viewing: Omg..i cant believe i was so hard on it..its totally on par.

So yah, im joining the love club (the jazz club scene still bugs me though :))

Yep, raise up- get yourself together and drive that funky soul!

Going again tonight to celebrate that all I have left in school is exams next week. Spider-Man's going great, summer is here- oh yeah, it's all great!

:sym: I like being bad. It makes me happy. :sym:
I love that line that venom said

I love the part where Peter mentions the power and Eddie's eyes light up. I thought Topher did a great job in that scene.

i like the dancing in the club and on the streets it was laugh out loud for me

seen the movie four times now. will see it on imax and then call it a day.

brilliant movie and can't wait for the dvd and to think the first time I saw it I was majorly disappointed with it.

Just got back on a forth time. Took my little teenage sister, she hated it. I followed up with questions to try to get a response from the uninitated comic book side and I will go on to explain what I strangely found. Wondering if anyone has come across the same response in school from anyone, and what the girls here think...

Just saw it again and the movie gets more emotional every time for some reason...

Also, I took my little teenage sister and I think I narrowed down a teenage girl's view of the movie who doesn't know the history of the comics... she hated it, followed it up and traced it back to two different aspects:

1. She wants Peter Parker to be cool and hot.
- Wanted Peter to be cool and attractive like Wolverine, not a nerd.
- Wants James Franco to be Peter Parker, because she thinks he's cute.
- Liked the dance scene down the street, but didn't know that it's supposed to be funny.

2. Doesn't like the symbiote. Doesn't really understand it... I laughed at the absurdity at how she described it: "I don't know, I guess I didn't like that Venom came to Earth took over Spider-Man and then another guy who became like Spider-Man." Is anyone else running into this? Jeez... I feel like I have to explain comic book history with the uninitiated.

I'm wondering if anyone else has ran into this? Really found it to be the funny cliche way of how teenage girls think. Are there any girls on here who can tell us what other girls think- or do alot of girls think this way? She liked Sandman and the action... but, could not really come up with what further explanations as I kept on stressing to her to "go into detail". Although, this could be that she likes the darker world more realistic than fantasy world- like the X-Men.

So, my questions are this:

1. How many uninitiated comic book readers don't understand that Peter (especially during the Stan Lee days) was kinda a nerd rather than cool guy?

2. How have the uninitiated taken to the whole symbiote angle? Because it seems to be where the whole thing spawned from. How many have you had to try the comic book history to?

I have seen it 2 times and about to be 3!:)
