I always have to comment when this one rolls by. This was the first issue in a subscription that I managed to talk my mom into (I was 9, and allowances were not issued in my family!). Previous to this, my collection was pretty hit and miss, what I scrounged at flea markets, and whatever was on the spinner racks at my local drug store (local meant a 20 minute bike ride through rural...and hilly...Western Pennsylvania) So, even though I had a lot of back issues, Marvel Tales, pocket digests, etc, I always consider this the "start" of my collection.....which has continued now for 34 years.
I remember the brown paper sleeve that they came in, and how pumped I was every time I saw one in the mailbox. Almost every issue featured characters that I didn't know, and drew me deeper and deeper into the wider MU. It didn't hurt that this introduction came at the hands of a pair of masters....Chris Claremont and John Byrne.
So Marvel Team-Up will always reside in a special place for me. Thanks John and Chris!
